“Really Nice Ambience and Food”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

Reservations needed because its crowded but is, nevertheless, intimate. Charming french countryside style ambiance. Tablecloths, etc. Prompt service with nice amenities. Good menu and wine selection. The right combination for a leisurely and intimate dinner. I had lobster bisque, monkfish and grilled shrimp with mashed potatoes and pureed eggplant. My wife had a cesar salad and vegatable plate which included a nice variety of whole and pureed vegatables. I had a glass of house white wine, a pinot gris that was a little too new, and some excellent dessert wine. We shared an excellent lemon tart. The only thing that keeps romance and special occasions at four instead of five was the cramped space and crowd, but it's hard to be too critical of success. This is truly an outstanding restaurant.

“Great despite power outage”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

We had reservations and when we arrived, there was a power outage (in the whole village). Great deal of commotion, customers trying to finish their meals, lots of people shuffling around on the street in the dark. I have to commend the staff for staying calm, providing us with drinks, seating us (all 12) with a delay that was quite reasonable considering the circumstances, at the outside tables that we had requested, and serving us wonderful food. Some members of our party did not quite like what they ordered but I would like to attribute that to the power outage.

“Bad experience probably good food”
Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

Had reservations. Arrived on time. Dressed elegant casual. Was given a table in the back empty room where we were surrounded by walls on three sides.Main dining room was only half filled. Asked to sit at an empty table for 2 in the main dining room. We were reluctantly given that table and given menus. Ten minutes later, server came back and asked if we wanted water. Five minutes later,we were asked if we were ready to order. We stated no,we would like to order a martini. Order was taken. For the next four minutes, someone came by every 60 seconds and asked if we we ready to order. Never received martini's. We got up and left. Went next door to La Villa. Had a very good experience. We have been going to L'Auberge Gourmande for years before Pascal took it over, always had a positive experience. It will be a long time before we go back, many more choices available.
