I was pleased with the service at the hotel, but not at the restaurant.
There is nothing great about the rooms or the hotel building itself.....a makeover would actually do wonders for the rooms and the lobby area.
The most impressive thing about Belair Beach is its location being right on the beach in Little Bay. It is not a modern hotel, but it has air conditioning, a small kitchen and a pool.
I liked the fact that it is close to Philipsburg and Simpson Bay, where there are tons of great restaurants and other fun activities.
I did not like the very small ants in the kitchen.

The resort is dated which seems in keeping with most of the island. Our a/c didn't work properly and was never repaired. Rufus and crew at the bar/restaurant are great. Food was OK. Best food was at Antoine's in Philipsburg - really outstanding.
Pool is small but OK. The beach is tough entry but the water is fantastic.
A rental car is a necessity due to lack of public transport. Parking is free.
Unit amenities are OK. No dishwasher. 2nd BR pretty small but didn't affect us as we were only two. Location on Little Bay is picturesque and all units have ocean view.
On site tour agent is great. We booked everything through her and service was superb.

First off this was the first visit to St Maarten for my wife and I and we loved it. The Belair Beech hotel is really nice due to several factors. Firstly the Hotel is located outside of Philipsburg which is within walking distance but not too close to be swamped by cruise ship patrons like some downtown places. The hotel features apartment style rooms with two bedrooms, two baths and a full kitchen(minus an oven). The ground floor units (one we had) was best because you could walk out on your patio and be in the ocean in about 20 steps. The views of little bay from our room were great. The hotel staff was helpful and took care of all of our needs.

The main gate/entrance to the hotel has a 24 hr guard to keep unwanted persons out and there is a guard who walks around at night. I didn't really see a need for a guard because I felt safe pretty much everywhere we went.

A lot of reviews complain about the cats over running the property. If you hate cats then leave them alone. The cats live on the property and really don't bother you unless you feed them.

The rooms are spacious and updated not too long ago. The room was very clean and in good order. The hotel offers wifi at a cost of $35 a wk which is a little slow but good enough to check facebook or emails... Next door is the Divi resort which is much nicer, although the oceanfront rooms are not sweets and just plain hotel rooms. If you rent a suit or timeshare unit they are behind the property with somewhat of a view of Phillipsburg harbor. There is a pretty nice bar over at the Divi which you can walk to from the Belair. Make sure to say hi to Leroy the bartender who usually works nights.

The Belair has a restaurant and bar which is pretty nice. Every monday is the managers party where they put out a cheese and cracker type spread and offer free wine for an hour. After there is a BBQ dinner served that is all you can eat for $20 a person. They also have live music usually a local DJ who sometimes has a tin pan player with him.

The beach at the Belair is really nice and every room has assigned beach chairs and umbrella's. Usually the ocean at the beach is very calm and like swimming in a pool. When we were there the remnant of some tropical storms blew through and caused some rough seas. We opted for the pool on those rough days which was pretty clean but very warm. The pool is not very big but big enough for a few people to relax in.

If you are looking for a five star brand new hotel then this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a relaxing place that is convenient and reasonable then this is your place. We saved a bunch of money by shopping at the local supermarket and eating breakfast and lunch in the rooms. This helped out because there are a lot of great restaurants on the Dutch Side that you must visit!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite for 1 week. The views are unbelievable the beach is stunning, crystal clear waters fine white sand and you get beach chairs/loungers assigned for the week! The staff could not have been more helpful.. when we went to leave we had asked to store our bags whilst we went to the beach. We came back expecting to change in the bathrooms and were told to go to the 5th floor where there was a room we could shower in.... they sent us to the Penthouse for us to get cleaned up.. best of all we didnt even have to ask.
Gingerbread (the restaurant) was great, food was delicious and the ambiance great.
This is a quiet resort that makes you feel right at home. I would love to go back someday

Stayed at the Belair for five days in the end of July and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. The highlight of the Belair is its location, the beach and the magnificent view from the room. Each unit has a twenty five foot wide verandah with sliding doors that open the full length of the porch. The units are just feet from the beach and the view of Little Bay is beautiful. Waking up every morning and seeing the turquoise water takes your breath away.
The unit was nice and was very clean. The food at the restaurant was very good and the staff was very friendly. Snorkeling at Divi next door was phenomenal. Leroy accompanied us and was a great guide.
If you are only happy with Four Seasons amenities, the Belair is not for you. If you are looking for a comfortable, nice place to stay with friendly staff while enjoying the beautiful surroundings, then you would not be disappointed at the Belair.
