Upon recommendation, my wife, daughter and I, and another couple went to dinner at Le Tastevin in Grand Case,St. Martin. The establishment is owned by Carlos and Christina and our waitress was Jennifer. The food was amazing, wonderful taste, great presentation, and plentiful. I had the 1.75 lb lobster which was the biggest crustacean I have ever eaten. My wife and one other had beef, cooked perfectly and just the right size. Another had the fish which she claimed was the best she had ever eaten. The atmosphere and view of the Caribbean to the west with a sunset could not have been better. Jennifer is a wonderful waitress or "service associate". Carlos, the owner, came by several times to chat and talk about the food and our likes and dislikes. We liked it so much we went back two nights later and Jennifer remembered exactly what we all drank. She, as the bartender also, makes a great gin and tonic and whiskey and gingerale. Everything there is just right for a wonderful experience. Wine, whiskey, food and tip was around $400 for five of us.

This is a good idea if you want good french food ,refined ambiance and still be able to dress informal and dine next to the beach.
The service is excellent , the table setting and the cutlery superb and as can be expected , the wine and the food are amazing!
Do not expect your order to come out quickly as you must give the chef his space to cook up your amazing meal.
In short ,worth your time and money, maybe just refrain from ordering vegetarian items.

Good food but nothing spectacular. There are much better options on the island, less expensive as well. Won't be back.

With plans to hit the island casinos later on, we were looking for an early dinner, around 5:30 p.m.. Not always easy to find in a place that is known for gourmet restaurants and fine dining, European style. Since we were staying in Grand Case and planned to be picked up by the free casino shuttle at our hotel, we wanted something close by on the Grand Case restaurant row. After a couple of negative greetings by other restaurant front people telling us it was too early and we needed reservations, we entered Le Tastevin. Jennifer was immediately welcoming and accommodating. She gave us one of the best tables on the patio, directly overlooking the beach and setting sun. The meal we had was one of the the top two of our trip. We started with two French martinis, recommended by Jennifer. They were some of the best cocktails we've ever had, and I can tell you we aren't amateurs in the martini department! We then shared an amazing asparagus soup, delicious green salad, and steak special (done exactly as ordered rare). Every staff member was gracious and they even divided up the shared portions on separate plates, something that most high-end restaurants either won't do, or charge extra to do. We were out and on our way (not too full as we planned) right on schedule but felt we didn't skimp nor were we rushed. During our next trip, Le Tastevin will DEFINITELY be on our list of must eats!!

Le Tastevin was our first experience with the legendary Grand Case dining, and we'll never forget it. We were seated right on the railing looking out over the ocean. The service was excellent- our server was very friendly and helpful and kept the experience very laid-back, which we appreciated after a long day of travel. The food was simply amazing, from the appetizers and wine to the dessert and complimentary shot of rum. The check was on par with the other restaurants in Grand Case- not cheap, but you're not eating at KFC. Definitely worth a visit.
