We have stopped in a couple of times. I love history so it was very interesting to see how the island evolved over time. It is on a little side street in Phillipsburg and we usually duck down that street to get some shade and buy some trinkets so we like to stop in and look around. They're always looking for a little $ for a donation and I'm always in on helping out not-for-profits.

Nice staff and very informational about the island. Not very big and only 1 floor (the upper) but worth the $5 entrance fee. Spent almost an hour enjoying the exhabitls.

I went to see the museum the second time in about 10 years, and enjoyed refreshing my knowledge in a wide variety of topics: geology, history, climate, politics, expanding business vs. preserving ancient artifacts, etc. If you take your time and comb through the slightly amateurish exhibits, I guarantee that you will walk away with some new and fun information. Enjoy! It's truly fun and a great way to break up the beach fun or duty free shopping in Philipsburg.

The museum part is pretty good but what I liked was the little shop where you can buy prints and crafts from local people for reasonable prices.
