I am not an "easy grader...." My husband and I are self branded foodies and look for an experience along with our meal to round out the event. At Le Tastevin, it is hard to separate the food from the fact that you are sitting 5-8 feet above the beach with the waves rolling in underneath you, the lights in the harbor gleaming back at you and the mountains off in the distance to your left as you face the water. Quite romantic! That said, the meal started with a wonderful "taste" of cucumber gazpacho--simple dish sublimely prepared (cream, cucumber, chives and a bit of olive oil) and served with small spoons so you could savor the taste. I ordered the shrimp appetizer, wrapped with vermicelli and deep fried--ended up sharing it with my husband. Four large shrimp served with a soy/gingr sauce for dipping was definitely enough for two to share. Husband ordered the grilled lobster (hard to go wrong with that dish) and I ordered the mahi-mahi in a unsweet coco milk sauce. It was served on top of a criss-cross bed of asparagus and was quite tasty. For dessert, we split the profiteroles filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce. YUM-MEE. The only thing we missed was the traditional offering of house rum--we did not receive it and noticed no one else in the restaurant getting any....so, it must not be an offering here. All in all, six star ambience plus four star food = five star overall rating.
