We stayed at the Sea Palace from 5/17-5/24 2014. Designated parking would have been a great benefit since renting a car is the BEST way to get around the island. Just rent the car when you get to the airport. Go with who you know or like Avis,Budget or Hertz, we used Budget and it was a 90's toyota. the Staff is attentive, friendly, and efficeint. The Sea Palace is obiviously retro,It is also clean. Our room had an ocean view that was amazing, we were on the fifth floor. Joe knows what he is doing and really tries to make sure everything runs smoothly. They had brand new washers and dryers delivered the day we left, so strides are being made to update. I think it is best to rent a car, stay at the sea palace on front street, and visit the french side as often as you like since SXM is only 37 miles, that should be everyday, have a great time 721

I stayed here for a week and really enjoyed the location. It was near the end of Front Street, so it was quiet. Right on the beach, and the views out the balcony at night were stunning. Great Staff, very polite and accommodating. Room was nice and clean and I would definitely stay here again.

This was one of our worst experiences coming to SXM, the rooms are not as depicted in RCI catalog, musky smelling, view is of other hotels and streets, location is on the beach and boardwalk, accommodations are older, staff very disrespectful and wasn't the normal SXM friendly as accustomed too. Wouldn't recommend staying here....

Located on Front Street, at the edge of Philipsburg directly on the Great Bay, on the Dutch side of the island. Attractive newly painted 8-storey building. We stayed in 702A (top floor; floors are numbered in European system where ground floor is zero). It was a 1-Bedroom, 2-bath, with a loft, a well equipped full kitchen, and a spacious balcony overlooking the beach. Beach chairs and umbrellas are provided free. The unit was very comfortable for 2 couples. Both 702 and 602 are also sometimes available with an additional Bedroom/bath as 2-bedroom units, if the additional bedroom has not been reserved by someone else.
The hotel does not have parking facilities, but staff helped with unloading bags from our rental car in the tiny street. Every member of the staff was very friendly and helpful with minor issues and whatever questions we had. Lisett, Joe, Eddie and Hector were particularly helpful. Best shopping for food and beverages? (Grand Marche). Good restaurants in town? (Holland House and GreenHouse). The building is showing its age so the entire place is gradually being upgraded and modernized. During our stay (April 2014) construction noise was minimal and was no problem for us.
Sea Palace is located at the opposite end of the Great Bay from the cruise ship docks. We enjoyed watching the ships arrive, with passengers using water taxis to the town docks, one of which was adjacent to our beach. The ships usually left around 6pm and we enjoyed seeing them sail into the sunset.

Room Tip: Beachfront rooms have a great view and balcony.

I gave the Very Good rating based on the beach facility and being on the Boardwalk. If they do the renovations they have planned this will be a wonderful resort in St. Maarten. Currently, I will be truthful, the condos are dated. The furniture is very nice I think they have replaced the furnishings and put on a few coats of paint recently. However, the kitchen is really showing its age and the bathrooms? well,?? However, the beach is terrific and right outside the elevator door, no trudging across the resort. They have adequate umbrellas and chairs complimentary for the guests to use...a big plus, we loved it. The boardwalk is right there so you can stroll down and find all kinds of places to eat and shop. We were very fortunate in getting an oceanview unit. We never missed an evening of sitting on the balcony and watching the sunset and the ships leave port while sipping our favorite beverage! It was awesome! Sadly, not all units are oceanview. It would be nice if the resort would leave some furniture out for the non-view rooms to be able to sit on the beach and enjoy the evening. There is no parking for the property, but we never really had an issue finding a place on the street or as a back-up there are public lots which would have been a pretty good walk. (it wasn't high season though). I think I would return to the Sea Palace the location was hands-down great!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review! We completely agree the units (especially the bathrooms and kitchens) were outdated! We are so pleased that our new units have brand new, stainless steel, energy efficient appliances, marble counters, tiled floors, showers and more! They have new air conditioners, safes, microwaves and everything. We love our location on the water and are glad you were able to enjoy it as well! Please come back and see us again and take advantage of the same location with a brand new unit

This older hotel is quaint and clean. Room 601 A had an amazing view and the newly renovated huge balcony and view from it was AMAZING! My husband and I would get up every morning and have our coffee and watch the cruise ships come in. Our room was spacious nicely decorated and clean. That being said, it could use updating but I heard from a time share owner that it's in the works already. I would go back regardless because the location to shopping, dining and the beach was GREAT. On top of all this the staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. We will be back! Joe, Eddie and Lissette were great!

Thank you for your review! You did hear correctly that we are undergoing extensive renovations – our units have been torn down to the bare bones and completely rebuilt and they are stunning! We hope that you come back and see us again and enjoy the renovated rooms – and of course the balcony that you already got to enjoy! 

I don't even know where to start when it comes to the Sea Palace.

This year was our second stay at the Sea Palace. We are members of TAN, and this is one of their available properties.

If you are someone who is looking for a four star resort, or an all inclusive with tons of amenities, it isn't your place. If you want a clean, spacious room, with incredible staff, go with the sea palace.

We were booked into room 305, which is a city view room, after speaking with assistant manager Joe, we were able to be moved to room 304, a room with a partial bay view/ partial city view on the side of the building. The room was large, including a large living room with two pull out couches, separate bedroom, two full bathrooms, and full kitchen. A small note on two things. If you plan to use the pull out couch, stack both couches mattresses atop one another, much more comfortable. Secondly, the bathroom off the living room has a very very small shower. Just be aware of this. The balcony is narrow but long, and more than adequate.

For the location alone, you really can't beat sea palace. Right on great bay, a beach where lounger chairs are available daily, close proximity to bars, restaurants, and water activities. One street back from the boardwalk you have front street, which is a shoppers playground. Another street back you can catch the local busses for less than $2 to just about anywhere you want to go.

The staff at sea palace is exceptional. Joe and Eddie are two of the nicest people I've ever met. You are treated like family throughout your stay and they go to great lengths to ensure that everything meets your expectations. For example, our refrigerator quit working on the first night of our stay. We let Eddie know, and when we came back from dinner, there was a new refrigerator in its place complete with ice cubes being frozen in the freezer.

For those who may be concerned about safety, there is always someone at the front desk 24 hours a day. I would go running on the boardwalk/ front street every morning and I never once felt unsafe. In fact I felt like I got to know a few locals on my morning runs and everyone was very polite. there is also a security guard stationed at the pier on the boardwalk by sea place's beach area and a police station halfway down the boardwalk.

I plan to continue to return to the Sea Palace, and would highly recommend it to anyone who is considering traveling to St Maarten!
