“Perfect for a getaway!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

My wife and i spent 6 days at the GCBC and found it to be fantastic. The location is wonderful and also a bit secluded since its the resort furtherst down the road from the city center. The rooms are all close to the small, sandy and perfect beach where you get chairs and all beach/sea gear complimentary. Also there is a rocky peninsula which makes for a great sunset viewpoint. This is also where the sunset cafe is placed, a super cafe with nice staff and good food. Can highly recommend GCBC. Only complaint is that the wifi is very unstable. Make sure to get an oceanview room!

We loved Grand Case itself and would recommend Grand Case Beach Club to anyone desiring a Caribbean vacation. From the Sunset Cafe, to car rental, to planning excursions or just renting equipment, we could manage our entire visit within the resort. We snorkeled for the first time, and our guide, Ben was very informative and helpful. We were within walking distance if the best dining in the Caribbean and enjoyed both the restaurants such as L'Auberge Gourmand or the LoLos, as well as the shopping, the steel drum bands, and the street art. We hope to return again soon!

We are experienced 35+ year Caribbean travelers, one of whom has been SCUBA diving for 40+ years. Our family of 4, with two adult children aged 21+ and 25+, hadn't been together for over 4 months and we decided to reconnect as a family at GCBC. My wife and I had not been to St. Martin in over 30 years and definitely wanted to go back to the French side of the island. We also wanted to be in or near Grand Case because of all the fabulous restaurants and dining opportunities. We did our research and decided to try GCBC and OUR EXPECTATIONS WERE SURPASSED!!!

The two beaches are incredibly beautiful - one with full sun and Beach Bar service and the other beach is lined with Sea Grape trees that act as natural umbrellas for shade. The staff at the hotel and the Sunset Café on the property are wonderful, hospitable, smiling, funny, kind. [Phillipe, Lolo, Karine, Carlos and Brenda were all terrific!] The food at the Sunset Café is also excellent. Much of the water sports equipment is available for no charge. The views of Anguilla and Grand Case from the hotel and the Sunset Café are unmatched.

Location was a perfect 5 - 10 minute walk to some of the best dining on the planet.

The best surprise was where you spend the least amount of time - your room. We took two units, one a studio (like a regular hotel room) and a deluxe room with a larger sitting area. All the rooms have been recently and BEAUTIFULLY renovated and all have totally renovated bathrooms, kitchens, new floors, new paint. Every room has at least one terrace overlooking the water.

In summary - we wouldn't change a thing! Staff, beaches, accommodations, food was an 11 on a scale of 1-10.

Ok, it is a bit worrying when you drive there down a broken single lane road but the trip is worth it, great location, quiet beach and nice restaurant.
We had a sea facing room/suite which was very modern, clean and tidy.
The restaurants of Grand Case are no more than a 5 minute walk and the selection is great.
Great place, will surely return one day

From the moment you enter the property your vacation stay is fabulous! When I entered my room I was in awe of how really nice it was. The staff, from the reception, to the housekeeping, to the security to the restaurant, to the recreation and activities are all wonderful people who make your stay a great experience and wanting you to go back. I was there for a week and being a single woman I had a great time, met really nice people who I hope to see again at The Grand Case Beach Club. There is a very, very short walk to town where you will find great restaurants and little shops. The small town boasts great fishing, boating, water sports and memorable day trips. You cannot lose staying at the Grand Case Beach Resort and meeting the wonderful people of St. Maarten/Sint Martin. Wonderful shopping in both Marigot and Phillipsburg, visit the great markets on both sides of the island, enjoy wonderful beaches with crystal clear clean azure water. I can't wait to go back!!

Room Tip: My room number was 112 in the middle building oceanfront steps away from the beach.

We booked a week at the Grand Case based on Trip Advisor reviews and it OVER met our expectations. We had an ocean front suite- it had 2 floors .. full kitchen with bedroom on second floor. 1.5 bathrooms. The decor was NOT "dated" as listed in several travel books (ie: Fodors). The staff were OVERLY gracious/friendly and you were welcomed with a "Bonjour" every morning. The included breakfast was only a fresh bread/pastry basket/coffee/juice but eggs/fresh fruit could be purchased for a nominal fee. The decor was NOT "dated" as listed in several travel guides. Security was present and friendly. We felt like we had the ocean to ourselves... You could quickly walk into Grand Case/restaurant row within minutes. Tips: Best dinner in Grand Case is Taste of the Table- a "lolos" open barbecue. CHEAP and FABULOUS food but have cash (they prefer USA dollars v. euros). You do NOT need cash to exit the airport though the dinging options are few and CASH ONLY. If you rent a car you need CASH (prefer USA dollar) at the gas stations. You can bargain for EVERYTHING while shopping (we saved a lot of money and got great buys on jewelry, linen and even rum to take home). Loterie farms is worth the trip- great hike and restaurant. BEST sunset on St Martin! We rented our car from Leisure Car Rent-- they had competitive rates and met us AT the airport arrival area with our name on a sign and we returned at the front of the airport v. dealing with rental agencies and a van to the airport. Have directions printed BEFORE arriving to get from the airport to your resort- the roads are marked but NOT easy to follow. Best restaurant in Phillipsburg is L'Escargot. We had a FABULOUS lunch (with escargot) and the waiter gave us great tips on where to shop for best prices and the owner Joel spent 15 minutes talking with us.

Room Tip: Be sure to get an ocean front suite... the garden view rooms do not compare...

We spent 5 nights at the GCBC from July9 to July 14. Having a guest at the beach club on several occasions over the years it is nice to see the resort is being well kept and updated. The staff and the GCBC , from the housekeeping staff to the front desk to the security and grounds people, make your stay memorable. A smile and a greeting go along way to making your stay special. The one thing not always touched on is the varied make up of guests staying here. We met a very nice couple from New York whom added to our enjoyment of our stay. Families, couples and singles from all parts of the world make for an interesting and very welcoming feel to the resort. As always the owner and staff at the Sunset Restaurant provide great food, cold beverages and good fun. Thanks Chantal for making us feel like family !! In closing i would recommend the GCBC to anyone looking for a top notch vacation in St Martin.
