“Popular for good reason”
Reviewed May 16, 2014

We made a reservation but had to wait when we arrived. The restaurant is very busy and was setting up for a larger group. The host was politely apologetic and offered us each a Bellini to sip outdoors while we waited near the lobster tank. Once seated, the place was loud but fun. I hoped to order a small lobster, but they had only very large ones (good for sharing.) Instead I ordered the special, a shrimp curry with rice, which was excellent. My spouse had a generous portion of tender scallops with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Although we didn’t need dessert, we were tempted and ordered a cheese plate and yummy profiteroles. You won’t leave hungry from this popular spot.

“Back Again!”
Reviewed May 16, 2014

Amaury and Thibault are the most gracious of hosts and keep us returning every time we vacation on SXM. Their staff (Nancy, Nadia and a third very pretty waitress we didn't get to ask her name!) is top notch as well- efficient and friendly. The traditional escargot is the freshest and most tender anywhere, seasoned perfectly - to die for! The fresh salmon appetizer is another standout. I love their veal scaloppini and the lobster thermidor is the best we have had anywhere. We thank you again for 2 lovely dinners and we look forward to returning in October.

“Best Food on St. Maarten”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

What a fabulous meal we had here! We began with the escargot, which were cooked to perfection in butter and garlic. Our main course was scallops which were beautifully presented and paired with an excellent wine. The service was excellent. The restaurant was clean and charming. Do not miss this place if you venture to the island!

“Excellent food, service, and experience”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

We made our reservation via email which made the process easy. The owner greeted us when we arrived and remembered the context of the email making our arrival a very happy experience. We were given a free before dinner cocktail which was wonderful. Food was fabulous from the apps to the main courses to the deserts. We received a great free after dinner rum drink as well which tasted so good I had to buy a bottle to bring home with me. Overall a great memorable experience complimented by staff whom truly seemed to enjoy the services they provided.

“Great dinner and service in grand case”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

Bistrot Caraibes is in Grand Case in a street where many restaurants are good. There are advantages to dine there: it has a frequent buyer card (along with Ocean 82 across the street and another restaurant close by: 3 meals= a free bottle of rhum); and you can pay cash in dollars instead of euros: 1 euro= 1 dollar, which is a fantastic deal- saves a 1/3rd of the bill). Owners are very friendly and welcoming and service is impeccable. The place is cosy but busy so reservation is recommended. The specialty is lobster but the fish is fantastic too. There were four of us and the meal was cooked to perfection. The lobster was very well prepared; sides were lovely too. Desserts were a real treat. As a French native I thought that it lived up to the expectations. St Martin IS the culinary capital of the Caribbean. We will definitely visit again when we return next year.
