Rhino Riders in St Martin are alot of fun!! You drive you boat with your guides. They take you from the Dutch side of the island to the French side. It is a fun and different way to tour the island of St. Martin. On our tour we stopped at Happy Bay for a swim. It is a beautiful beach on the French side of the island. We swam for a little while until it was time to head back to the Dutch side of the island. Our guides were informative and a lot of fun!! They stayed and talked to us while we waited for the bus to pick us up. I would do this tour again if i get the chance to go back to St. Martin!!!!!

We booked this excursion through Island Marketing. We were dropped off at Rhino right on time at 9:45 when they told us to be there and checked in for our 10:15 excursion. As 10:15 approached and we were still just sitting outside I went inside to the counter and asked when we would be getting our orientation etc. The woman told us soon as 10:15 was giving us 30 minutes to check in and that is not the excusrion time. (It took 2 minutes to check in). There was mass confusion at the dock. Boats not working, fuel being added, one boat with six inches of water because someone took the plug out. Finally, at 11:30 I reminded them again that we were waiting (4 of us) and were still waiting to be talked to. They put us with a large group of 20. Get the four of us a two minute orientation. We were given a boat and rode around in the dock area for 15 minutes while everyone else got in their boats. We were finally on our way by 12:00. The ride is very nice as you follow your guide into open waters. Our boat conked out along the way but the guide was quick to get back to us to restart it. He opened the front and had to connect some fuel line. When I asked if this is why our boat was slower than the others, the guide went on to reprimand us saying all Americans are too competitive and think about nothing but speed and more speed. He said we should be enjoying the wind blowing and the water etc. We got to the snorkeling place. We bring our own equipment since it doesn't have to be adjusted and no one else wears it. Well, the tour guide gathers us around to tell us we will be there for about 1/2 hour to snorkel or swim up to the beach. So he asks if everyone has their snorkel gear. It turns out that NO snorkel gear was distributed to the passsengers on the dock nor did the guides have any with them. So much for snorkeling for those people. So about six of us had our own gear and was able to snorkel. Rhinos may want to rethink their snorkel area. Of all of the times we have snorkeled in the Caribbean, there were the least amount of fish I have ever seen. No colorful coral or plantlife. There were a lot of sea urchins to see. I understand they can't control the fish population but there has to be a better place to take the passengers. And please stop making such a big deal about it being a clothing optional beach. One of the guides made it sound like we were there to look at naked people. By the end of the tour, there were a total of six boats which conked out along the way. One couple's boat was switched out with a guide's boat since they couldn't get it working. We were back to the dock at about 2:15.

Alfred was our guide and he was a blast! This something everyone should do once. The boats are fun and have alittle power. My husband really enjoyed the things. The snorkeling and swimming is great. Alfred will give you alittle history about the area. I wish we had some snacks and maybe some drinks. Alfred did bring some water which really helped out. It's a blast!
