“Can't wait to go back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2010

In short, we had an amazing time at the Grand Case Beach Club. We went over the US Memorial Day weekend and loved every second of our 4 night stay. The grounds of this hotel are bursting with color from the lush tropical plants. The flowering vines that creep up the building walls give it that quaint, sleepy French village feel. The staff were extremely friendly and inviting. We loved having our breakfast at the Sunset Cafe, you can just tell that the staff there truely enjoy their job and the fact they are surrounded by such beautiful scenery everyday.

Our room was an Ocean Front Studio which was the perfect size for the two of us. The view from our balcony was amazing and worth every penny. We spent many evenings out there gazing at the sea enjoying our complimentary bottle of wine. The room had a kitchenette with a full size fridge and oven. We did not put it to good use but it was nice to have the option to prepare snacks or meals in the room. The bathroom was spacious and very clean. I loved the pebble floor in the shower and can't wait to do that in a home of my own some day. Overall the room was very nice, spacious and well maintained and the housekeeping staff made sure it was clean and sparkling everyday.

The grounds were beautiful as I stated before. They have a grass tennis court, pool, car rental, fitness room, laundry room, gift shop, water sports equipment, cafe/beach bar and two amazing beaches (Grand Case Beach and Le Petit Place). Personally I enjoyed the Le Petit Place side a little bit more but that's just me. There were always a lot of seating options on the beach with the perfect amount of seperation from your neighbors. But if the beach isn't really your thing there were a lot of little private nooks scattered around the property with chairs as well, so you can relax in the sun or shade. I recommend you take full advantage of the snorkeling equipment during your stay and snorkel around the rocks under the Sunset Cafe. The water is crystal clear and we saw some really cool sea life (including the biggest starfish I have ever seen!).

Overall my words fail to describe the beauty of this place and the fun we had there but we cannot wait to return someday soon! Be sure to venture into Grand Case and enjoy the dinning options and shopping there. Also try the Lolo's for lunch, you will be hooked and find yourself going back the next day haha.

We spent two nights at this hotel with our older teenage daughters. The hotel and restaurant caters more to US guests, than French. The beach is better than the pictures, location is excellent, restaurant service excellent, beach rentals extensive and an easy safe walk to town - which is full of great restaurants. Behind the office is a small library with computers where my daughter spent some time doing homework for her on-line class. We did not have to bring her laptop. The rooms were very nice and view of the harbor and ocean were beautiful. Many of the guests we spoke had stayed here before. Very relaxing - the action is in town.

Stayed for our honeymoon. We did not request to be pampered with their honeymoon package so this is a basic experience.

The check-in process went well and the staff spoke very good English for being French. We arrived on Monday and were invited to managers’ reception for delicious appetizers and rum punch. Met Bill the "boss" at time and he was very friendly.

The room was nicely decorated/furnished, but not lavishly decorated. You are not paying $250+/night though ether. Room had stove, oven, microwave, fridge, and dinnerware/utensils. Shower and sink was a little small for two people. Beds were acceptable, but not great. I could hear the sliding doors above me open during the morning.

The two beaches on either side of restaurant we very clear, but rocky compared to our favorite beach (Orient-10 min away). Good place to see sunset though.

As far as proximity, it is about 15 min to Marigot, 25 min to airport, and 35 to Philipsburg, but it all depends on traffic. Can take 15 min longer when it rains and everyone is on road. ATMs are on Dutch side right after Marigot.

GCBC helped with directions to grocery store (5 min) and gas station (5 min). Activity center offered free snorkel gear, kayaks, chairs/umbrellas, etc. Had brochures for almost all activities on the island, but we used a different service.

Hotel restaurant had excellent service and food. Continental breakfast was small for an American couple. OJ, coffee, and bread. We got cereal at grocery store. Restaurants are plentiful and delicious in Grand Case, but they are very expensive if you do not eat at a Lolo.

Overall, we had a great experience for the money, but not “out of this world.” We would recommend it to friends if they wanted to stay at a beautiful intimate resort with close access to restaurants. Would recommend Orient if they wanted to spend most time at the best beach. The Dutch side if they wanted to gamble, shop and get typical tourist experience.

My husband and I debated whether to stay at the Westin or the Grand Case Beach Club(GCBC) and ultimately chose the GCBC for our first visit to St. Martin. After being there we can definitely say we chose the right place to stay. Upon check-in (which our room was ready), we were offered a free bottle of wine and proceeded on to our room. The room was very clean, included granite countertops and tile floors, and had very good cable service. On subsequent days the room was cleaned very well and we had no complaints. However, we were most impressed by four other things: (1) the beach may be a bit smaller than some, but we loved it. We never had a problem finding a lounger and Willy (the staff member) always came down and made sure we were okay with our umbrella and always kept the beach area nice; (2) Sunset Cafe on the premises has complimentary breakfast (chocolate pastries are amazing), their meals are amazing (carramel, pineapple tart is excellent), and the overly pleasant staff remembered our names by the second day; (3) we met numerous couples who were repeat customers, as we will be; and (4) the most important to us (even though we had a rental car) was the location of GCBC. We were able to shop, visit with locals and eat every meal within walking distance of GCBC. The area is very safe and everyone was so pleasant that we met.

This is the first time I have ever written a review ever and we travel quite a bit. I always take reveiws with a grain of salt becuase I know we all have varying degress of what we find acceptable in life, but I can truly say I was wowed by our experience and cannot wait to return in the near future. P.S. The Westin location is not nearly as great, and if this says anything, we met many couples who had not even left GCBC the whole time they were in St. Martin. Talk to Willy about the day to trip to St. Barts as well, you will not be dissappointed.

I wasnt going to write a review. We want to keep this place a secret! This is a great little resort. Its perfect for people who are looking for a quiet & relaxing vacation. If you are looking for a more active type of resort, Orient Beach area would be a better choice or a resort on the Dutch side. We booked a gardenview room which was kept very clean. We liked having the kitchenette. The matress was not comfortable.I would probably book an oceanview the next time.
The beach area is nice, but there are rocks that start about half way down the beach to the end. There hotel loans you snorkel gear and you can buy a mouthpiece for $5 us. They also have floaties and kayaks. You may want to bring a converter. The hotel does have a hair dryer so dont bring one.
We had a very nice bathroom with an open shower(not a tub). The hotel is gated. You use your room key to get in & out. The front desk staff is very friendly and so are the maids and restaurant staff. We ate at the Sunset Cafe one night and had the grouper. It was ok. I wanted the Seafood Casserole, but they were out. Our waitress was very sweet. We did go to the managers cocktail party on Tues evening and it was nice.
They give you a key for the safe and two beach towels when you arrive. They ask you to sign a paper stating if you dont return them its $110 us dollars. This was odd to me, but I guess they just dont want you to lose the key. The pool is very small and so is the fitness center. We rented a car and visited different restaurants/beaches. We have been to St Martin before and stayed at Mont Vernon Hotel(no longer there) and Le Meridian L'Habitation Le Domaine(which is now the Radisson). It was about 8yrs since our last visit. Alot has changed!
We didnt think we would find another place that we liked but we did at the Grand Case Beach Club. Oh by the way, Au lait is the cute white dog you will see at the beach.

We wanted a vacation where we could sit on the beach, relax, and eat great food. We weren't interested in sight seeing or tours as much. Grand Case BC was perfect for us. Pro: Private beach right ourside our rooms; Free breakfast; Kitchenette in each room; Water sports equipment and day trip experiences available on sight; Proximty to amazing restaurants in Grand Case (10 minute walk, which was safe, even late at night). Cons: Not as luxurious as other resorts; Charge per person per day to use gym; "Garden View" room had a view of a tree and the parking lot. Overall, we were very satisfied and would certainly return.

Perfect hotel for a vacation away from everyone! The hotel is located right on the water and very private. It seemed to us that a lot of the hotel guests came back year after year.
The only downside was the rooms. I thought they could have been a little refreshed, but opening up the balcony door and having the caribbean sea a few feet away made up for it.

It is a quiet and private place with fabulous service. The restaurant is small and private with good food. I recommend taking one of the sailing trips / excursions arranged by the activity people at the hotel. We also rented a car and drove around the island and visited other (beautiful) beaches.
