We (wife and I) had a studio room that included a mini kitchen(frig, stove, coffee maker, microwave, toaster and small sink), king bed, desk, sofa, tv and a beautiful bath (shower and hot tub). Don't do the all-inclusive package! Too many restaurants nearby to visit and have wonderful meals. You should rent a car from the airport (125.00 a week). We bought groceries for breakfast and lunch. Save your money for great dinners.
Downtown Philipsburg is only 1 mile from the resort. Take your car and visit the whole island, it's easy to drive around the island. Pick up a free book called "destination" at the airport when you board the plane or "discover" st. maarten on the island and do everything in the book. Don't sit around at the resort. Too many beaches to see and explore. Favorite restaurants: Chesterfields and Greenhouse in Philipsburg, Pineapple Pete, Lee's and Rancho's in Simpson Bay (only about 15 min car ride). Right beside the divi resort is the BelAir Resort. They have a small "shack" of a restaurant called the Gingerbread, but it's a great place. You eat right beside the ocean's edge. Just walk down to the other end of the beach at Gingerbread's and have a wonderful dinner. We ate dinner every night after 9:00pm to avoid any crowds and get a full day of beach time and play time. We ate dinner on the dutch side because the wait staff had better attitudes. The french restaurants were a little "stuffy" for our personalities. Best beaches: Orient Bay (20 minutes by car). You can spend a day at this beach. Rent chairs, umbrella and 2 drinks for 10.00 dollars. You can have a great lunch at several different outdoor grills on the beach. You can also see totally nude sun bather's at one end of the beach. Friar's Bay great beach with food. Also, at one end of Friar's Bay, you can walk a path (10 min. walk) thru the woods to Happy Bay. Make the effort to walk over, it's a beautiful beach, calm waters and not many people go to this beach. You might have the beach to yourself. Go to Maho Beach, it's right in front of the airport. The planes will fly about 30 feet over your head before they land on the runway. It's really cool to experience the landing and the take off's from these huge planes. Just pick up a map and drive the island to see many of the beaches. All the beaches are public. The roads aren't great and some beaches are at the end of a dirt road. So don't be surprised or scared about the roads. Best activities: Rhino Safari, you can drive your own little boat (it's like a wave runner) and you snorkel during the tour. All kinds of boat cruises...daytime and sunset cruises...find the one that is right for you. I'm a diver, so all the dives were great. Do the shark feeding experience. The shark dive is 60 feet and the feeder will hand feed the shark's for about 30 minutes as you watch from 5/10 feet away. It's a cool experience. The resort is great, the island is great and one week isn't enough time to take it all in. I can't wait to go back. I'll be glad to share my thoughts with you. Just respond to my post. I'll try to post pictures later. t

Many of my family members have timeshares at Divi Little Bay and this was my first time at Divi... and I can't wait to come back next year! The room was recently renovated and very nice, granite in the kitchen and baths, plus new everything! The resort grounds were perfect, great snorkeling, food and drinks on property. Got to love the guava berry colada and yummy rum punch! Went to carnival and had a blast, beautiful costumes and vibrant music. Be sure to check out Piaeapple Pete, Greenhouse, Antoine Restaurant, Zee Best, Captain Oliver's. Take the Calypso Lagoon Cruise from Pelican Marina to dinner at L'Auberge Gourmande. Be sure to experience the America's Cup Yacht Racing,12 Metre Challenge. And for shopping.... amazing selection of Jewelery and Watches on Front Street. I am counting the days till I go back to Divi next April 2010!

We picked this hotel with the guidance of other Tripadvisor people and we couldn't have been more pleased. While not a luxury hotel, we are not luxury people so that we convinced we found a great value. The hotel is situated on Little Bay, near Phillipsburg and for various reasons, that is a good thing. While the island itself is not big, it can take awhile to drive around so that if you are interested in shopping, for example, you are very close to Phillipsburg and close enough to the markets of Marigot. The hotel's beach is really pretty and somewhat secluded, but there were lounge chairs available for free and the water was crystalline. The sand was white and soft. And it was not too crowded. There is the opportunity to have your hair braided and some water sports, but they were not intrusive. We stayed in the hotel rooms, which were standard but the bed was extremely comfortable, but everything was clean. The water in the shower was hot, but I like that! The staff was very friendly, they felt like friends. There is a safe available in the room, no charge. I did not use the TV, so I can't comment on that. There is a tennis court, a really nice gym, and the entrance to the Dutch fort is right there, so that is a nice attraction. You can snorkel off the shore if you can swim a hundred yards or so off shore. There is a relaxing eternity pool. I didn't eat there, but an all inclusive option is available. There is a bar, very nice after a good dinner. You do need a car if you are here, but it might be possible to rent from Avis. I did see Avis cars in the parking lot. We had rented from the airport. They can help you book excursions, they were very helpful and honest with that. I would definitely stay here again.!!!

A car rental on St. Maarten is a must if you want to see the sights. Divi is in a good location to head in any direction. Philpsburg just across Great Bay, continue to Dawn and Orient beaches. In the other direction Maho and Grand Case.

The resort we found to be very clean and well cared for. Our one bedroom unit was beautiful and faced Great Bay. We could enjoy the breezes on our patio and watch the cruise ships come in. A short hike up the hill to the old fort gave beautiful views of Philpsburg and in the distance Saba.

The staff was VERY friendly and we never wanted for anything. We have read of complaints about the staff but never had one ourselves. Show respect and you will be treated with respect. Be an ugly American and get treated as such.

The beach was clean and well kept. Good snokling just offshore. (several tour boats stop here to snokle.) Plenty of beach chairs. Not much in the way of activities.

Loved the on site bakery, had to stop every morning for a muffin or pastry. The open-air cafe is also very good at reasonable prices. The main resturant not impressive.

Cocktail party every week and also another party on Thursday. Gifts and prizes drawn at each. Made several friends and ran into another couple who were in Aruba when we were there.

To sum it all up; Divi is a very nice, clean resort with great beach and views and a good location. We will be going back. (just made a reservation yesterday for March 2010)

We chose Divy because it was highly recommended by our travel agent. We had booked a beachfront room. When we got there, the room was dusty, smelled like mold and there were dead bugs in the bathroom. There was also rusty water coming out of the tub faucet. We were on the second floor, the rooms on the first floor were totally gutted. They were damaged from the hurricane in October. We asked to be moved, after a very long and difficult time with the manager, they did move us to a studio timeshare. It was not beachfront but very nice. Our complaint is, they never should have been using those rooms while construction was going on. At times while we were on the beach, we smelled gasoline fumes from the machines they were using for the new walkways. It was also very noisy from the workers sawing, hammering, and singing at the top of their lungs.
There was one main restaurant, we had breakfast there every morning, did not eat any dinners there. There was also a snack bar at the one pool by the beach. Very glad we did not do all inclusive.
The location is excellent and I guess this is why they are rated very highly. Very glad we had a car as you really need it to get around.
