“Cheap. Fast. A great lo-lo!”
Reviewed July 7, 2010

Our bus driver recommended this place to us. So we came and we ate!! While we were eating, we saw our bus driver getting his lunch. He said that he eats there every day. Don't know what others were saying- this is certainly a local hang-out- especially at night. We were there mid-day for lunch but walked by it many, many times at night and during the day.

I had the Crab Salad- which is not typical American-style crab salad with mayo. Instead, it was the breaded, stuffed crab served on top of an iceburg lettuce salad. Not exactly for the health-minded, but what do you expect from a beachfront grill?

The food is simple & it's no frills. But perfect for an inexpensive lunch. You come here because it's the talk of the town, not because you're looking for 5 stars.

Bring cash- and lots of small bills. Getting change seemed to be difficult for some of the other people we saw there.

“Good, cheap local food”
Reviewed May 27, 2010

Eating in Grand Case can get very expensive very quickly. The 'LoLos' are known for low cost local BBQ cooking. We tried this LoLo one night and were not disappointed. The overall atmosphere (of all the LoLos) is not overly impressive - shacks with picnic tables and locals grilling on outdoor BBQs. But if you're looking for atmosphere, don't go to a LoLo. If you're looking to dine with some locals and tourists alike, have real food, and not pay an arm and a leg, then try Talk of The Town.

The servers weren't the most attentive, but the host (friendly man with a very optimistic attitude) was great. I had the filet of snapper and my wife had the ribs....Both, very good. A whole filet of snapper for $8. We had two entrees, several sides, some Johnny Cakes, water and a corona for $30 (tip included). Get a lot of food and the entrees are tasty and appear fresh. They had mac and cheese on the menu, but they were sold out...afterwards we noticed some boxes of Kraft Mac and Cheese -- so i'm not sure all of the dishes are going to be home cooked from scratch, but if you stick with the chicken, ribs, and fish, you should be fine.

Also drinks are cheap here. $2 for a beer (even Corona), and $2 for a liter and a half of water.....several restaurants down the street charge 6 euros for the same size water.

“Good for a lolo but try also the other places next door”
Reviewed May 23, 2010

Based on many websites mentioning this particular lolo we had dinner here one night. First impression was that there are about 4 lolos on this square but all tourists crowd into "Talk of the Town", probably drawn by internet reviews - you will find the locals using other venues on that square. This lolo does not have a view of the sea as some of the others - I suppose the view of the busy street might be more interesting at night for many. Food was good but took a moment to arrive, same for the bill - and that is not using US but European standards for speed of service. It seems that "Talk of the Town" is starting to sit on it's (internet-) laurels? We tried another one of the lolos on this square and it was just as good.
Funny episode that made up for some of the mixed experience: a few days later our waiter recognized us during the day in a completely different town on the Dutch side, good face recognition!

We were in St Maarten the first part of May. You can't beat the food at this LoLo. The best shrimp you will every eat. Staff is friendly. Prices are great. Ribs and slaw are also amazing. Just sit and relax and enjoy your meal.
