“Major alert! Bed bug city! Stay away!”
Reviewed January 1, 2010

This hotel needs to be shut down because they have bed bugs and they are totally ignoring the situation. The board of health needs to be notified. This is a very serious situation that the hotel and diamond resorts is totally ignoring. We are so sorry that we ever got involved with Diamond resorts. This was our first stay and it is turning out to be a nightmare. My husband has at least 100 bites all over his body. Unfortunately we did not realize that they were bed bug bites until we got home. Do not go to this hotel.....If you made reservations to go there cancel your plans and go to another hotel. Do not trust them.

Just returned from a two week stay! Room overlooked the sea-large balcony. Rooms well equiped-bring wash detergent and bounce if you are using the washer and dryer. Two markets close, with surprising great prices. booze is cheap. Bar by pool is a rip-off. Phillisburg is excellent! We had an emergency and taken to the Marigot hospital on the French side-- well taken care of- Told that it is alot better then the hospital on the Dutch side- hopefully you don't have to experience that though. Orient Beach interesting to say the least. Mussels were excellent there. Plan on taking comfortable shoes, no straight walking, everything in up and down. Rented a car for two days for 25 dollars u.s. a day, which is all we needed. If planning the Rino excursion, make sure your lifejacket is on correctly. hard to get back into the dingy- be careful, they just drop you off into the sea. That's where my husband almost drowned! Beautiful island. Make sure you go to the bar at the airport and see the plane's come in--best video and pic yet-- what a great experience. Definitley would go back. Dec 25 poured all day. Saw many cruise ships coming into port for the day. The front desk staff are just miserable, don't pay the fee for waiting for a taxi at the front desk. Martial Gumbs-taxi #99 , who has a taxi in front is the best. Used him alot to and from the hospital. His number is [--] -- Taxi to the Flamingo from airport was ten dollars, and going to airport was 12 dollars. ENJOY!!! spa not good on top of building #4 -cold at 92 degrees.

We booked Dec 2nd - Dec 8th thru hotels.com including breakfast for $105 per night, great great deal, I did inquire thru hotels.com about the breakfast (because of my 2.5 year old)the information they provided me with wsan't true but that was okay, we arrived early to the resort and the room wasn't ready yet, we did receive everything for the hotel, towel cards and info etc...we were told to come back to check in (check in time is 4p.m. but we asked and our room was ready at 2 p.m.) front desk staff were great and very helpful..we did have a rental car and they showed us where to park etc..we entered our room and it was wonderful, the view as we entered the door wsa breathtaking, the room was very modern, very large and updated, and CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN, nice bedding, nice towels and all top notch....this resort was GREAT!!! We never had one complaint, the toilet was a little strange, a little high and a little loud but I am would never let that ruin a vacation..or even compalin about it...everything was clean clean clean.....that's what mattered....the kitchen is you planned on cooking was FAB...everything there to use and all new and clean....big refrigator, full size stove and micro and blender, toaster etc.etc.etc.etc.etc. dishwasher, papertowels, dishwashing liquid and powder, kitchen towels, etc.etc.
Beach was fantastic, calm, clean and well maintained, we never had a problem getting a hut but we did go there early and put our towels like 7:00 a.m...
Restaurant Toppers was great, the restaurant is located right on the beach close to the water, very casual and comfortable, the breakfast that was included was there, we were given voucher for 2 people, juice, coffie and an entree per person, my husband wsa eating snapper and eggs with potatoes and toast, steak and eggs with potatoes and toast and me omelettes and eggs specials etc, i am listing this because you could get anything from the menu and there were alot of choices....for my 2.5 year old she did get a pancake or an egg wth toast everyday no charge....
All in all St.Marrten is great, a car is needed to get around and fun to explore, def. go to the french side to the galion beach and orient...beautiful...
Last but not least the pool at the resort was nice, nothing fancy but not children friendly...we went once....clean but again nothing fancy....you won't be sorry to book this resort, we will look again next year and hope for a good rate again...
We stayed in room 7516...studio ocean view...

The Flamingo Beach Resort is the place to stay. Staff is polite and professional. Pool is beautiful as well as the beach. Rooms are spotless. All the essentials you need away from home. Free Wi-Fi in the lobby so take your computer with you. You must eat at Topper's Restaurant located on the grounds of The Flamingo. The grilled shrimp caesar salad, cheeseburger, and meat loaf. All the food is delicious. Another place to eat is Yvette's Restaurant located on the French Side in the French Quarter. Prices are EXCELLENT! Shrimp cocktail, stewed pork chops, stewed chicken, and conch with dumplings. Yummy! We ate there twice in one week. ANother place 5 minutes from the resort is Lido's great ribs and chicken from the grill. Enough for two people if you like left overs. If you are into fitness you should take the Aqua Aerobics class with Jay. You will get a great workout. Make sure you rent a car because taxi's are very expensive or you can catch the bus for $1.50. The best choice is a rental car. Try to visit Mullet Bay Beach or The Orient Beach. All of the beaches at St Maarten are beautiful. If you need to go to the grocery store make sure you go to Le Grande Marche on Bush Road not the one in Simpson Bay. The one on Bush Road is bigger and cheaper. The Peli Deli is near the resort which has a lot of things but expensive, so if you are in dire need then go if it's a must. Overall, you will have a wonderful vacation that you will never forget!!!! You must try Etna's ice cream made in St Maarten. I tell you the best ice cream ever smooth and creamy.

Stayed there for a week through the time share that we have. Maids only come once for a week stay, not sure if that's only because of the time share deal. First time to Saint Martin, was a little surprised on the condition of the island, a little run down and old. On the drive there I was like "omg I hope that's not it.." a couple of times after seeing some of the buildings. It is an older complex but was kept up good enough. The beach sand is rough there and the water is dark teal and not very clear. Internet is available only in the lobby and it's free if you have your laptop otherwise you have to rent their computers for a fee which maxes out at $40 for unlimted week access. Staff was all friendly especially at Toppers, the restaurant on property. Pretty strict on a couple of things like beach towels. You have to prearrange how many you want when you check in and they give a number of 'towel cards' for that amount. If you fail to return your towel you don't get your card back and they say they'll charge you $50 per towel. So of course you are paranoid about getting that damn towel back so you can get that card, and NOT losing that card for a week. Also a $5 fee for not returning the room keys to the front desk upon checkout. Oh, there is no room service and the restaurant closes at 10pm, but we did have a full studio and you'll pay a lot for groceries there. There is only 1 main road that loops around the entire island and driving is very stressful as well as parking, we did not rent a car but the cab fee's will add up as every trip averaged $15. A couple of close beaches you have to go to are Sunset beach and Mullet bay. The beach you cannot miss is on the North side of the island and is called Orient beach. Outstanding, crystal clear waters and white sand beach, do not miss this one.

My husband and i were looking forward to this trip. It was a celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. When booking we requested ocean front. I followed up with an email to again confirm an ocean front room, letting them know it was a special occasion. I got a lovely email back congratulating us and letting us know that an ocean front room was confirmed. When we arrived we were told there were no more ocean front rooms available and they gave us a room with a view of the side of the hill which at the top of the hill was the parking lot. It felt like a basement apartment in the getto. We went to the lobby to voice our complaint and remind them of our confirmed booking and request a room change. The front desk clerk told me we had to speak to the General manager. He kept us waiting for 45 mintues! And he knew we were in the lobby. When he finally agreed to speak with us he was rude, spoke over us, interupted us, kept demanding "respect" and told us that maybe we should go to another resort!!! FINALLY he agreed to try to move us to another room. Again, kept us waiting for anothre 15 mintues before he sent out the front desk clerk to tell us he moved us to a villa. No offer to help us move our luggage...we had to lug it ourselves. The villa was fine. No view, long walk to the beach, but at least it wasn't in the basement and we decided to make the best of it. Then we used the toilet. Which wouldn't flush. We called the front desk. They said no one was available until the next day. We waited the next morning until 10 am, still no one showed up to fix the toilet after a few calls to the front desk. Finally I'd had it and went down to the front desk. Again I was told to wait for the General Manager. I flipped and told them NO. He then came out of his office, flinging open the door in a state of anger, and told me that because he hadn't had an ocean fromt room for me that nothing would make me happy. I told him that a flushing toilet was the most basic of amenity and it was disgusting that we had now been waiting 16 hours for a flushing toilet. He then made a phone call and sent maintenance.

Was looking forward to a message in the spa. It was a small hut that looked like a made over maintenance shed. Sad.

Beach was nice. Lots of noisy airplanes!!!

I would never go back and I would never recommend the place. We ended up having a great time because of the friends we were there with and the island was lovely. Orient beach was breathtaking. We didn't let this spoil the trip. But stay away from this place. Surly is the only word that comes to mind when thinking of the General Manager. He was the worst and should be FIRED!!!

Beaches were very nice, people we met were awesome, hotel staff and 95 % of all workers on the island were very unpleasant, almost made you feel like they dreaded you being there. Dealers at casino's would not thank you for tips or try to talk to you. Very dirty island outside of resorts. This resort was nice and I would stay here again even with the down side of things we had a great time with the people we met. Villas were great. All food was good. Great prices on groceries.
