This was our first visit to St. Maarten and we were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Pretty much all the previous reviews are correct - it is an older resort and while the public areas are a bit tired, the rooms are in very good condition and you cannot beat the view onto the beach. The kitchen was well stocked, and even with only 2 burners and a heavy duty toaster oven, we ate all dinners and breakfasts in our unit. The master is pretty big, and as noted, the 2nd bedroom is small. However, the bathrooms were pretty decent and large - the 2nd bathroom had a nice, new walk in shower! One elevator was broken, but we were on the 3rd floor and only used it twice - to bring in our luggage and then leave with our luggage. However, if you rely on an elevator, I would request a ground floor room. The beach was beautiful and it's true that they assign you chairs for the whole week - which was great, although somehow our umbrella was removed several times - but we just asked for another one, no problem. St. Maarten has so much to do! Suggested activities are snorkeling trip, America's cup sailing race, walking around Marigot, eating in Grand Case, Orient Bay Beach......In my opinion, the shopping was much ado about nothing - it's all expensive, even though it's duty free. But the liquor was cheap! Fantastic supermarket only 5 minutes away, Grand Marche - they had everything you could imagine. Great vacation!
