Owner description: Those who hike to the top of the island's highest mountain are rewarded with wonderful views.

I read far too many reviews telling visitors to beward of leaving you car at the top of the road. So, we didn't. Indeed it is a very steep road (though not the steepest on the island! Trust me!). Kept little 4-banger in Drive1 and pedal to the metal and got to the top. Met locked gates and no parking to be had. There is perhaps a small turn, VERY SMALL, turn-off from the road. No parking area to speak of. Too many people have had cars broken into here so we just chalked it up as a nice scenic drive. Turned around and went back down. Still had nice views but we didn't park and hike to the top. If you want to do that I'd suggest parking at Loterie Farm and trying from there.

The views from Pic Paradis are fantastic! There is a turn off that has a deck for viewing about halfway up the mountain. You can keep going all the way to the top but it has a pretty anticlimactic end when you encounter a chainlink fence that blocks the road (I think it is owned by the power company?). We literally used about 1/4 of a tank of gas to get up the steep road... and prayed that the brakes on our rental car didnt give out on the way down. If you have extra time it is worth the drive, but I wouldnt prioritize it as there is not much to do once you get up there.

The view from Paradise Peak is probably the best on the island. We spent quite awhile admiring the views and taking photos. The vegitation is beautiful and varied. The terrain is slightly rough but manageable. The only downside is the drive up to the peak.

Be careful going up, take a 4x4 and be vigilant when you park and walk around. The place is known for riff raff mugging tourists, so it's better to go with a large group. But the views are excellent!!! Don't go late in the afternoon as the sun will spoil your pictures.

We had read about the beautiful views, so we thought we would give it a shot. Our SUV made it up just fine but when you get to the top, there is a gate to a private residence. There is a small sign (probably posted by the thieves) that says 1 minute walk to the view. We walked up this very narrow path which was nerve racking due to what we have heard. We barely got to the lookout point, when we heard honking from where we parked. We rushed back to find the homeowner for the gated house at the top. We had blocked him from getting in his house. We moved the car and he pulled in his gate. He then walked back to tell us that we should probably leave due to he saw some men hiding in the woods as he pulled in the driveway and we will probably get robbed if we stick around. He told us this is a huge problem and the thieves wait in the woods for tourists to show up. He also said the government is going to install cameras in the area to try to catch these guys. After leaving there my wife looked in her purse to find that all of our money was already gone. However the rest of our stuff in the car was left alone. After talking to some transplants on the island, they said this is the most dangerous part of the island and tourists should not go there. We heard stories of people getting robbed at knifepoint and them stealing everything in your car along with the tires off your car. I think the guy who lives at the top saved us from a much greater loss than what we experienced. I would not recommend going here as it is so remote, anything could happen and nobody would ever know. Thanks to the man living at the top.
