“Perfect Wedding Dinner”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

We selected L'Effet Mer for our wedding reception dinner. The chef and staff did a wonderful job - we couldn't have asked for better food and service. All the courses came in a timely manner and were absolutely delicious. Before our trip, I emailed the restaurant asking if the accepted Discover Card. At the time, they said yes. After getting to the island and stopping by to double check, they in fact did not have the capabilities to accept the card. We had to make some adjustments, but the staff was very helpful in assisting and making sure they did everything on their part to ensure a perfect evening. Thanks again to ALL of you who made our wedding reception wonderful. Rain and all!

I will dream of the lobster bisque. my trigger fish as a main was good but not a standout but still, it is one of the top kitchens in grand case.

“Vibrant Cuisine and Service at l'Effet Mer on the beach at lunch”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

We were invited into an airy wooden structure above the silky white sandy beach in Grand Case, by a vibrant young waitress named Laeticia Carradone.
We ordered crispy fried calamaris, a beautiful Caesar salad adorned with real anchovies, rich with shaved Parmesan, tomatoes, croutons and a creamy dressing. The corkage charge to open our newly acquired Cotes du Rhone Stephane Kaci 2011 was only 6 euros.
Main courses were scrumptious: tender Moroccan tajine of chicken on couscous and preserved lemon, bar en croute with salad, pickled cabbage, fried angel hair, with a saffron cream sauce.
We drank strong coffee in small clear glass cups for dessert, as the sea washed onto the clean shore and tourists swam from the beautiful catamarans to shore in the heat.

“Delightful seaside dinner in Grand Case, authentic French cuisine.”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

On the recommendation of my friend Christophe, owner of La Villa restaurant in Grand Case, we visited L'Effet Mer, located on the ocean side of Grand Case Blvd, just north of the "LoLo's" (outdoor grills). Small and intimate, right on Grand Case Bay with a view of Anguilla, we enjoyed a variety of beautifully presented seafood dishes, artfully prepared by owner and French chef Stefan. His English was very limited, but the adorable hostess/server was quite communicative and attentive. She showed us the variety of fresh seafood selections available that day including red snapper, marlin, tuna and a few others. We ordered from a €29 prix fixe menu (an unusual value for this area) that afforded us a choice of 3-4 appetizers, entrees and desserts. My appetizer, lobster bisque "cappuccino" style (poured through foamed cream), with a duck foie gras ravioli was unique and simply delicious. My rare, seared tuna coated in sesame and black quinoa was perfectly done. Dessert, a liquid center chocolate soufflé was a great finish. My wife's dinner included a half lobster tail and multi-colored gnocchi. All in all, this would have been a great meal at twice the price. I recommend you add L'Effet Mer to your list of Grand Case restaurants. I know we will surely visit this one again next year.

“This restaurant is our fave in Grand Case”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

The chef at this terrific restaurant is a major league player. His cuisine ranks with the best that I have ever tasted and I have travelled a lot! He is an artist who lovingly plates his food. Do yourselves a favour: seek out this terrific spot and be glad you did!
