“great time at the atrium”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2006

We traded our Myrtle Beach Time Share for the Atrium. We couldn't have been happier. Everyone was friendly and it seemed like we had known them forever. We had a great time at the bucaneer bar and ate the best hot dog we had ever eaten. I'm serious!!! The room was great and the view of the mountains was awesome. We plan on going again next year, hopefully for two weeks. Would highly reccomend!

Stayed at Atrium Resort for the first 5 days of Honeymoon. Upon arrival to Atrium we were greeted by an extremely helpful and accomadating man named Jack. We had booked our stay through a timeshare exchange. Jack brought us to see two different units he had available and let us choose. The units were crystal clean, spacious and extremely modern. Just downstairs, the beach was beautiful. There is an excellent Tiki-bar named Buckaneer Beach Bar right next to the Atrium beach. Very friendly service and a fun relaxed atomosphere. They serve burgers, sandwiches, and pizza. They also have a waitress who will bring you food and/or drinks right to your beach chairs. The beach was cleaned and raked every morning and there were two uniformed security guards from the Atrium keeping watch. (although in 5 days time, only one beach vendor strolled by to offer us some local crafts)

There is a small grocery right across the street from The Atruim which has virtually everything we needed throughout the trip. The Atrium has an activities desk which will happily arrange an excursion for any guest at the resort. We reccomend the Rhino Riders Adventure, where you get your own 10 foot raft with outboard motor and tour the island with a guide.

Every restaurant we dined in was well above average and within walking distance of the resort. A few standouts:

Picante' - Located directly adjacent to the Atrium. Top-notch spanish style food, romantic atomosphere with seating by candlelight and tiki torches, directly on the beach. Excellent service and live music multiple times during the week.

Lee's - Smoked Ribs, Yellowfin Tuna..... incredible!..... oh yea, and more Smoked Ribs...mmmm (FYI - there is a Spa across the street from Lee's.... i would drop my wife off at the spa, then run across the street to Lee's, sit at the bar and indulge in Ribs and Beer...mmm)

Halsey's - Pan-Seared Grouper w/ a Blue crab and Lobster Sauce, Roasted Garlic, Goat Cheese Whipped Potatoes, and Sautéed Artichoke Hearts...... unreal.

I am glad i referenced the reviews from this site before I chose to stay at the Atrium. Most of the reviews here were right-on and I want to reinforce what a postitive stay it was.

We stayed at the Atrium...The rooms where in need of updating! They looked as though nothing had been done since the 70's, that is probably why it didn't seem crowded...everyone left the property as soon as they awoke. The beach was dirty, that is why it wasn't crowded! There was no restautant! BUT you said that you felt safe!!??!! There was a purse snatching right in front of the place!!!! and it was not late at night...I saw it from my balcony.

My wife and I stayed at thr Atrium Resort in January 2006. It was just what we were looking for. Let me tell you what we look for. First a clean, well maintained facility. The Atrium is both, nothing fancy just neat and well taken care of. Second we look for a quiet and an uncrowded beach. The Atrium was full and yet it never felt crowded. The beach was awesome and never a rush in the morning for a palapa. There were about 20 palapa's on the beach. The beaches are great on St Martin and the Atriums was nice and peaceful. Thirdly location(supermarket restaurants etc.) The Atrium is in Simpson Bay which we felt was one the best locations on the Island. We were never approached about timeshares and always felt safe and comfortable at the Atrium. Say hello to Patrick at the front desk.

We went to the atrium from England and stayed for 2 weeks.. On 22nd September 2005 and stayed until 8th October 2005, what a fantastic hotel. This was the first time we had used our timeshare, and we decided to use it for our honeymoon. The apartment was great, very spacious and very clean, the hotel staff were extremely friendly except for the woman who rented us the car, but she is not a member of the hotel staff. We found it to be a little expensive on the island. But as we where on our honeymoon the money was there to be spent.
We stayed on the 3rd floor and had a great view of the caribbean sea for our 2 week stay. The only downside to the holiday was the constant badgering from the timeshare sellers, both in the hotel and on the street. But once you tell them to go away in a forceful but polite manner they soon get the message. If you are going, renting a car is a neccessity as getting around the island can't be done unless you have a vehicle, you can use the bus service which will cost you $1 per person and they seem to go where ever you want.

The pool at the atrium is abit small but as you are almost on the beach of simpson bay and the clear caribbean sea this is a small price to pay..

I hope you enjoy this hotel as much as we did we will certainly be going back

The Atrium is located on Simpson Bay. The beach is clean and has a gentle ocean. There is a little restaurant right on the beach which makes the best ribs and lobsters right on the grill located just yards away. There is also an outdoor bar and another little hut which makes good sandwiches and hotdogs. The grill belongs to the restaurant next door to the Atrium. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Atrium Resort has a small kiddie pool and little larger pool with a nice area to sunbath in. The hotel is kept very clean and though we were not there with children I though it would be a great place for young children as the beach doesn't get a ruff surf and they have hammocks that are shaded by palm trees so you don't have to fry in the sun. The staff is just wonderful and they can't seem to do enough for you. What we like best is that they don't push you to buy timeshare the whole time you are there. There are a couple of casinos within walking distance. The hotel has a parking garage for their guests which has a security card to enter. There is a shopping mall just down the street as well as many great restaurants. We drove over to the French side and went to Pinel Island. We paid $6 pp each for a round trip by boat to the islandl. There they have a number of restaurants which rent you a chair & umbrella. We snorkeled and swam on a beautiful beach the whole day. The lunch was very good too. There are so many great beaches on the island. Near our hotel is a place where you can rent jet skis and what they call watercraft boats. They are small zodics and they lead you to a great place to snorkel. They are alot of fun. The best part is the shopping as St Martin is a Duty Free Island. The gold and diamond jewelry is unbelieveable. We also took a ferry ride to Anguilla for the day. What fantastic beaches! Nothing there to do but the beaches but well worth the trip. The island os St Martin has alot to see and do. They have a butterfly farm which is amazing to see.
