“Terrible food and unappealing decor”
Reviewed February 8, 2014

Staying at the Royal Palm, we wanted to walk to dinner, and Caribbean Grilled Flavors was right across the street. 7 pm on a Friday night during high season and the place was virtually empty. The service was blasé, and the food was bland and boring. Will definitely not return.

“Fantastic Food and Great View”
Reviewed February 6, 2014

This was by far our favorite place to eat while on St. Martin. Marty at The Dream Pool Bar recommended Caribbean Grilled Flavors and we're so glad he did!
The view was really cool and if you look through the wood floor slats or off the deck you can see the tarpon swimming below you. My husband and I ate there twice during our week stay and both times we were just floored at how wonderful the food tasted. We are still craving their jerk grouper...no one compares!
Caribbean Grilled Flavors gave us that local island feel we were looking for in our trip. We can't wait to go back...the food was fantastic and the locals of St. Martin are wonderful.

“You must try Jerk Lobster”
Reviewed January 31, 2014 via mobile

Ivan our waiter was fantastic. Very friendly Canadian. We returned again on our next visit because of the food and more because if Ivan. Unfortunitly he was off that day. Drinks are real good too. Pricing very fair. Although the place does not look busy at times this is a must place to eat. You will not be disappointed.
Ty Ivan for a memorable time

“Potential Disaster Turned into Best Memory of the Trip.”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

Quite frankly, being at Caribbean Grilled Flavors only happened because our original destination, Lee's Grill, was closed. Caribbean is next door, it looked clean from the outside and the menu appealed. However, there were some warning signs. First of all, it was locked at 1:00 when the posted opening hour was noon. We were greeted by the female manager who said the waitress on duty had called in sick and her replacement would be in shortly. We decided to sit and look at the menu and enjoy the view out the back. We ordered drinks, the Bammie Wammie fries and the Jamaican fishcake fritters. We had then decided to have only the drinks and appetizers and chalk up the experience to making a poor choice.

Shortly, thereafter the manager came back with the appetizers and said that since the waitress hadn't shown up and she knew nothing about bartending she couldn't serve us the gin and tonics we had requested. She didn't want to serve us anything which wasn't perfect. We asked if we could make our own drinks (G & T's are pretty simple) and, surprisingly, she thought that was a good idea. So, she accompanied me behind the bar while one of our group filmed the activity and I made my debut as a visiting bartender. No visa but hopefully I won't be prosecuted.

With drinks in hand we turned our attention to the food and after one bite we knew we were staying for more. All doubts about the food disappeared and we ordered the fish and chips and oyster chowder. I have never had a piece of fried fish which was as well prepared. The coating was light, almost gossamer thin. It made us feel less guilty about eating fried food. And then there was the oyster stew, rich in texture and taste. That alone was worth the trip.

Visit this place. No bartender? Ask to make your own. Sit at the end of the restaurant and look at the big boats. Look through the slats in the floor and watch fish swim underneath the building. Eat excellent food. And remember that you are on the friendly island, relax, put your feet up and have a positive vacation experience. Even if you are unexpectedly working as a bartender. Especially if you are unexpectedly working as a bartender.

Will we do strive for an excellent service, however, I truly did enjoy being in the company of self served customers. Come back to us, ask for Bib, she will ensure you “are served” your G&T complimentary. After all, it’s all about making your stay at Caribbean Grilled Flavors/St Maarten memorable!
