On our first trip to St. Maarten my wife and I had planned 3 excursions; the Sea Trek, a trip to Pinel Island and a trip to Anguilla.
The Sea Trek is an underwater site seeing excursion located at Bobby's Marina in Philipsburg. We were able to make a reservation from our hotel's excursion person.
After a breif explanation of what to expect and some safety precautions they place a 75lb helmet on your shoulders, pump air into it and send you down a ladder 25 feet under water. As you decend, only two at a time and assisted by a diver, you are checked on about every 2 - 3 feet. Once under water and assembled a diver takes the group of about 10 people along a walkway to see some sites, schools of colorful fish and other sea creatures while the other group spend time sunning or snorkeling. There was always some there to ensure your safety. This was quite an experience and well worth the cost. At the end of the excursion you’re allowed to purchase a flash drive of pics the diver took of you and your group for a reasonable fee.
