We have be going to St Marten for many years, almost always the French side. Over the last 3-4 years we have stayed at Grand Case in order to be closer to the gastronomical center of the world.

We usually stay 4 nights and make sure to spend at least one of the nights at a high end, fine French restaurant. After much analysis over several Presidente's we decided to try Le Tastevin and were not disappointed.

We started out with escargot en croute and tuna cerviche, both delicously prepared, sweet and fresh.

Entrees included red snapper, curry pork, filet de boeuf in pepper sauce and grouper. Exactly what you would expect from a fine French restaurant that could located anywhere in the world.

Not cheap, but this is not the place to go for an economical meal (that would be the lolos) if you want one of the best French meals you have ever had, this is the place to go

This was my second visit to St. Martin and I my husband's first. We decided to visit Grand Case on a whim (it was rainy and windy on the Atlantic side of the island where we are staying so we decided to explore the island). We happened upon Le Tastevin, scanned the menu, and decided to stay for lunch. We were not disappointed. We were greeted promptly and shown to a lovely table which overlooked the pristine beach and provided a nice view of Anguilla across the way. Our server attended to us immediately and we ordered a bottle of Bandoit sparkling water, a bottle of 2008 Chateauneuf de Pape (Le Tastevin has an admirable wine list) the dorado entree (buerre blanc/fingerling potatoes) and the red snapper entree. We could have chosen one of the salad lunch specials (all of which looked quite tasty), but we decided to have a more substantial midday meal. The wine was well priced and was well-suited to our fish entrees--both of which were cooked perfectly. I have traveled in the Caribbean since 1973 (live on Isla de Contadora and NYC) and, for the most part, have found the food there to be sub-par (with some notable exceptions); Le Tastevin is one of those exceptions. We are looking forward to a return visit this Friday.

This was our first experience at Le Tastevin, and it was wonderful! Everything about the meal itself - wine, lobster bisque, beef tenderloin, mahi mahi, - was delicious and beautifully prepared and served. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door. The setting is as good as it gets, with many tables at water's edge with the beautiful view of Anguilla. With so many good choices of restaurants in Grand Case, we'll opt for a wonderful waterfront setting most of the time.
