“Our favorite on the island”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

We began coming to this restaurant in the early 1980s and have never been disappointed. The ambiance is island special and you can't beat the view of the beach. Today I had the seared foie gras with apples and it was a wonderful layer of flavors. I followed that with the Mahi Mahi with mussel sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Wonderful and rich. My husband got his favorite lobster bisque which had chunks of lobster, and he followed that with the grouper with vegetables and rice and a saffron sauce. He said he really liked it, but thought mine was the better choice. As always, they have rich strong coffee. A perfect lunch, very leisurely. The bottle of Sancerre wine from the Loire Valley was a good accompaniment to it all. This will always be on our list of destinations when we come to St. Martin.

“A great surprise”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

We had not intended to dine at Le Tastevin, but happy circumstance came our way. This restaurant is much bigger than it looks from the outside and it is beautiful on the inside as well. We started with a split of Champagne and had an enjoyable meal. The traditional onion soup was a special for the night and it was excellent. I enjoyed the sirloin and my wife had the special veal t-bone. We shared a wonderful dessert and had a small grand marnier to cap a lovely evening.

“Wine and Foodie Heaven.”
Reviewed February 22, 2014 via mobile

This restaurant should be in the top 2 or 3 in Grand Case. We've only been here a week and have eaten there twice. Yes, it's THAT good. We've been coming here for 10 years, and have tried everyone on Restaurant Row, so I think we speak with some experience on this issue.

The food is fantastic. We've had the red snapper, the sea bass and the rack of lamb, and all we're amazing. The snapper was light and flaky, the sea bass meaty is an absolutely wonderful sauce, and the lamb incredible. We'll be back once more before we leave (maybe twice).

And if the food isn't enough, they have the deepest wine list on the island, at least for White Burgundy, our favorite. And the price is excellent. We had the Chevalier Montrachet last night, and a very nice Puligny the time before that. If you're looking for a truly special evening, or just for a wonderful dinner in general, this place is heavenly.

The setting is beautiful, right on the ocean in an airy, open house. It is very warm and comfortably decorated. The management is very friendly and seem genuinely committed to making your dining experience superb. They are very knowledgeable about wine, and can help newbies and sommeliers alike find just the right wine for the occasion. If you like good food, or of food and wine is your thing, you can't come to Grand Case and NOT try this restaurant.

“Go Here”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

Top 5 places in Grand Case: Auberge Gourmande, La Villa, Spiga, Bistrot Caraibes and Tastevin. Oh and L'Estaminet.

Tastevin was absolutely phenomenal. The service was probably the best as well. It doesn't happen often where 4 picky diners from NYC all say they're having the best of whatever it is they ordered, ever. Perfection on another level.

Plus, this is one of the few top top places that is situated on the ocean side, so you also get a great view. I would go back here in a heartbeat.

“Impeccable service, fine food”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

Enjoyed a lovely lunch - since we all ordered salads, it's hard to gauge the cuisine. But it was tasty, and professionally served in a beautiful setting, so it's likely that the dinner cuisine & service would also be impeccable.
