“Lovely family vacation”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

In reading other reviews of this property, I find them right on the money. The thing that makes this resort exceptional is that not only does it have a beautiful, well-maintained property, but the staff is absolutely incredibly amazing accommodating and kind.
We too opted for the helicopter to and from the airport, and we were not sorry. Others complained about the horrid drive from the airport, and it was nice to bypass that. The hotel was lovely about making the helicopter arrangements for us, and the helicopter company was very efficient. Our bags arrived about 2 hours after we did, which was not a problem since we had packed bathing suits in small carry-ons.
Our accommodations were absolutely spectacular. We had a three bedroom apartment with gracious living space overlooking the harbor with a partial beach view and a plunge pool. It was an absolutely beautiful room.
As "foodies," however, we were disappointed with the selections at the two restaurants. The Palms is only open three day a week, and the menu does not vary. The food is quite good here, but the service can be painfully slow. (We waited 30 minutes for them to clear our dinner dishes and offer us dessert one night.) The bar here closes on the nights that the restaurant is not open, so the beach bar is then the only option.
The Beaches restaurant can be spotty: Although the staff here are incredibly nice, it is generally very busy, and the breakfast buffet is limited. Very little fresh fruit is offered, and the breakfast selections don't vary at all. The dinner buffets can be worse: one night they "ran out" of the meat at the carving stations. (Although the seafood buffet was really nice.) The a la carte menu is very small, and during our stay they were out of several menu items. Also, other than a fun steel drum band on Sunday and the saxophone player on Friday, there really is no entertainment or evening events to speak of.

Room Tip: I think all of the rooms are amazing.

No matter what the brochure or the travel agent says, its always nerve wracking arriving at the hotel for the first time. You wonder if its going to be OK, clean, friendly staff, nice food etc. Well, if you want to go to a hotel where you don't have to worry about any of that, then book the Landings in St Lucia. What an amazing place. My friend and i were in St Lucia to celebrate her birthday which was on the 26th June. From the moment we stepped into the Foyer, to the minute we left, we were totally spoiled. The environment is quite simply stunning. We had the most beautiful suite, it overlooked the Caribbean on one side and the harbour on the other. our every need was catered for in the apartment The gardens were immaculate and I cannot praise the staff highly enough. Everyone was kind, thoughtful and friendly. My only gripe and it is a minor one, is that there is no WiFi available in the rooms, though it is available at the beach restaurant and reception. We totally loved staying here and will definitely return to the Landings again in the near future. By the way, the guy that plays the saxophone on a Friday night at the beach club restaurant is awesome.

THANK YOU for staying with us for your birthday celebration. We are thrilled that you were happy with your choice. Thanks also for mentioning our associates. BTW, the saxaphonist is Rob Zii Taylor and he has a few albums produced. He is here nearly every Friday. Thank you for choosing The Landings. We look forward to welcoming you back.

The Landings have done it, every other hotel will be compared to the Landings.

Our family travels a lot and our group of 4 either needs a suite or 2 rooms, but the Landings changed all that. We didn't stay at a luxury hotel, we stayed at a luxury home. Everything you need at home was here.

The room is a beautiful and luxurious 2 bedroom. The kitchen has high end stainless steel appliances, with all the utensils needed. The AC works excellently and we have 3 tvs. We enjoyed cooking our meals and sitting outside on the balcony.

The pools are ice and perfect for now, I doubt when the place is full whether they are enough. The grounds are immaculate and beautiful.

The beach club has great buffets and breakfast is awesome. Drinks are also very good.

The beach is probably the nicest on St. Lucia.

All in all this place is about as close as you can get to perfect for a family.

Beautiful hotel, but the beds are really hard. A few things that could improve the hotel are:
Replacing the shower gel when it runs out
Computer room, with a few computers
Tea bags in the kitchen (not just coffee)
More vegetarian options in the dining room
Cleaning the loo near the beach -IT STINKS!
Maybe another pool, if the hotel had been busy, those that they have would have been insufficient
There were no "get togethers" for guests such as a Manager's cocktail party, so because of the layout of the hotel, guests do not get to mix as well as in other Caribbean hotels
Somewhere to relax/dance after dinner with some lighting (look at La Source, Grenada, lovely layout for evening time)

Would have been nice if the concierge had known how rough the trip to Mustique would be, and issued a warning, would not take that trip again, half the passengers were really ill, not to be recommended unless you are a really good sailor.

Would definitely return, the staff are lovely, always polite and helpful, as indeed everyone in the Caribbean is. A few tweaks would make this perfect.

Room Tip: We had two huge bedrooms, sitting room, three loos etc, I assumed that all the apartments were large...

We arrived at The Landings 8/3/2013 and stayed for 7 nights. Our family of four -- my husband, myself, 13 yr old son and 15 yr old daughter. We had a beachfront villa with a plunge pool. Our villa was on the beach, next to the pool and next to the Beach Club restaurant. We decided to maximize our vacation time and take the helicopter transfer (12 min flight) from the airport to the smaller airport with a short ride (12 mins) to The Landings. This eliminated the 2 hour taxi ride. The hotel offers a free shuttle to Rodney Bay where you can shop, get groceries, beverages, etc... I believe this shuttle runs 2-3 times a day. We ate breakfast every morning in our villa and lunch each day at The Beach Club. Sharlem, Monique and Trisha took great care in providing us with wonderful service each day during lunch and always smiling! We became fast and quick friends Sheryl. She always found us with her fabulous smile whether we were on the beach or at the pool to bring us a Piton(local beer), a Rum Punch or drinks for the kids! Be sure to see Ashelle and Lucia for tours and restaurant suggestions. The hotel will arrange for a taxi service to take you to dinner. While most of us are accustomed to "a taxi", these taxi's are private cars with drivers that will drop you off and pick you back up at your requested time. Charge to Rodney Bay is $30 usd, but petro/gas is about $8 a gallon usd on the island. Ask for Sadiq(Sah-deek)! Just a bit of info... The locals do roam the beach in an attempt to hustle their goods... shells, services, jewlery, etc... They can be a bit aggressive and they are not afraid to approach you on the beach while you lounge. The Landings Security is always on the beach and they do keep a watchful eye. Keep in mind, You can purchase whatever you want or simply and politely refuse the locals.
Many thanks to The Landings for a wonderful vacation! Also, a special thanks to Gertrude who answered all of my (100) questions prior to our visit.

Places to eat outside of the resort .... Big Chef, Buzz, The Edge, Firegrill & The Cliff at Cap Maison

Be sure to see The Pitons, Sugar Beach, The Waterfall, The Volcano, The Mudbaths & Marigot Bay.

Stayed 9 nights at The Landings in early August with my wife and 2 teenage children.

We booked a 2-bedroom 'beach-front' apartment on a bed and breakfast basis and were simply blown away by the incredible 3-bedroom apartment we were placed in (no.113).

A huge, luxury apartment with really high end furnishings, 3 bathrooms + an extra loo off the living room, a fully fitted out kitchen (with a big American fridge with ice-maker and a blender that got lots of use making smoothies as the fruit man visited the beach in his boat several times each day), a washing room (with washer and dryer) and a massive first floor balcony overlooking the perfect beach.

We had toyed with paying the extra for a plunge pool but as we were so close to the beach we didn't regret the decision one bit.

The board basis worked really well for us. Breakfast was great (lots of varying hot options, fruit, pastries etc) and then we sometimes ate a late lunch at the beach bar and other days we had a salad in the room and then went to one of the two restaurants open in the evening or ordered room service.

The room service menu was good and the food we tried was prompt and good quality. There is a $10 delivery charge but the prices were reasonable.

The beach restaurant was great during the day - really good food and varied light menu (although the service could be slow - our food took almost an hour one day although we did get a round of free drinks and offered some snacks while we waited).

Evening at the beach restaurant was a little hit and miss. There was a themed buffet each night (some of which we liked the look of and others we were less keen on) and a more limited a la carte menu than offered during the day.

The Palms restaurant was good (but only open Thurs,Sat & Sun) - a bit more expensive but more refined dining and some nice fish dishes

There is a full drinks service on the beach (just put your flag up to be served) and everything could be charged to the room.

There was happy hour between 5.30 and 6.30 each night (all drinks half price). On Fridays happy hour lasts until 8pm and there is a saxophonist Rob who was great. Our only quibble about happy hour was that the drinks could take up to 30 mins to arrive so don't leave it too late if you want more than one cheap drink.

The hotel runs free shuttles in to Rodney Bay 3 times a day (you need to book) so getting supplies in is easy. If you want to eat out at all in the evenings then you will probably want to get a hotel into town (US$15 each way) or can walk along to Pigeon Island (10 mins left out of the main gate past Sandals) and try out Jambe du Bois on the waterfront which gets excellent reviews (nb closed for August and September for renovation).

The gym was well equipped - exercise machines had their own screens - and the tennis courts were well maintained.

The beach is a real jewel - really soft sand - crystal blue clear water. A large marked swimming area and surprisingly good snorkelling within that area (we found an octopus, several cuttle fish, some huge star fish and several small morays!). We never had a problem getting loungers with shade at any time of day and the resort was 2/3 full when we visited.

The Landings seems to be in a good location to avoid the showers that regularly drifted across the southern end of Rodney Bay - in the 9 days we were there we only had 4 short showers - it was mainly sunny the rest of the time.

The 'official' free watersports (kayaks, paddle boards, hobbykats) were almost always available - but motorised watersports (including parasailing, jet skis and waterskiing) were available intermittently from local vendors hovering at the end of the beach although the hotel discourages use of these.

There was very little 'sales' activity on the beach with the Landings security actively discouraging hawkers from disturbing the guests.

The grounds around the resort are lush and perfectly maintained. There are one or two areas that could do with a touch of paint but generally the gardens themselves were immaculate.

Finally - a mention to the hard working staff - they were always friendly and helpful. We left some earrings in the room when we checked out and they had them back to us within 2 days (thanks Anna on the front desk!)

All in all - one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. Not for those who want nightly entertainment, motorised watersports, pool games, lots of cheap drinks and all inclusive dining (although I think that option does exist) but perfect for couples and families looking for undisturbed peaceful luxury…

Room Tip: Ocean front rooms are worth paying for

We just returned from a wonderful week in St Lucia The Landings. When I first booked I was a little skeptical to what I was getting myself into it seemed to good to be true. Well it was everything the brochure says it would be relaxing, good food, fabulous rooms and resort. I was really impressed when we arrived and was taken to our room. I couldn't believe the size and the amenities of this condo. It had everything one might need for a one week or longer stay. The rooms were beautifully decorated and everything was well thought of and available to us. The rooms had high end appliances and very spacious. We especially liked our outdoor space that had lounging chairs, a large table with chairs and let's not forget the very spacious hot tub surrounded by flowers and greenery. The food at the restaurants was very good, the breakfast had everything one might one and very flavourful. At night you had the choice of A la Carte or a buffet, everything tasted great. The only thing I would warm people about is that the resort doesn't offer many activities so if you are planning a vacation filled with activities this is not the spot for you. The resort is very quiet and relaxing, you do not hear loud music or bothered to do a dance class etc...It's pure relaxation, teens might get bored but I enjoyed every minute. The sea is very calm and my daughter and I spent hours floating and swimming in the ocean..I must not forget to mention some of the wonderful staff working at the resort, we met some very hard working people that made it their purpose to ensure that everyone was happy and enjoying their vacation.
I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning one day.

Room Tip: We had a room on the ground floor 402 it was very close to the pool and the restaurant, this locatio...
