“Shop till you drop”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

The most store for shopping anywhere. You must bargain to get the best buys. A large variety of stores for clothing, jewelry, linens, liquor and souvenirs.

“Strange atmosphere”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

It is difficult to park in the little streets so leave your car on thefree car park near the carnival building with no tarmack. Philipsburg is a little like Key West in architecture but with no atmosphere. The "boardwalk" has no boards, just concrete, but it is a nice pedestrian alley with a concentration of bars and cafés. Front Street in parallel just behind, the main shopping street, for diamonds, handbags and duty free everything with the most expensive brands. For cigarettes you can negotiate the price if you buy a lot. I got down to US$1.60. Stock up because they are US$15.25 in Manhattan! Buy in dollars, it's cheaper than euros.
The strange thing is that you got from ultra-chic to practically bidon-ville/ slums in just a couple of metres. There are some nice little shops if you take the little streets and alleys. I got LG polarised sunglasses for just US$15.
This is the main centre for cruise ships outside of Miami. Nice little restaurants boat-side.

“Very fun”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

Frontstreet is far more enjoyable when cruise ships are in because there are lots of people to absorb the barage of locals attempting to get you into their store. The people watching is a blast. We are not big shoppers, so take that into account.

“The usual Tourist souveniers”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

Very narrow street and can be exceptionally crowded if many cruise ships are in port. Lots of jewelry and t-shirt stores line this street. There are a few historical buildings in between the retail stores. Restaurants are also available. In my opinion just a tourist area unless you take an island tour and this is included.

Linens, tourist wares, diamonds and watches all available. Nighttime it is totally quiet except for a few restaurants.
