As the title indicates the hotel is great looking, in a great location but lacked the WOW factor we needed. We were on our honeymoon. At first look I was excited however, that faded fast. The Calista Suites where we stayed were ecently upgraded with flat screen tv's, stainlees steel kitchen appliances, jacuzzi jet tub, modern furniture, etc... but the flat screen tv's lacked any movie cable channel. In addition every 30 mins. a message blog blocked the picture on the tv advising that the bill needed to be paid. The big screen in the masterbedroom locked on the 2nd night and couldn't find a channel signal. I called the front desk and 2 hours later staff comes and spends 30 mins. having to re-program each of their 12 channels (yes only 12 including news, cnn, weather, etc...) I think Direct TV sends blog box out automatically because other guest we spoke to had the same issue. The door to the pretty stainless steel frig literally fell off the hinge on the second day. too! We called maintenance and they took 45 mins. even after I advised them we had food that could go bad. The maintenance man left twice to get proper tools and my husband ended up advising him hoe to re-attach a door hinge! The pools looked nice online but appeared not to be clean with sand, foilage, etc... in it each day. I'm nearly a mermaid and refused to even stick my big toe in the pool water. Not having cable while on vacation is normally fine but since we were on our honeymoon, the pools were a bit dirty we stayed inside when not shopping in Phillipsburg. The beach on site is great but staff has to get you the umbrellas which they keep locked up. This can take upwards of 15 mins as staff have a VERY LAID BACK ISLAND ATTITUDE! I can appreciate that if the amenities on site picked up for their poor customer service but in this case it didn't. I would say for the price and location it's ok. The room was pretty nice as far as decor and they seemed to be remodeling a lot of the suites. The guest were mainly over 50 white couples from the US who were time share owners. Most didn't even speak and didn't seem to want to engage in general conversation. After shopping in Plillipsburg, going to the French side and spending another day walking around the resort and laying on the beach we moved to a hotel next to the airport. April is off season so the rates were very compareable. Although the new hotel Sonesta Maho was a lot older , the location, guest and atmosphere was more in tune to this 30 something African-American couple. The pool scene and bar were great and our new hotel was right next to great boutiques, Bliss nightclub and sunset cafe. I suggest if your young and want to have fun stay near the airport. Divi is ok for the price but lacked any sort of meaningful memories for us. If you stay there get an updated suite and make sure to stop by the grocery store and get a few groceries. We bought breakfast food, snacks for the beach, and plenty to drink which saved us money and was convenient. The bbq and lobster feast the resort offered was good but other than those two theme nights, it truly lacked much of a food choice. One night the resort only offers a prime rib buffet with the only meat selection as prime rib. I don't eat beef so I had soup. Again online the suite looked much like a pair of Manolo 3 inch heels. It was swank, sexy, sassy and stylish but in actuality it was a pair of neutralizer flats! Safe, comfortable, affordable and ok to deal with if you knew how to rock the rest of the outfit!. I opt for sex in the city MB's and swank hotels anyday! Tootles!

This is our fourth year coming to stay at the Divi Little Bay Beach Resort and each year we had a wonderful time. After an extensive renovation at the resort we stayed in one of the new beachfront one-bedroom suites. The room had two flat screen TV's, washer/dryer, dishwasher.....ect. Everything you needed and more and just steps away from the beach! The location is perfect, having its own sprawling beach and just a short ride to Philipsburg for shopping, fine restaurants, and more. The resort is huge and has multiple restaurants, convenience store, and spa (my fiancé highly recommends the manicure and pedicure spa treatment packages!!) It's nice to come back to this resort and see all the familiar faces and see that they recognize you too. We've gotten to know quite a few of the hotel staff and consider them friends and look forward to seeing them again. We'll be back for CARNIVALE next year!!!

I was a bit worried after reading some of the older reviews. But I was very happy once I arrived at the Divi. We had a beachfront hotel room that was absolutely wonderful. The property is gorgeous and it's proximity to Fort Amsterdam and Philipsburg is great. The hotel employees weren't the friendliest but they didn't seem any more unfriendly than any other places on the island. (I still don't know why they refer to St. Maarten as the friendly isle. I found that to be very untrue.) We got our room for about $130 a night, which I thought was very cheap. It was certainly worth the price except for one thing. One morning my boyfriend and I went out to breakfast. After paying for it, and returning to our room, we noticed that our room hadn't been cleaned yet but the maid's cart was outside next door. So we headed directly out front of our room to take a quick swim while the maid did her thing. When we came back about 20 MINUTES LATER, my cash was all gone out of my wallet. I know it was there a few minutes before b/c I paid for breakfast. It was in a zippered wallet, in a zippered purse hidden underneath some clothes and beach towels. It was also obvious that the maid didn't finish cleaning the room as she left dirty towels and didn't restock new ones. You may say that we should have used the safe. I would have if we were to be gone for any longer period of time or we left the room for something other than simply having the maid clean it! Anyway, management was very unhelpful and told us that they weren't liable. Which I can somewhat understand as we did have a small safe in the room. However, I would have been happier if the management assured us that it woulndn't happen again and the maid would be fired, which they never did. They were very dismissive of our problem. If this didn't happen, I would have easily given the Divi 5 stars. Unfortunately, we won't be going back to a place that we don't have any trust in.

We stayed at Divi Little Bay a few years back with some friends who own a timeshare here. It was simply wonderful. Friendly staff, nice rooms (older in the part where we stayed but lovely nonetheless) and just a beautiful resort in a spectacular setting.

We loved the island, both sides, and of course Orient Beach was a different experience! We also took the opportunity to visit Anguilla while in Sint Maarten and loved that island as well.

Do visit!!!

Just returned from the Divi in St Maarten on an RCI timeshare exchange. Had a great time, the studio was beach front on the 1st floor. Staff was very personable. Accomodations clean and updated. Grounds were being replanted and looked great. Restaurants were a little spendy, but so was the whole island. Most retailers are still taking US$ at 1:1 with the Euro. Had a fun and very relaxing week. Highly recommended. Thanks to those who gave us recommendations before we went.

We recently stayed at the Divi in Dutch St Maarten and were thrilled with the property. We are HGVC owners and exchanged through RCI for a week at the Divi.

Note- be sure to ask if you are booked for a renovated room. The difference is dramatic. Our first evening, we were scheduled for room 720. This is the last condo unit at the top of the hill near Ft Amsterdam. The views of the Great bay and Little Bay are breathtaking, but the walk is FAR. Especially when you have an 8 year old in tow that wants to go to the beach, the pools, gift shops, back to the room, etc...

After asking Angelique at the front desk for help, we were moved the following day into a STUNNING oceanfront room, #1024. According to staff, the room was remodeled less than a month prior. Beautiful full kitchen complete with everything that may be needed to prepare full meals. The sleeper sofa, where our 8 year old camped out, was extremely comfortable. Our unit was a 1 bedroom, but a very spacious room. The bedroom, which was a separate room away from the living area, connected to a semiprivate vanity area with a state of the art computerized spa bath. A pocket door separated the extraordinary shower, sink and toilet area. The shower was incredible...overhead shower, handheld and body jets with beautiful travertine tile throughout.

There was quite a bit of beach erosion last week due to offshore storms, but there is still ample beach space, unlike some of the other resorts. The waters were ideal for snorkeling, boogie boarding, kayaking. The kayaks and jetskis can be rented onsite, and the staff is wonderful. Again, many resorts suffered enormous beach erosion. If you are shopping for resorts, make sure to ask the condition of their beach!

For families concerned about nudity on St Maarten beaches...only twice, that we saw, did women go topless during our week long stay, and the staff was quick to remind them that this was a FAMILY resort and that clothing optional beaches were available off site, throughout the island.

WiFi is available near the cafe or in the owner's lounge for nominal charges. Speaking of the cafe, make it a point to be there at 8am for the daily pastry delivery. They go fast!

There are tennis courts on site. There are multiple pools available.

A mini market is on site and had every basic that you may need. The owners were fantastic and lovely to visit each morning when I bought my newspaper.

The is other shopping available on site as well. Clothing, jewelry, alcohol, cigars, etc...

The beach is a "tour stop" for the cruise ship visitors, so the beaches get a bit crowded each day from around 9-1. The visitors are encouraged to stay in a central location, though.

Keep your golf clubs at home. The Mullet Bay course is pitiful. The resort was destroyed a decade ago and the course doesn't appear to have any more water applied than the daily shower that blows through. Ferries are available to take you over to Anguilla. Die hard golfers won't balk at the $300 round.

  • Liked — beautiful beach, activities for everyone, all basic needs met on site
  • Disliked — struggle to find something...8 year old disappointed in TV channel choices (no Nick, Toon, Disney)

My husband and I honeymooned in St. Maarten and had the pure pleasure of staying at Divi Little Bay in April of 2007. We extend a special thanks to our dear friend, Parker, who made it all possible.

From the moment we landed on the resort, our smiles began. It is just gorgeous. We were greeted with a very warm welcome at the front desk and the staff was consistently friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay. A wonderful local woman informed us of the resort activities and services. She continued to be a great source for us, always putting us in touch with the right contacts, making our adventure that much easier. Her warmness made us feel quite special - in fact, everyone we encountered seemed to pamper us.

Our suite - simply amazing. We had an ocean view with 2 private balconies. Our room was incredibly spacious with a huge bath that included a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. In the living area, there was another large bath w/shower, a fully equipped kitchen and a large dining/living area w/sleeper sofa. We were so excited about our amenities and being on our honeymoon in wonderful St. Maarten that we hopped in the Jacuzzi and had our own little party complete w/beer & snacks!!

Our balcony views were gorgeous. We enjoyed the bedroom balcony each morning - we would make a nice breakfast and bask in the sounds of the ocean and people playing in the pool and sea. We enjoyed having a glass of wine in the evenings on our living room balcony and hearing the waves crash below.

Other room features: the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, a safe in the room allowed us to leave behind valuables, and a TV in the room was perfect when we wanted to lounge around in our King sized bed after a day of activities.

The resort had a delicious cafe with internet service, a grocery store, fitness center, several shops, an activity center, a spa (couples massage "by the sea" is a must), and 3 unique pools.

We thoroughly enjoyed the resort parties - I actually won the limbo contest and my husband won the sexy legs contest and we received 2 nice bottles of wine! We also loved ending our evening at Gizmos - the bar with the infamous parrot.

Lastly, the location was perfect - within walking distance to Phillipsburg. We simply could not have chosen a better resort.

My husband and I would like to visit St. Maarten again - mostly for another fabulous experience at Divi Little Bay!

  • Liked — Our suite, the main pool w/bar, the spa, the ocean view & beachfront, the service, the resort activities and the activity center for off-site plans.
  • Disliked — That we couldn't stay longer!
