This beach is quiet, with warmer water, lots of space for the kids to play and a simple but sufficient infrastructure for the amount of people at the beach.
We enjoyed the time spent there.

With lots of great beaches to choose from I wouldn't make a special trip for this one - but if you are staying in Philipsburg it's worth the walk (or $5 cab) to hang out here. It wasn't too crowded, the water was actually warmer than in the harbor, and there's a nice bar right there.

Taking a cruise, we arrived at St Martin with no agenda other than to go to a beach. We went to the information desk, but they did not want to give out too much information. I pressed them for which beaches were less crowded and allowed for good snorkeling and this one was finally recommended. It turned out to be very near the pier, around one point. The beach was spectacular. We rented chairs and umbrellas right near the beach-side bar. We snorkeled around and found that swimming along the point yielded the best sea life views. We actually swam (twice) to the end of the point where there was a floating tiki bar. We think the ship charged to take folks there. It would not have been worth the money, in our opinion. All in all, a great day at the beach!

This beach is near Philipsburg, separated from its larger partner (Great Bay) by a small peninsula. Unlike Great Bay which is directly accessible from the town and has numerous restaurants and hotels along its length, Little Bay is relatively less developed with only 2 hotels, Divi Little Bay and Belair Beach, on it. Your access to the beach is solely through those hotels. We stayed at the Divi and I am not sure what the policies are for non-guests. The Divi was the bigger of the 2 establishments. There were a lot of water activities available at the Divi as well as restaurants and a bar overlooking the beach.

The beach was pristine without washed-up trash or seaweed spoiling the sands. Clearly the hotel staff were making sure the beach stayed clean. The beach was never crowded when we visited but it was the low season at the time (June) but the relative seclusion would probably have contributed to this.

Jet skis, stand up paddle boards, snorkel gear, water skiing, banana boat rides, sailboat rides were all available for rent from the Divi Resort. There was a rock pile and breakwater that enclosed a portion of the water near the beach. This enclosed area of water acted as a wading pool for smaller children. The rocks were easy to swim to and turned out to be full of small reef fish including schools of Sargeant Majors (yellow-black stripes); there were hardly any corals but obviously there was enough growth for the fish to thrive. Hopefully they will continue to do so.

In the evenings we would watch the brightly-lit cruise ships as the headed out back into the Caribbean Sea from the cruise port in nearby Great Bay.

Great place to relax, quiet and peacefully. Restaurant and all facilities, even a bit of shopping. Theme nights at the restaurant, reasonably priced. Staff a bit slow but food is good, so worth the wait.
