“Wonderful Place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

Just returned from a 7 day,6 night trip to Grand Case Beach Club.

The highlights are as follows.

I had a chance to stay in both Garden and Ocean
view rooms so I will comment on both.

The newer and more modern rooms with Ocean views
are worth the extra $$$.
They have both 220 and 110 outlets and wooden floors
with more modern appliance's.

If you choose one with a loft just beware that the steps are wood and winding
up to the second floor if you have a problem with steps stick to one level room.

There are 2 beaches at the hotel the Pettit beach offers lounges
and chairs. The Grand Case beach is very small and no lounges
on the beach.

They offer a nice touch with service on the beach when you raise
a flag by your seat as well as providing cold wash clothes during
the day to keep you cool.

The front desk was very nice as we arrived at 1PM
and they had us in out room a little after 2pm.

Special thanks to Lynn Taylor and Steve Wright for their help
in making a special vacation.

Everyone and I mean everyone from Housekeeping, Security,
Front Desk to Beach activity staff were very nice and helpful.

The one area that needs to be addressed is the Continental Breakfast. The staff
are very nice people and a few made for a fun and enjoyable meals when eating
at Sunset Café. If they could just offer different variety like more pastry rather than
French bread and more juice selections I believe it would be worth having the
Continental breakfast.

The town is very close to the hotel and there are some very good restaurants.
The ones I went to included Calmos Café on the beach, Captain Frenchy also on the beach.
Sunset Café and Piazza Pascal. Very safe to walk to every night so get out and enjoy.

The airport is easy to get in and out of and had no problems with transportation to and from
Hotel.

I hope that helps and again a big thank to the staff at GCBC for a great vacation.

Room Tip: Try for Ocean View rooms in the updated section.

We spent a week here, traveled around to some of the other beaches, but the further we got away from this place, the more we just wanted to turn around and go back. Its a completely safe leisurely 3-5min walk to the most amazing string of about a dozen restaurants you could ask for in any town in the world. The beaches at the resort are very private and not crowded at all. The place is the at the end of a road, so its quiet as well. The staff were very nice and helpful and the sunset cafe is great from dawn till dusk. We will be returning!

Room Tip: Go for the ocean view suite - its spacious, has a full kitchen and dining/sitting area and two balco...

Awesome views and great beach spot. Beautiful grounds with labels so you could learn the local plants. 10 minute walk to the center of grand case. Sunsets from the chairs on the grounds where fantastic. Wireless was free and accessible from anywhere on the grounds.

ALthough this was my 8th visit to St. Martin, it was my first stay at the Grand Case Beach Club. It was excellent. We had a bit of confusion the first day as our room was not available, but the Club provided us an excellent room and moved us the next day while we were at the beach. We did need to insist on keeping the safe key to the room until we returned to the beach. The location is wonderful. BOth the remodeled room and to be remodeled rooms were great - we were in one of each. The staff, housekeeping, restaurant, environment were perfect. The really nice aspect of this location is there is gated private parking, and you can walk into town for dinner - so no trauma with parking spaces. I will be booking next years trip as soon as the calendar for plane flights becomes available. Ocean view!

Room Tip: EIther garden or ocean are lovely.

Proximity to the small town of Grand Case is the best feature. It’s a great little town that’s about a 10 minute walk with outstanding restaurants. There are some grocery stores and a bakery as well as the usual clothing and gift shops. Everyone accepts dollars, but the exchange rate varies greatly from place to place. It was ranged from 1-1 to 1-1.3.

The hotel itself has definite ups and downs:
Ups: - The Sunset Café is great for dinner. Service is excellent, view of the sunset is awesome, the food is great and the prices are competitive. - The hotel has two beaches. The smaller one is nicer though most of the people opt for the larger beach. The water is calm, warm and crystal clear. The bottom is mostly sandy. There are a few rocks, but these can be easily seen and avoided. There are plenty of lounge chairs, but these are a few steps up on the grass. Unfortunately the sandy area is so small, you can’t fit lounge chairs. – The rooms are clean and comfortable and the views from the balconies are spectacular especially at sunset.
Downs: - The front desk was awful at check in, but better after that. The hotel will ask for your flight info so they can have your room ready when you arrive (so they say). Our flight landed after 2. We stopped at a grocery store for supplies on the way and got to the hotel at 2:45. Check in is at 3 and not a minute before, even if you have perishable groceries; which I told them about. There was no offer of allowing us to at least put the dairy products in the refrigerator. So you sit and wait watching your dairy products curdle until the magic hour.
- The Sunset Café is great for dinner, but much different at breakfast. The staff is courteous enough, but seems very insincere (with one notable exception). You get the distinct impression that you’re intruding and should just hurry and go. Again, they are very different at dinner.
- If you like pools; forget it. It’s little more than a plunge pool. The only upside is that it’s never crowded (for obvious reasons).
- There is a very small bar at the entrance of the restaurant apparently designed to allow you to sit while waiting for a table. If you’re looking for a place to sit have a cocktail, watch the sunset and make new friends, this is not it.
- Pet peeve: if you put coffee makers in the rooms, how about including coffee, sugar, filters and creamer? It’s a shame that if you’re a coffee freak (like my wife), your first order of business after check in is to walk to town to get the aforementioned supplies. I perfectly understand the idea of wanting the guests to go to the restaurant and spend money, but the coffee is free at the restaurant and it’s a different business besides. If you stop for groceries on the way from the airport (and you should), don’t forget coffee supplies.

Recently we traveled with husbands to St. Martin. Before going my friend and I really struggled with where to stay, what part of island, and/or if we wanted all inclusive.
After several hours we decided on Grand Case Beach Club. The reviews were mixed at that time. However when we drove into the facility and saw the Caribbean Ocean, Lush floral we knew we were in heaven.
We checked in at the office with Christine.....darling young lady.....who understood our need to relax for the week.
We got our keys and immediately went to the Sunset Café on the premises to have some lunch before going to our rooms. Phillipe who runs the restaurant remembered our names after only 5 min. He has a wonderful staff that enhances your stay as well. The food....the view...was SPECTACULAR! Of course we had to tell our guys to close their mouths as the saw some of the bathing topless beauties nearby while in the restaurant!!
Our room was a 2 BR in room 54 which had a great view of the sailboats, mountains and almost sunsets......cloudy nights was the only reason we didn't see the sunset. Clean....Clean....and darling Rena kept us happy and laughing!!
We had lounge chairs in front of our room to walk out to and enjoy the morning, afternoon and evening while being in sun/shade.
We were so glad after exploring the island we were NOT on the busy Dutch side as we wanted good food....relaxation....and great company!
I do recommend a car...drive on the right side like USA.... as you will want to explore the island and you are about 30 minutes from Julian Airport. I was also glad we arrived early in the day as it was tricky at night.
The French restaurants in GR Case were good......but check out the LOLO's
Also at the hotel we had the most wonderful croissants, fr bread coffee and juice each morning....can go to the restaurant or pick up and bring to the room. We did both.
Would we go again? Most definitely.....would we stay there.....ABSOLUTELY!

Room Tip: Get a rental car for exploring.....AVOID Phillipsburg unless you love crowds...go to Marigot......an...

We read the great TripAdvisor reviews before we booked here and gleaned helpful info by contacting a couple visitors who posted here. Thanks to all for a great find! We loved the resort and will definitely return.

Our room (#120) overlooked the bay and the balcony was huge. It was much more modern than I expected. I gather that there is some variation among the rooms because they are individually owned. No elevators.

We enjoyed daily breakfast at the Sunset Café (good coffee!) but never ate dinner there because we had so many other places on our wish list. For breakfast the service was always quick and cheerful. It’s a bit confusing that you pay separately, not to the resort but to the café, when you check out.

The beach is cute, but we usually chose a quiet spot on the rocks, where there are comfy lounges and good shade. This resort is not for everyone but is very quiet and relaxing.

Room Tip: Must have ocean view!
