We did not plan on staying at this hotel. We were bumped from our flight after a long, exhausting day at the airport. The hotel management welcomed our busload of cranky travelers and announced that the restaurant would remain open beyond their closing time, just to accommodate us. We had one of the nicest dinners of the whole week. We were offered a lovely chicken dish or mahi, along with a salad. The room was very clean and comfortable. After a refreshing nights sleep, we were shown to the breakfast buffet, which we enjoyed. Since United Airlines made no contact with the hotel regarding our pickup or flight, the desk people called and gathered all the information for us.
From the short time we stayed, I did note that the beach area and pool looked very inviting. The lobby was very attractive as was the dining room. I can't say enough about how nice the hotel was to our band of weary travelers. Since the airline paid for our stay, I can't comment on the rates since I don't know them.

If you are going to this hotel you would want to upgrade from the basic room looking at Lagoon, we had booked with Sunwing and therefore did not get one of the upgraded rooms with flat screen TV and ? Newer beds. However, we had great Wi Fi and not all rooms have access as advertised. The rooms are spotless and roomy with a balcony. Due to our view we did not use this much. I would book on Ocean side next time. The hotel is older but offers stunning view of Marigot and is literally on the ocean. Snorkelling right off the beach if you go along the rocks is teaming with marina life. The staff were excellent mostly and we give a call out to Eloidie (?sp) at the front desk for ensuring our stay was comfortable. As well, Tony, the bartender, entertaining and great service, we learned some French and common love of music! . Staff tried their best to communicate with is as French is the language and we are English speaking customers with limited French. I would stay here again as it is walking distance to Marina, ++ restaurants and shopping in Marigot. We rented a car and travelled extensively. This is our second time to St Marteen and first stay on the French side.

Room Tip: If you are going to this hotel you would want to upgrade from the basic room looking at Lagoon, we h...

Our first visit to St. Martin and our stay at Hotel Beach Plaza made our experience awesome (Feb. 5 & 6)! Staff was friendly and helpful. If you can, try to get your room with a balcony overlooking the ocean - such a view that you won't regret!! Rooms were very nice and clean, and includes a delicious breakfast. Our flight got in late and they even opened up the bar for us when we arrived, which was appreciated by our group of 8. The hotel is located in a safe part of town and in a short walking distance from lots of good shopping! We loved the hotel and plan to stay there again if we ever go back to Marigot.

Room Tip: We enjoyed having a balcony that overlooked the ocean - beautiful view from the 2nd floor!

Our weekend stay was a very pleasant surprise. The hotel lobby and surrounding outside patio has a very beautiful view of the bay with comfortable chairs and cocktail service. There is a swimming platform out into the bay and a very small, yet nice beach with comfortable lounges and umbrellas. Our quiet room had a "street view" with a patio and a nice view of the mountains above Marigot, even though the street itself is not so attractive. The clean, comfortable room and bathroom were both good sized. The small refrigerator in the room was quite useful. The breakfast included in the room price was quite extensive and very enjoyable. (However, somewhat on the downside, some of the hot items were on the cold side on Sunday morning). We had lunch in the restaurant and it was very good, in the French style with good salads, nice sauces on the fresh fish, and good desserts. The hotel is a convenient short walk from the ferry terminal, the markets, shops, and bakeries of Marigot, and the numerous restaurants surrounding the small old port that opens into Simpson Bay Lagoon. The hotel is not new and is slightly on the tired side but still of good, comfortable quality. The street in the front of the hotel, as well as the exterior, is not very appealing but this all changes when you enter the hotel. We had originally booked the hotel as only a place to stay for a weekend visit to Marigot between time in Anguilla and Grand Case, but we found the hotel itself to be a very enjoyable and special experience. We very much look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Street side on 2nd (European) floor was cheaper than bay side and had a nice mountain view and was q...

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel the week of Feb 2 to 9. We had a great experience there. While the hotel is not brand new and fancy it is very nice and charming. The included breakfast was delicious with plenty of fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, crepes, cereal.. anything you would need.

The staff is friendly, the views are beautiful. It is close to a simply grocery store if you want to make picnic lunches and it is walking distance from Port Royale and delicious food and nightlife.

We rented a car and drove all over the island. There was plenty of parking at the hotel and we feel in love with this amazing island.

We would stay at Hotel Beach Plaza again and recommend it.

Room Tip: Rent a car!

Warning: I'm really tired of the resort hotels with thousands of guests all trying to do the same thing at the same time.
If you're still with me, then you should consider this hotel.
First, the view. Though neither of us are sailors, my husband became very interested in watching the bay action from our balcony. Marigot Bay is shallow, so no cruise ships, no crowds, just lovely sailboats and yachts anchored in the bay or going out to sea. The shoreline is barely 20 feet from the hotel, bringing the sound of surf all night.
Second, it's a walking location. Some of Marigot's best restaurants and shops front the Marina port la Royale which is 2 blocks away. A block in the other direction is a large (for the island) grocery store. The market in downtown Marigot is just a walk along the shore. The bus goes by all the time but there's also plenty of off-street parking. The hotel's beach with sandy shore always had plenty of open lounge chairs, not to mention the tanning on the dock extended into the bay. (see photo.) Also plenty of chairs by the pool and cushy wicker chairs facing the bay, one of our favorite places because of the nice breeze. There's a hotel lending library with books in 6 languages.
The rooms are ample, with a mini refrigerator, desk, armoire, and tiled bath. Nothing exotic; it's an older hotel but not built cheaply. It has good bones and it's quite clean. The air conditioning could chill a ballroom but is easily controlled with a remote and is silent. Most of the time we just opened the patio doors.
I liked the buffet breakfast that was provided with the room: no checking badges or scrambling for a restaurant reservation, just an oceanside space with courteous staff and a menu that's clearly meant to cover the preferences of their guests. Traditional sliced cheese/meat/yogurt for the Europeans; eggs bacon sausage and potatoes for the Americans/English; cereals, fresh breads, pastry, coffee, juice and a big fresh fruit spread.
Most evenings there was an musician in the main area but we didn't stay around much; there's lots to see in Marigot. There's also a big lobster buffet on Fridays at the hotel but we didn't go. Thursday night at the Marina Royale was a festival with live music, performers and crafts, plus the shops stayed open during the evening. There's a similar event on Tuesday evenings in Grand Case.
The staff spoke English and those at the lobby bar were thoughtful and informative, offering ideas about the area as well as attentive service. Ask for the crushed ice lemonade--non alcoholic but refreshing.
We made the trip to Orient Bay a couple times and drove through the hotels, villas and condos built in that area; we concluded that we made the right choice for our interests.

Room Tip: All Oceanfront rooms are great and quiet.

We went for our 30TH ANNIVERSARY and were very happy with hotel and area.
We arrived at night and were checked in right away to a clean and functional room. We were given a free drink at the bar and had a look around what a view from the wrap around deck. just beautiful. The breakfast buffet was good offering most breakfast items and over the two weeks we tried them all. The fresh buns were great with an expresso while we watched the sailboats and ships on the veranda. The restaurant was great at making sure everything was continually being replenished. The view was breathtaking and although their beach wasn't big it was okay and they also had a huge sunning deck if the beach wasn't your thing. The hotel staff were friendly, helpful and spoke English which was great for us. Elodie was especially wonderful from her genuine sweet manner to her greetings and going that extra to ensure us a great stay. The town of Marigot was beautiful to its quaint little shops and great restaurants. Everyone was so friendly and outgoing giving us travel tips and ideas to help us make the most of our stay. The hotel is situated near everything within a 5-10 min walk and has an incredible view. We would like to thank everyone for our great holiday and will definitely recommend!

Room Tip: We did overlook parking lot but being on the third floor all we noticed was the marina, just beautif...
