My husband and I ate here on our trip to St. Lucia and were pleasantly surprised to find it open and the owner invited us in. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious. I had the creole chicken which was a perfect portion. We both enjoyed the amuse bouche that was served right before our meal. It was totally unexpected and welcome. We also enjoyed the complimentary beverage before the meal. It was quite refreshing. I would recommend to anyone visiting Soufriere.

orlando was the chef at ladera - unquestionably the best dining experience around soufferie.

This restaurant is quite small, can be hot, and you will either love the menu/food experience or not.

Limited menu options - he cooks what he wants to prepare for the night and you select the number of courses you want etc. Each course is essentially a half portion of a real entree.

It's ok. the price averages about $50 US pp. Probably great for many people. For us - we thought for the money and reputation the total experience might have been just a notch better.

Not bad at all but found Dasheene at Ladera and Mango Tree to be much better

We walked to Orlando's from our hotel on the edge of Soufriere, and we were pleasantly surprised by the personal touches, the attention to detail and the quality of the food. While the portions were a little small and the prices were a bit high, we were happy to be left wanting more of the tasty creations that Orlando presented.

The bar and restaurant is small, so make some reservations as you don't want to miss this unique experience. Orlando came out from the kitchen and greeted us as we sat down amongst the trees, fountains, carvings, artwork and the chorus of invisible frogs nearby. We were surprised with apertif drinks and and a sashimi appetizer too. The jazz music in the background was nice touch, and then Orlando explained that in commemoration of Martin Luther King Day, he would also be playing King's "Dream" speech during the evening, which was thoughtful and played quiet enough not to be too interruptive. Half-way through the evening, he also had one of his staff read a short poem written by the famous St Lucian Nobel Laureate Derick Walcott.
A meal I will always remember.

If you are looking for a huge meal or you are on a budget, then other places would better suit your needs. But if you have an artistic temperment and/or a discerning palette, this is THE place to eat and grab a drink in Soufriere!

I ate here while vacationing in St. Lucia. Very disappointed with how expensive the meal was for the quality. The food was OK, but not for $55 US. The dessert was actually bad, in my opinion. I am surprised this place has so many good reviews. I enjoyed my meal at the Hummingbird hotel more for about the same price.

We loved our meal here. The food was delicious and the service was attentive. There were several "surprise" courses in addition to our $35 (two course ) or $45 (three course) fixed prix dinner. We love to eat out and are usually disappointed by the food in the Caribbean but this is definitely an exception to the rule...it would do well in Philly or NY, so it is quite a find in tiny and kind of run down Soufriere. There's a good reason it's #1 on Trip Advisor!
