The Diamond Botanical Gardens and Falls is a great activity. The walk is easy, although there are some small ground roots so you probably would not want to push a stroller or wheelchair. You can do a self-guided tour, but we found it worth it to spend just a little and have a (very knowledgeable) tour guide. Martin pointed out many of the exotic plants, including vanilla which actually coils up around the trunks of many of the trees. He opened a vanilla pod, as well as a cocoa pod for us. The waterfall is not enormous, but it is very pretty and a great backdrop for a photo (another good reason to have a guide, he/she will double as photographer!). Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious Caribbean luncheon at the Old Mill Restaurant. Like other places in St. Lucia, the hot chocolate at the Old Mill is incredibly thick and rich - they call it "cocoa tea" and make it with milk, a cocoa stick and as assortment of spices including bay leaf, nutmeg, cinnamon and anise. So delicious...

We took a taxi from our resort to the garden and waiting at the gate was a guide named Alexander the Great. He was worth the price of admission alone! Our tickets were $6 US each. Alexander was very interesting. He is also famous or possibly even notorious for having climbed both pitons in the same day. He also had other names such as "The Walking Internet" and as a man who "knows everything about everything" and it was evident that they all may have been right. He was a great guide. He told us about so many of the plant species in the garden and also educated us about their origins and their common uses. We definitely felt like we got more of a tour than we expected. He led us past the mineral baths and onto the waterfall. Diamond Falls was nothing too spectacular but it was still nice and a jewel in the jungle. The return trip through the garden was just as interesting and informative as the first half. He showed us the old French baths. Thanks to Alexander the Great, we were able to be enjoy the garden more than we would have and we were entertained at the same time. It is a very easy tour to walk with mostly flat ground but it is mostly unpaved so people with mobility problems may have issues.

Our tour guide was awesome - she took her time & explained the history of the gardens and each plant, tree, etc. We enjoyed the waterfall area but found the mineral springs area boring and not really what we thought it would be. They were set up as a small concrete pool so I would skip this part since you pay extra to use them. The gardens are definitely worth the time- took us about an hour to see everything

The botanical gardens was part of an all day tour that we did on the island, and we really enjoyed visiting. It was neat to see all of the plants native to the area. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and provided lots of interesting information. There is also a waterfall and some mineral pools.

Taking the groomed trails through the astounding rainforest greenery to the waterfall is a walk to remember always.
