Sol e Luna is a bit off the beaten path. Unfortunately is a adjacent to a lagoon. Just after sunset, a biblical swarm of mosquitoes descends upon this open air restaurant and makes dining impossible. The waiter was attentive and friendly, the remainder of the staff unfortunately not. The food was very good. Beware of trying to make any modifications in the way a dish is prepared - the instructions will get lost in translation.
The prices, however, are extremely high, even for "upscale" St Martin. The restaurant states that no "tip" is included, but I believe a "service charge" of 15 % is (by mandate).
So, an added 15% tip will yield an overall 30% surcharge on an already tidy sum. To top it off, American Express is not accepted because there fees are "too high". Too high?? After spending over $250 per couple you are telling me their fees are too high?
