As it was the first time we had been on a cruise I decided to research the island for excursions to go on without having to book the expensive trips on offer from the cruise company. After researching on Trip advisor to find places to go and finding Johns Paradise tours and reading the reviews we thought we were on to a winner. John was great from the moment I contacted him - putting our minds at rest with regards to timings and the logistics of the trip. Most importantly John and Simian were fantastic on the day (Simians laugh is infectious). The tour ended up being just 4 of us (My parents, husband and me) which was great as we had a brilliant personal experience. Simian and John took us to the banana plantations where we not only tried bananas but the flesh of the coconut (known on the island to be good for men's fertility! - Although there seemed to be a lot of talking about that - no TVs obviously!!) . As said in another review John advised us that we didn't have to buy from the local markets and the people were so lovely they didn't pressure you - they just want to try and earn a few pounds so if you don't want to buy just go past and say no. We then went to the Tet Paul trail and gardens (a very short walk but you do need suitable footwear). This is amazing and you have the most fantastic views of the pitons at the top of the trail (I believe the best on the island). Tet Paul is a community project and has been entirely built and is maintained by the local village and actually John is more commonly known as Tet Paul as he helped found it. The people there are extremely knowledgeable and we were offered a lovely refreshing drink and fresh fruit salad (not your normal apples and pears - this was yum). Also for those worried about toilet stops - no need to worry there are suitable facilities here and everywhere we seemed to stop. We then went to the botanical gardens and the waterfalls - so beautiful it is definitely worth the trip and again Johns knowledge of St Lucian life, history and nature was fantastic - a very dynamic and enthusiastic person!. We then travelled onto Soufriere where John took us to a local restaurant for lunch. We opted for the local cuisine and it was honestly wonderful. You are sitting there enjoying a meal together in a colourful wooden hut type building which was really clean and looking out onto the seafront through erm ... open openings I suppose as they didn't have windows - but wow what an experience. We then went down to the beach and had a little paddle and swim - the sea was so blue! Anyway I have no doubts about recommending John and Paradise Excursions - if I was to go back I'd ask John to meet us again and ask him to take us to different places - I would say he could accommodate anybody and would certainly try. He is extremely accommodating. It cost us 50$ each (including the lunch and food/drink) but if there had been more people then this gets reduced (Personally I likes the personal touch!). You need to take a drink with you but you can buy them if you want. Hope this helps.

St Lucia was a part of our cruise, John picked us up from the ship in the morning and we spent a fantastic day with him . He took us ( two couples) through the best attractions of the island . We saw Diamond Botanical Gardens, Soufriere, Tet Paul Trails, sulphur springs and others.
He was very friendly, telling us a lot about the island and their inhabitants. It was a lovely day and the memory of the island will stay with us for ever .

We did the Gros Piton hike with John, and he is a great tour guide and very knowledgable on everything we had questions on throughout the entire day. He and his brother picked us up at our resort in the morning, and on the way to the hike, John gave us a tour the entire way and also stopped and picked us up some fresh bananas that were perfect for a snack during the hike. We stopped during the drive to enjoy some of the great scenic views and more detailed information for what we were seeing. His brother dropped us off at the start of the trail in Fond Gens Libre, and we set off on the hike. John was great about keeping a great pace and not turning the hike into a race. During the entire hike he would point and explain out different birds and vegetation. We took a short break at the top and enjoyed the amazing views (they make the entire hike worth it) and then set off back down the mountain. We finished the hike in just under four hours and then headed off to lunch in Soufriere and a local restaurant that really hit the spot. He gave us the option of going to the volcano and sulphur springs, waterfall or botanical gardens, but we were too worn out to do another part of the tour, so we headed back to the resort. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend John to everyone from seasoned hikers to those looking for a nice stroll. He has multiple tours other than the hike, and I am sure that all of them are just as great as the hike. It is definitely worth taking a look outside of the excursions provided by the hotel because we had a very in depth and personal tour, and John was am amazing tour guide.

Had a great tour with John on our excursion on St Lucia. Can't find enough nice things to say about the island and the tour we had. We made many stops and were able to shop at an authentic St Lucian market, sample fresh hot baked bread, visit a banana plantation, a local restaurant, did the volcano mud bath, made plenty of stops for scenic overviews, and stopped a a couple small villages. We also got to tour the amazing beautiful Tet Paul Nature Trail, which John helped found himself! No better views on the island of the Pitons! What made the tour special was how personal the tour was. It wasn't just "oh here is another village" we really found out about St Lucian life, the people, and their charm. We went on several island tours on our cruise and this was by far the best one. There are many vendors trying to make a living and John made it very clear we didn't have to purchase anything we didn't want to. He happily took many pictures and was flexible about what we could see and do. This is a must do tour!!

We recently stopped in St Lucia on a cruise. Instead of booking an over crowded, over priced cruise ship excursion, we decided to go with Paradise Excursions and tour ST Lucia with John. The reviews through trip advisor just don't lie, it is the best way to see the island and John really made a unique experience. It was just my 65 year old mom, 15 year old daughter and I on the tour, so we got a private tour guide experience. John picked us up and we headed off for the day. We stopped at different fruit stands and got to try a variety of the islands naturally grown fruits like bananas, coconuts, coconut water, and home made spiced rum (very much like moonshine). Also, John stopped at a local bakery where he bought us some fresh baked bread that was delicous! Then, we arrived at Tet Paul and hiked and climbed the stairway to heaven to see the amazing views of the peaks. We got to learn a lot about the foliage and vegetation on the island along the way. The views were absolutely breathtaking! After the hike we headed to the mud bath which was really awesome! The hot spring water was very hot, almost scalding, but once you take the plunge the stinging feeling goes away. After scrubbing the exfoliating mud all over my body and washing it off in the black water hot spring, my skin felt very soft and cleansed as if I just left the spa. It was well worth the experience!! After the hot spring mud bath we headed to lunch at this authentic creole restaurant. The food was pretty good...we had fresh caught Tuna, rice & pigeon peas, breadfruit and some other root that tasted like potatoes. Then it was time to head back to the ship. John with Paradise Excursions catered to our every need and made our day in St Lucia very special and memorable. I will book a tour with him again if I ever make it back to St Lucia. There is so much to see and do!
