“Great food and great ambiance”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

I had dinner at Pride of India in Marigot, Saint Martin on Saturday night and had a great meal and a great time, for the best Indian food in the Caribbean, I recommend a visit with a view of the Saint Martin-Anguilla ferry.

“A dining experience”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

Two weeks ago we had the wonderful pleasure of our first visit to Pride of India in Marigot St Martin. It was so wonderful, that we returned this Saturday with another group of friends and again it was wonderful!! Pride of India is on the second floor in a building next to the West Indies Mall in Marigot. The atmosphere is modern and sleek. The wait staff very friendly as are your hosts Vicki and Dimple -husband and wife owners. Though I do not remember all the names of the dishes, I do recall that we started with appetizers of Samosa a light puff pastry filled with vegetables and my personal favorite Hara Bara Kebobs which are vegetable patties. We also had "fried" cottage cheese which were slightly spicy just enough to waken your taste buds. As we were with a group of friends there were several delicious dishes that we shared; cocoanut shrimp, a chicken dish, lamb stew, vegetable and rice, Raita ( a sour cream/ cucumber dish), mango chutney and of course garlic and butter Naan (Indian bread). We selected mild to medium spiciness and found that it was very comfortable in taste. If you have any question regarding the menu choices or the degree of "spiciness" the staff is very willing to guide you. There will definitely be return trips to this wonderful restaurant.

“absolutely wonderful food and atmosphere”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

We have eaten at many Indian restaurants in the NY metropolitan area, but are just thrilled to have found this gem, recently moved to Marigot from a former small roadside location in Simpson Bay. The new facility is sophisticated and comfortable, a view over the Front du Mer across from La Vie en Rose, and the food is even better than previously. We have been back three times this year, each time trying new items, and never being disappointed. They are careful to not make things too spicy, so we have asked them to increase the heat and our results have been wonderfully tasty, not just hot, as in so many restaurants. The owners are a delightful couple and we wish them well in their new venture, which is without question the best Indian food in St. Martin!

“Fine Indian Dining”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Pride of India is a small restaurant with simple contemporary decor tucked away on the second floor of a mall in Marigot. We were fortunate to be invited to this restaurant by some friends, otherwise we probably would have never discovered this gem of a restaurant. Our friends who are Indian ,took the lead on ordering a variety of entrees for us to experience and enjoy; including dishes made with chicken, shrimp, lamb, mock chicken and vegetable combinations. Although I cannot name all of the dishes we tried that evening, I can say that each dish was distinctly different from the next and delicious ! It was obvious that there was a talented chef in the kitchen who knew how to imaginatively combine spices to create the flavorful sauces and dishes we sampled. Subtle or pungent, hot or mild, meat based or vegetarian there was something for every palate. Despite the cautions about the heat of the spices in some of the dishes by the server, don't be afraid to try the normal medium spiced dishes as prepared : they are well balanced and flavorful with just enough heat to make you want more. My only regret is that we did not go to this restaurant earlier in our vacation as I would have returned another night. If you go to this restaurant without any knowledge of Indian cuisine, the menu describes the dishes as prepared and the servers are very helpful in guiding your to your choices. I would suggest ordering a variety of dishes so that you can experience the different flavor profiles this chef has to offer. Don't miss the breads to enjoy your dinner with; they are soft and delicious and a compliment to the stewed meats.
