We stayed at Sugar Beach and only visited Hotel Chocolat to do the tours which were fabulous. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining and took time to answer all of our questions. I don't understand why they don't advertise the Tree to Bean tour targeting newlyweds. As part of the tour you graft a tree which is registered with your name and the date, the tree is later planted on the plantation and you can go back and visit it next time you're in St Lucia. We also did the Bean to Bar tour which was fun if you're into chocolate :) I'd thoroughly recommend this experience - it's something a little different.

It's a unique experience, that's true, all about our efforts to connect the world of cocoa agriculture with the world of chocolate luxury!

The food, accommodation and views are wonderful, but it's the people that make or break a holiday and Hotel Chocolat has a wonderful bunch of people who seem determined to make a positive effect on your experience without getting in the way.

We were met at the airport, on time and were provided with refreshing towels and chilled drinks for the journey, and were checked in and made to feel very welcome whilst our bags were delivered to our room.

Anything that we arranged was done efficiently, transport was on time and the drivers careful and courteous, and enthusiastic about their island and the hotel.

Hotel Chocolat isn't a cheap holiday but we felt that the price of everything was fair, and appeared competitive with the other establishments that we visited. Overall we enjoyed our stay, we will go back but will ensure we avoid the rainy season next time.

Stayed here for our last two nights of our stay on St Lucia, wished it was longer. On arrival we were upgraded to a Luxe Lodge, the room was superb and the view of the Pitons was great. The bathroom was nice and big and the Rainforest shower was out of this world define telly showered longer than I normally would have. The bed was comfortable the mosquito netting worked well no bites while we were in bed.

Staff were really nice friendly and informative as was our experience on the tree to bar experience with Cuthbert who is so knowledgeable about the estate and cocoa we loved this and the Bar of chocolate we made after.

The infusion of chocolate into food does sound a bit strange but when you taste it is so nice a little bit of heaven in your mouth I had Duck with Orange and Chocolat sauce on the first night it was the best I have ever tasted the afters were to die for, ask my wife she knows. Great food.

The Infinity pool downstairs was very nice had a couple of swims in there but a bit small but nice.
I have to mention Judy here Brother and her Mum who were so nice to us the day we arrived.

We will be visiting again but for a longer stay next time two days was not enough time.

Room Tip: Choose a luxe Lodge the views are magnificent.

We ate twice during our honeymoon here. The food was delicious, all made with cocoa and somehow it all works from the cocoa butter to the cocoa flavoured main dishes. Interesting concept and definitely worth a trip.

The concept is indeed original and we have had such fun creating and evolving it. Man and cocoa have known each other for 3000 years, but it was only in the last 500 that the relationship was only sweet. We have turned the clock back to reinvent cocoa as a savoury ingredient with a contemporary light touch. Glad you enjoyed and thanks for the support.

We chose Hotel Chocolat based on the prior reviews and were not disappointed! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave after 5 beautiful days there! Whilst there, my fiancé proposed to me and the staff at Hotel Chocolat went the extra mile to help him prepare everything. Judy, the director, even upgraded us to the Luxe Lodge for the 2 nights after we got engaged. We are truly grateful for all that they did to make our stay memorable!

Hotel:
The hotel is set in a cocoa plantation, away from the beach and higher up on the hill. This meant that we got a great view of Petit Piton in the day and a very cool breeze at night. We felt extremely welcomed from the moment we arrived and got a great feel of St Lucian hospitality from everyone at the hotel.

Staff:
The directors, Judy and her husband, were extremely professional and went out of their way to accomodate our requests. The staff were all so friendly and genuine, and made us feel right at home in Hotel Chocolat! They were attentive but not intrusive, and always ready to help with a smile. When we were there, the hotel was not at full occupancy and we were able to get to know some of the staff better. Through our conversations, they were really open to sharing about their lives and wanted to learn more about ours as well. However, at times when we wanted more privacy, the staff knew to give us more space.

Room:
We stayed in both the regular Lodge and the Luxe Lodge, for 2 nights each. Both rooms were great, with the Luxe Lodge being larger and newer. As has been mentioned in previous reviews, the wifi signal is really weak in the Luxe Lodge. This was a pity as we would have loved to lounge in the balcony of the Luxe Lodge and surf the internet at the same time. Then again, it was no big deal as we were really there to disconnect with the world. The complimentary rum punch, cookies and chocolate was a delight to have and we usually had it for a bit of afternoon tea between meals.

The rooms had a colonial vibe to them. A stronger fan would have been nice as it did get stuffy at times. Also, insect repellent for the rooms would be a nice addition. Otherwise, we loved the rooms and the mosquito net used was extremely effective.

Food:
The food at Boucan Restaurant was fantastic! We couldn't fault it, although we would have appreciated having more St Lucian fare on the menu though. We spoke to one of the staff about that and they offered to set aside some of the staff's dinner for us the next day. It was really delicious as well, and well worth the try!
