“Best Caprese On The Island”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

First time in Saint Martin in over 20-years and decided to visit Grand Case and Il Nettuno for lunch. A lovely restaurant, on the water, with very attentive staff. Enjoyed a wonderful caprese with anchovies , balsamic reduction, capers, tiny Italian olives and of course vine ripe tomatoes, fresh basil and fresh mozzarella. A unique combination of ingredients for a caprese and large enough to bring back the unfinished potion to the condo for seconds.

“All it has is a view”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Should have talked to the locals before wasting our money here. After a couple of great French dining experiences, we thought a classic Italian meal was in order. What we got was bland and less flavorful than what you can buy out of a can. Service was rushed and unprofessional. New owners clearly don't get fine dining.

“A Nice View...but a Chain Restaurant Feel”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

After having an excellent dinner the previous night, we were looking forward to wonderful italian food in Grand Case. Alas, we would NOT find it in il Nettuno! We knew we were in trouble when...
(1) our waiter breathlessly ran through our choices as if he were speedreading
(2) we asked for the specials, and got a laundry list instead
(3) started on a flavorless tapenade with stale bread
(4) moved on to a lobster bisque that lacked any defining character
(5) followed up with pasta that made Chef Boyardee look like three star Michelin

I could go on, but I trust you get the point. Save yourself time and money, and go to one of the better restaurants in Grand Case.

“Good food, not thrilled with management”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

The food was good, on par with other restaurants in the area but no better. The staff were friendly and reasonably attentive. The experience was soured when the bill came. My wife asked our initial waiter at the beginning of dinner if the restaurant accepted US dollars at par with the Euro (several others in the area do) and we were told yes. When the bill was presented and we paid, we were told that such was not the case. The waiter denied having said so, and management made no conciliatory gesture or effort to resolve the difference. In fairness, the waiter was working in a second language and may have misunderstood the question, but I was upset at having the manager simply demand full payment. I walked away from an otherwise decent meal, unhappy with the experience. Poorly handled by the restaurant.

“Lunch with a view”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

Il Nettuno (The Neptune) was a very nice stop for lunch. We had the tomato pie with goat cheese and a caprese salad. A nice easy lunch for a beautiful and warm day. The ocean view made the lunch all the more enjoyable.
