“Incredible Honeymoon!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2010

We could not have found a better place for our honeymoon than Anse Chastanet (and Jade Mountain) in St. Lucia! From the moment we arrived at the airport, their service level was amazing. Every employee was authentic and sincere- they truly cared how your stay was going. All of the food was delicious! As were the cocktails. As they suggest prior to arrival and when you arrive, it's best to get a meal plan instead of paying ala carte. It's definitely worth the money (you end up saving a lot)! Plus, you can relax and enjoy every moment without worrying how much you're spending everytime you eat or drink. As their website and the reviews say, there are quite a few stairs from the beach to the rooms. But, honestly, they were refreshing! Plus, they have a shuttle available if you want a ride. We got the 7 night Yin/Yang package- first 4 nights at Anse Chastanet Hillside Deluxe, last 3 in a room at Jade Mountain. Both accomodations were amazingly beautiful and comfortable. We loved having the missing wall as the sea breeze was so refreshing (you could hear the ocean!), the jungle views were inspiring and the openness reminded us that we were in a special place. There were few bugs, and occasionally a lizard or bird would visit which was fun. All of the activities and guides were just awesome- from Meno to Xavier (jungle biking is a MUST!), we had a nice balance of relaxation and activities. I do wish we'd taken more advantage of the snorkeling as it was such easy access- but we'll just have to go back again one day! The 2nd beach, Anse Mamin, was so easy to get to and enjoy. The rumor that they have the best hamburger is true- it was delicious! I was almost in tears when we left to go back home- I just wanted to stay! Friendly and attentive staff, beach and jungle paradise- this is the best spot for a honeymoon- or any romantic vacation!

This was our second visit to AC and it did not disappoint. Lured back by the fantastic location, nestling between the Pitons and Anse Mamin, together with top quality food and outstanding service, this is a first class hotel. The Early Romance AI package provided value for money and included a half day trip on the hotel yacht Searenity, a visit to the drive in volcano, mountain biking, Soufriere walking tour, massage, snorkelling and scuba diving. We would recommend an AI package to all visitors as providing value for money. Our upgrade to Jade Mountain for one night was truly appreciated and afforded butler service and infinity pool overlooking the Pitons in luxurious accommodation.
Prior to our departure form the UK we took vitamin tablets containing a high dosage of selenium and this helped keep mosquitoes at bay together with 50% Deet spray. The few bites we received were relatively easy to deal with and caused no problems, contrary to experience of other visitors. Go prepared!
Staff members were all fantastic, but to name a few - Meno, our guide and mentor on walks and about the hotel, provided a good humoured wealth of knowledge. Jungle, Zena, Manuel and Bernd (in the scuba / snorkel centre) , Carmen (lovely omlettes at breakfast) , Janice ( a mean shot with the water pistols), Kimberley (Trou au Diable bar/ restaurant), Dave (in the Piton bar), to mention but a few, all made our visit special and memorable. AC is a truly special holiday, different to any other resort we have ever visited. Once you have been you will want to go back and we plan to do so in the future. A big thank you to Karolin, Peter and Sabine for making our stay truly memorable. We are already saving for our next visit. Trevor & Liz, West Yorks. UK

My husband and I stayed at Jade Mt. for 5 nights and Anse Chastenet for two nights on our honeymoon. I cannot rave enough about how wonderful Jade was. Anse Chastenet is cute and rustic, but more like a sleep-away-camp than a honeymoon destination. The location and the service were absolutely great-. The staff was warm, friendly, accommodating, especially Bonny (waitstaff at the beach). I couldn't have been more pleased with the staff and the service. I will say that the room we stayed in was average at best, hot (even with extra fans) and filled with mosquitoes. I was covered in bug spray while sleeping and was still being eaten alive. We did go during the rainy season, so that may have played a role. Our room (Bougainvillea) was very muggy with littel air circulating. I could barely sleep due to the heat, and felt pretty miserable alying awake sweating serving as a meal for hordes of mosquitoes. If I went again and had to stay at Anse Chastenet, I would get an air conditioned room. Other pluses are the beach, location, and excurscions. Overall, I dont recommend a standard room at Anse Chastenet in early Sept. for a honeymoon. It may be lovely during the dry season or in an air conditioned room, particularly with the great location, staff, food, and excursions.

Just returned from Anse Chastanet after a four night stay, and can't say enough good things about the hotel, and St Lucia, in general. It was truly a tropical paradise - and Chastanet made the most of the fabulous surroundings. We stayed on the hillside (2A), with views of the Caribbean and the Pitons (a little obstructed by a tree, but I wouldn't want the tree cut down either). It was hot, (our room did not have a/c), but we moved our bed directly under the overhead fan, and kept the balcony doors open at night to the island breezes, which made sleeping much more comfortable and fun. We were not bothered by mosquitoes, or any bugs for that matter. The food was excellent, the activities were great, and the staff was credible.
Unfortunately, I was not impressed by the beaches - gray/black sand, which does not highlight the blue of the water, although the water was very clear. And the airport cannot handle the influx of travelers that visit St Lucia. All in all, we would go back in a heartbeat.

My fiance and I traveled to Anse Chastenet and we got married there! It was absolutely wonderful. Our room was open air and so peaceful and tranquil. The staff was fabulous, meeting our every needs. We really liked Innocent and Marilyn, who even served as witnesses in our wedding ceremony. It was a fabulous trip. I wouldn't change a thing.

We came here for our 10th Wedding Anniversary after being recommended by my parents who had come for their anniversary 8 years previous. It is in a beautiful setting overlooking a small bay with the Pitons behind. If you want state of the art hotel rooms with air coditioning, TV and telephone and large swimming pool in the complex and local wildlife nearby in a park, This is NOT for you ! The rooms are found in the jungle hills with all the flora and fauna right there with you and decorated with beautiful art work but no technology! The Tree house, New tree house and Petit Piton Restaurants are all fabulously decorated with art on the walls and sculptures and serve amazing food including a vegetarian menu. They are situated up high overlooking the bay. Down the many steps to the beach you will find another restaurant which in the evening has a Grill menu or Apsara, which is a mix of Caribbean and Indian food. There is also another bay where there is a grill at lunchtime and a bar where the cocktails are fabulous ! The staff are the most friendly and helpful we have met in a long time. It was so peaceful, great if you just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is an active resort too, if you want it to be, partly because of all the steps ! There are Yoga and fitness classes during the day on the beach at the pavillion. Kayaks, mountain biking, snorkling and scuba diving are also available. Could not fault the resort at all. We had an amazing time and would love to go back soon.

I just wanted to write a review because I used trip advisor so much to choose our destination. My fiance and I traveled to St. Lucia together and we got married there also. First and foremost I would like to say how much Cory (my fiance) and I enjoyed the staff at Anse Chastanet. Everyone we encounted at the resort was so lovely. Of the staff we really enjoyed Peter Jean Paul, Marilyn, Janel, and Dave. The only person at the Resort we didnt quite enjoy was a lady named Cedelle, who just didnt seem to be a very happy person... everyone else was just so lovely. It was a very relaxing and magnificent vacation/wedding/honeymoon. I would go back in a heartbeat. There are a lot of stairs and if you are in shape you should have no problem with the stairs. We thought of the stairs as our exercise on vacation. They also have a shuttle that you can take down to the beach. Our wedding was just beautiful and the photographer was wonderful. We couldnt have asked for better pictures. The food was pretty good, now I say this being pregnant and having had no taste for anything but cantelope before I left. If you can do it, I would reccomend doing the all inclusive meal like we did. If we hadnt the food would have been pretty expensive. We were in 15A and im not sure what the other rooms looked like but we really liked ours. It was great. Had a view of the jungle and the ocean. Some other rooms looked as though they had great views of the Pitons. The beach was great, we always had a beach hut, and the water was wonderful. The sand was really neat too, because of the volcano erupting or something a long long time ago the beach has black sand. The service was great, sometimes we caught ourselves waiting on the bill... but then we thought- "whats out hurry, its beautiful and we having nothing to do but chill" We met a friend John Bismol on the beach and his motto was "maximum chill" and I think that goes for the whole people... and we loved it. The ride to and from Anse Chastanet from the airport is quite an adventure. If you are pregnant or suffer from car sickness TAKE MEDICINE beforehand. Overall this was an awesome trip and I would tell anyone to go. If you cant have fun here... Well, i dont think you can have anywhere.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Tranquility, Romance, Adventure: What were Caribbean hotels like when you sat watching the sunset instead of cable TV? You can still find that Classic Caribbean at Anse Chastanet on St. Lucia’s quiet southwestern coast where two magical peaks, the Pitons, leap from the sea and the mountains are covered with luminous greenery.Architect owner Nick Troubetzkoy believes passionately in nature. So he created a hotel that makes the foliage and the flowers, the perfumes and the peaks, the sea and the bird song an integral part of your vacation experience. The estate encompasses 600 lush tropical acres bordering two soft sand beaches. The resort’s two crystal-clear bays are part of a designated marine reserve protecting miles of colorful coral reefs teeming with tropical fish. With such a unique setting as his canvas, Nick Troubetzkoy was inspired to design a one -of-a-kind resort. A dozen rooms are tucked in behind the coconut palms that line the beach and the remainder tip toe up a flower decked hillside, taking advantage of the captivating scenery all around. Anse Chastanet’s ever growing art collection provides a visual feast of its own. There are impressive wooden sculptures and plaques, earthy burlap compositions, painted “sky ceilings” and vibrant acrylic paintings invoking memories of Matisse and Picasso. And while the sensuous seclusion of the rooms provides some guests with the perfect excuse for lolling away the day on the balcony, others head out to partake in the many activities on offer; yoga, snorkeling, scuba diving, tennis, sunset sailing, sea kayaking or jungle biking, hiking and bird-watching among the ruins of an 18th century colonial plantation. ... more   less
