I am not an "easy grader...." My husband and I are self branded foodies and look for an experience along with our meal to round out the event. At Le Tastevin, it is hard to separate the food from the fact that you are sitting 5-8 feet above the beach with the waves rolling in underneath you, the lights in the harbor gleaming back at you and the mountains off in the distance to your left as you face the water. Quite romantic! That said, the meal started with a wonderful "taste" of cucumber gazpacho--simple dish sublimely prepared (cream, cucumber, chives and a bit of olive oil) and served with small spoons so you could savor the taste. I ordered the shrimp appetizer, wrapped with vermicelli and deep fried--ended up sharing it with my husband. Four large shrimp served with a soy/gingr sauce for dipping was definitely enough for two to share. Husband ordered the grilled lobster (hard to go wrong with that dish) and I ordered the mahi-mahi in a unsweet coco milk sauce. It was served on top of a criss-cross bed of asparagus and was quite tasty. For dessert, we split the profiteroles filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce. YUM-MEE. The only thing we missed was the traditional offering of house rum--we did not receive it and noticed no one else in the restaurant getting any....so, it must not be an offering here. All in all, six star ambience plus four star food = five star overall rating.

This restaurant had an unbelievable setting looking out over water. The waiter was both amusing and friendly with the four Americans we brought to the table. We had appetizers, entrees and dessert and were very satisfied with every item around the table.

Also, find Marc Graaf the taxi driver to take your there. Knowledgeable, polite and interesting to talk to; we used him 6 times during our stay in St. Maarten.

We had a delicious meal starting with teir famous onion soup-amazing! I had the Red Snapper with puréed yellow pepper sauce and wild rice (perfection), husband had the Sirloin Steak that melted in his mouth with potato pancakes. Many oohs and ahhs at our table. Dessert of Creme Brûlée and a cheese plate topped off our delicious meal. No wine kept the bill manageable at $120 not including tip. Ocean front table was the crown touch!! Highly recommend~

We ate lunch and dinner here during a recent trip. Magnificent salads for lunch. Sitting by the water sipping a glass of very nice white wine is very pleasant.
Dinner is also wonderful. Attentive service and excellent food with very nice wine choices too.

WOW. this restaurant is incredible, my wife and I went for out 3 yr anniversary. It is very intimate and set right on the water in the small town of Grande Case. Deliciously prepared food with an extreme eye for detail in presentation. We ordered the TEMPURA OF SNAILS WITH GARLIC AND PARSLEY BUTTER as an appetizer. BLACK ANGUS BEEF TENDERLOIN, VEAL AND PARSLEY SAUCE WITH CEPE MUSHROOM CANNELLON, & ROASTED RACK OF LAMB, VEAL AND FRESH THYME SAUCE, EGGPLANTS, TOMATOES, OLIVES & FETA! This meal is one we will truly remember! Please go check it out.
