And sadly, that's about it. We have been here a few times and this trip to St. Marten, perhaps this was the last time to Mario's Bistro. The cosmo was perfect. My husband had a glass of white wine and also the french onion soup. For entrees, my husband had the pecan crusted mahi which was good. I had the veal scallopini with tomato gnochi (odd combo) and the coating on the veal was mushy and the sauce separated before I was finished eating. Fortunately, the creme brulee was great. Overall it was okay but definitely not worth $120 US plus tip (tips are CASH ONLY).

Food is delicious however the wait can be lengthy. Waiters are gorgeous and very attentive. On a hot still night this restaurant can be stifling so be careful to dress appropriately ... nice wine selection.

This and La Villa were my two favorite restaurants on the island.

What can I say, everything was amazing and the portions were HUGE! Standouts were the bouillabaisse my husband ordered (amazing and unexpected, not your traditional French bouillabaisse. Better.), and the Thai crabcake app was out of this world and a meal in itself that was actually 4 different small apps on one plate...all delectable.

And the service was also impeccable! Our server was Jean and he was fantastic! Can't wait to go back!

They got everything right here. The food is delicious, the ambiance is fabulous, portions are very generous. You can't go wrong with Mario's Bistro, however it will put a dent in your wallet. We did appetizers, but if we went back we would just do entrees because it is much more food than one normally expects at a typical French restaurant. Wine list is really great. You must make a reservation if you want to sit on the waterfront, which I highly recommend.

I don't know where to begin raving about this restaurant.
This was our 7th time in SXM and our 1st trip to Mario's. After extensive research we decided to make this our meal to remember and it did not dissapoint!
The restuarant is located just over the Marigot bridge and many tables overlook the canal. Do yourself a favour and make a reservation for the late sitting at a water front table.

Service: the ALL french wait staff are a total treat! Their description of the specials will make your mouth water with anticipation. They are so accomodating and pleasant! They are truely there to serve you and it doesnt hurt that they are easy on the eyes.

Food: We have uploaded pictures because our description will not do it justice! This is by far the best meal that I have ever eaten. For appetizers we ordered Lobster taco, foie gras, spinach salad and the special- fresh mozzarella (breaded) with an atipasto platter. For mains we had lamb shank, pumpkin risotto with lobster and shrimp, Half duck with honey ginger glaze and lobster thermidore.

The restaurant has a great selection of wine and spirits-including four kinds of Grey Goose!
The dessert menu was also fabulous but we were too full to try much. We shared a Creme Brulee and it was amazing!

All of this does not come cheap but was worth every penny. The menu prices in the picture are in Euro's but you are looking at about $30-$40 US per Entree.
Everything from the cocktails at the bar to the pictures with the wait staff was absoltutely PERFECTION!
We will be back next year!
