It was by complete luck that we happened upon Tropicana prior to lunch on our first visit to Marigot. Though they were not yet open, a nice gentlemen stepped out to talk about their menu and he promised a fabulous French lunch if we returned. We did, and they delivered. During our week long visit to St Maarten we actually made a special trip back to Marigot just to eat at this restaurant. We tried a number of dishes, all were excellent and the portions were quite large. Salads can easily be split between two people. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and the portion size, and the menu is quite diverse. They also have some daily specials. The staff was knowledgable, efficient and friendly and the place is very clean and attractively decorated. The front is open to the marina so there really isn't a bad seat in the house. If you visit, I recommend that you dine at a slow, leisurely pace to enjoy the food and ambiance. Also, don't over eat because you do not want to miss dessert! The very capable (and quite attractive) chef is a true artist with dessert. Both the taste and presentation are superb!
