Octopus diving recommended this place and it was fantastic. it's a traditional Lolo, or BBQ stand, right on the beach at Grand Case. You will smell the grilled meats from miles away. they have an extensive menu featuring excellent grilled chicken, ribs, and fish and all the good island side dishes you could imagine. Try the mac and cheese, greens, or rice and peas [really beans]--all excellent. We had the ribs, mac and cheese and rice and peas. BBQ not spicy, you add that at the table. I give the atmosphere 4 stars for authenticity, so if you don't like outdoor dining with the locals and a few flies then find some where else to eat.

This is one of four or five open-air restaurants at Lolo, which our cab driver had recommended. It is very casual, with grills and picnic tables filling the area. It caters to locals and tourists alike.

We ordered grilled fish platters, which include a large portion of fish and small portions of at least half a dozen sides: cole slaw, tossed salad, spaghetti, mac-and-cheese, potato salad, fried plantains, etc. (Mind you, ALL of these sides are included with the dinner; it is not a choice of sides.)

The food was fairly mediocre, and the service a bit haphazard. We saw others who sat down later served first, and it was almost impossible to get our check once we were finished. (I saw the person who took our order working in the kitchen area most of the time after that, so I'm not sure about the waitstaff situation.)

If you go, do not have expectations for anything other than basic food. I think ordering a la carte rather than a platter may be just as economical and allow you to choose the foods you prefer. It's an experience in local cuisine and color and can be fun with the right mindset.

For a different grand case experience, I recommend the local barbecue. They give you a good variety of food and the ribs and chicken are always good. Dollar beers can't be beat.

The service is prompt and you get more then you expect

This is one of several lolos - local restaurants all grouped together on the main street. They are very casual - eat a picnic tables, watch the staff cook massive amounts of ribs, chicken, lobster and fish. The food is wonderful, with lots of side dishes including the local johnnycake, a slightly sweet sort of cornbread doughnut. This is the place to feel the island atmosphere, soak up the ambiance of the Caribbean and gorge on great, very reasonably priced food.
