Went with a group of 30 which made it seem like a tourist trip. Would have been very fun with just a small group.

The guide at the "volcano" was informative about the history of the area and the plants that we saw. The smell of sulphur made you feel that you were in a unique place. It was similar to the hot springs in Yellowstone Park in Wyoming, but on a much, much smaller scale. We ventured on to the nearby mud baths by minivan. After gradually immersing ourselves into the waist/chest deep 100 F. degree water, we lounged in the concrete retaining pool that measures about 10 feet X 10 feet. After a few minutes, we crawled out and walked upstream where a shallow creek carried hot water and smeared our bodies (no nudity allowed) with the mud. It was an excellent exfoliator. We let it dry then returned to the pool area to wash off the mud. We further washed in an outdoor shower, then dried and changed from our swimsuits in one of the small rooms. Our skin felt moist and ultra smooth for at least a day. I was amazed at the temporary transformation.

If you can stomach the sulphur smell and the hot water, it was a very good and memorable experience. Our therapist accompanied us so it was much more interesting to hear all about the springs and to go to the natural waterfall afterwards to refresh
