“French ambiance and good food”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

We arrived at L'Estaminet after having arrived in St. Martin and Grand Case the same day. We were so tired, but needed a meal. The staff was very welcoming, also to the kids who came by to "trick or treat", this was at halloween. They had a big pot of candy, and although the night was busy, they still had the time to meet the kids at the door.

We had "today's special", which was octopus, and lobster bisque as starters, both were very tasty and well prepared. The main courses were filled chicken breasts and a sole tournedos. Both were well prepared, but a few elements were lacking salt. Desserts will have to wait until next time, because we will most definitely be back.

“Recommendations were correct”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

I usually check Trip Advisor first, but after three separate people who live on the island recommended L'Estaminet, we decided to give it a shot even before reading the reviews. On our way we were stuck in a major traffic jam and the trip, which should have taken us 20 minutes took 1 1/2 hours. My husband was not a happy camper and I was praying that we wouldn't be disappointed. Bottom line, it was wonderful! The food and service were outstanding. The asparagus soup, the scallops, the beef tenderloin and the special chocolate desert were all wonderful. House wines were delicious too. Don't miss this place! The owners take pride in what they do and it shows.

“Creative and tasty!”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

This was an excellent dining experience, and we will definitely return here every time we come to St. Martin. The owner and servers are very friendly and accommodating, the environment is tastefully decorated, and the food is nothing short of spectacular. There wasn't a single let down throughout the whole meal. Although not every flavor combination was perfectly balanced, most of them were, and some of them took us into outer space. Not to be missed!

“Unforgettable meal at l'Estaminet”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

We ate here a year ago and I dreamt about it - my second meal did not disappoint. I had the hot asparagus soup appetizer, which came with a small dish of BACON-flavored creme brulé, and a small scoop of CAMEMBERT ice cream. You take about 1/4 teaspoon of the creme brulé (which does not have bacon bits in it, just tastes like bacon) and 1/4 teaspoon of the ice cream, then a generous spoonful of soup, all in one bite. The asparagus flavor is first, strong and complex (the broth must be carefully made), then you taste the bacon, and finally as the ice cream melts in your mouth, you get a pop of camembert. It was the most amazing soup.
