“Best Lolo in Grand Case”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

Tuesday night is festival night in Grand Case. The main street is lined with stalls on both sides, with folks selling food, clothing, arts and crafts. Tuesday night in Grand Case should not be missed. After visiting all of the stalls, we wanted to try a Lolo for dinner. My wife had bought a beach bag in one of the stores, and I asked the store manager, who had been working in Grand Case for years, if one of the Lolos was better than the others. She said that "Skys the Limit" is the best, in her opinion. They make sure the food is always fresh. So we decided to give it a try. As we perused the menu, Elvis came over and urged us to come in and eat. Other reviews mentioned Elvis. He is quite a nice guy and a great salesman.

The other Lolos used charcoal grills. "Skys the Limit" uses a smoker. That sets it apart. Some other reviewers complained about the wait. Smoking food takes longer than charcoal grilling. If you are in a hurry, try one of the other Lolos. However, I can't understand being on the island of St. Martin, and being in a hurry. Relax. Enjoy. Go slow. Our salmon was delicious, and the price was right. There is one thing to watch for. One of the "advantages" of going to a Lolo is that a meal is cheaper than at one of the restaurants. When you look at the menu before you come into Skys the limit, it says the salmon is $10. When you see the salmon dinner on the paper menu, it is more than $20, but it comes with a sampling of a number of different sides. I am not complaining. I am merely suggesting you look at the options. I opted for the salmon and one side - rice and beans. The combination of salmon and rice and beans was a large, excellent meal. If you get the complete platter, you will have enough food for a small nation for a week. (slight exaggeration).
I rated this Lolo "Five Stars". What I mean by that is that it is a great local, informal place to eat. I wasn't comparing it with a formal, traditional French restaurant. Any visitor to St. Martin should try both to get the full flavor of the island.

“Fun, but loud with average food”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

We enjoyed going to this Lolo (and learned that Lolo stands for 'locally owned, locally operated'), but we didn't bother going back a second time. There was a fun guy up by the menu board encouraging everyone passing by to eat there and it worked -- despite our hesitation due to very loud music playing there, we decided to grab a seat and enjoy the ribs off the grill that we could see cooking. We also ordered the macaroni and cheese. The ribs were pretty good and the macaroni was average at best. The service was not good at all -- it took a long time to place our order, and then a really inordinate amount of time to get our check at the end. So, generally, we were glad we ate at a Lolo, but once was enough.

“For execellent value - Lolos are the place to eat in Grand Case”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

Sky’s the Limit was our favorite - whole grilled red snapper $10, conch with garlic $10, shrimp with garlic $10, kids ribs and fries dinner $5, best johnny cakes, Carib & Heineken $1.50 – all at par with US dollar. Of course, Elvis makes the experience complete. Don’t be in a hurry – just sit back and enjoy the scenery.

“consistent”

When in St Martin we always make a visit to Sky' the Limit. Food is consistent and very reasonably priced. Everyone should try a lolo.
