Description: Perched high up between the Piton mountains, The Boucan Restaraunt is open to both residents and non residents. Boucan is The Hotel Chocolat’s own restaurant, where guests can experience Cacao Cuisine. The word “Boucan” refers to the traditional West Indian name for a cocoa drying facility. The restaurant is built on the site of the Rabot Estate’s original Boucan. Boucan is also linked to “boucaneer” or “buccaneer,” the local pirates that would smoke and dry their food to preserve it for long trips at sea. The Boucan offers a strong connection with cacao and chocolate. For over 3,000 years, cacao has been used as a savory ingredient and for 500 as a sweet ingredient. The menu explores both, with the chefs taking their inspiration from the fresh cacao growing all around the estate, together with amazing local fish and seafood, salad leaves, vegetables and plentiful fruit. However the cuisine is far from cocoa heavy. The menu often makes use of cacao as a light, subtle spice or as an infusion. The desserts make full and imaginative use of the estate cacao, with each evening meal rounded off with the day’s new chocolate creation. Boucan’s breathtaking minimalist design includes a soaring roof inspired by the shape of the cacao tree, with its branches reaching to the sky, and shaded by the lush rainforest canopy. Its high platform is a centre stage for the Big Nature views all around.Dining at the Hotel Chocolat's Boucan Restaurant, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or the fabulous sundowner cocktails, is an experience to be shared and cherished. We passionately believe we are certainly offering something very different at Boucan. The dress code is smart/casual and ladies a cocktail dress is never out of place!

We arrived a little early for our reservation and had just enjoyed walking down the dimly lit drive from across the street at Ladera Resort. Since we had some time to kill, we had some drinks at the nicely decorated, but simple, bar area. The whole concept was neat and trendy and we completely felt relaxed as we enjoyed the drinks our bartender recommended for us. I loved the star fruit garnish on the rim of my glass.
We were looking forward to this restaurant and how they use cacao in every dish. Since we were in St. Lucia celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary, the staff had decorated our table with a beautiful assortment of various flower petals. What a nice touch.
The bread with various butter and oils was a great way to start our meal. Everything seemed to be presented in a unique way. For example, my fillet of pork was served on what appeared to be a dark piece of slate or possibly marble. Extra nice display and the pork and mint paired extremely well together! Also, my wife really enjoyed her tasty Boucaneer's Bouillon with fresh seafood. We shared the Cacao sampler for dessert. It was a neat way to see and sample the different tastes of chocolate...some quite bitter!
We had such a wonderful visit and all I can since is that Boucan is an incredibly neat and trendy place that also serves outstanding food! Highly recommended!!!

This is special occasion dining at its best, especially if you are a chocolate lover. The theme is cocoa all the way and produces some deliciously rich (but not obviously chocolatey) savoury dishes. The service is superb, attentive and careful, making for a really special evening out. The nice touches such as bread and oils and glass of pumpkin soup were well received and all against the most beautiful Pitons backdrop. I would recommend arriving before dark to appreciate the view whilst sipping a glorious cocoa based cocktail. This was the most pricey meal of our holiday but the most memorable.

We ate here twice during our recent vacation while staying at Sugar Beach. We thought the food quality and service were far better than what was offered at our hotel. Loved the chocolate theme and found that it wasn't too overbearing in any of the dishes. My favorite was the balsamic/chocolate sauce for bread dipping. I couldn't stop thinking about it after the first visit that we had to return!

My husband ordered the steak both times and I had the ravioli. Both dishes were delicious. The ravioli is VERY spicy so be warned if you don't like spicy food. Of course, the desserts were amazing. My husband had the different sorbets (coconut and cacao) and I had the chocolate tart on the first visit and the molten chocolate cake the second.

Service was very pleasant and attentive! We 100% recommend Boucan for dining on the island!

Very glad you found us, up the hill. Our complementary balsamic chocolate dip has proven a bit of a hit – I think it is the sweet-sour balance with the Rabot Estate cocoa depth. Thanks for a lovely review and do look us up in our chocolate boutique on Newbury St, Boston.

The food was simply as good if not better than the best restaurants we have eaten in the Caribbean. Their duck in bitter orange sauce on a white chocolate mashed potato is delicious, ate it 3 times in my 14 day holiday.

We use cocoa butter to make the confit of duck, a favourite dish for us all too. Very kind words, which are hugely appreciated and encouraging for us.
