The Landings would be our first choice of anywhere in the world, not only because of its luxuriant and extremely comfortable atmosphere but because the staff are every holiday-maker's dream. To say that they are warm, helpful and extremely kind would be an understatement; they can't do enough to please you and genuinely go out of their way to make your holiday memorable. Indeed, all the islanders are the same. They extend such a warm welcome to all visitors and they leave us with really special memories.

I can't add anything more to what Flying T-Rex has already said; we are obviously singing from the same hymn-sheet! T-Rex got a great deal and we are chasing his dream now but suffice to say that The Landings can offer you more than you could ever wish for. Try the lovely girls in the Spa; they are exceptional in what they do and have added that certain something to each of our vacations. From there, relax with a delightful fruit punch in the Beach Club and order a delicious lunch, carefully cooked by Chef Pat and served by gorgeous girls (and boys!) like Brenda, Tamar, Rosanna and Clayma. Relax a while before taking a leisurely boat trip with Milo, before returning to base to relax in a sumptuous apartment, maintained admirably by Rosetta and her colleagues. Sorry, I'm getting carried away here and sound like a travel agent....but I'm not, I just love staying at The Landings.

We look forward to sharing this luxury with you when you join us. I can assure you, you will not regret one single minute of it.

Room Tip: All rooms have excellent views. Some rooms have a hot tub, not all.

This resort is very upscaled and immaculately maintained. I was resistant to a caribbean vacation but persuaded to go by my family members who outvoted me on the decision for a spring break getaway. We had previously gone to a resort in Punta Cana for this same time period and I was underwhelmed.

The resort was not crowded so if you are looking for conga lines and people bothering you for activities, try the Sandals down the beach. If you want a sophisticated and relaxed setting on a beautiful beach with great service, then I recommend that you choose the Landings for your vaction destination.

The Landings vacation was perfect. We had a two bedroom unit and it was spacious, beautifully appointed and very clean. It makes it so much more enjoyable when you are not always on top of each other or fighting for the shower during a beach vacation. Our unit had two decks, one with a hot tub that we made alot of use of, and it overlooked a pool on one side and the harbour on the other. I think that the harbour view was ideal and it is not really worth spending extra for the ocean view.

We stocked our fridge with breakfast and lunch items (if you are a picky shopper go to the JL supermarket on the left in Rodney Bay Mall and skip the Super GL) so we had those meals in our unit and went out for dinner. There were two full bathrooms in the unit and three tvs so after returning from a night out, we could all retreat to our own corners and watch the show of our choice and everything was available, as there were about 100 channels.

The beach is very easily accessible which makes this resort unique in St. Lucia. There were plenty of chairs and umbrellas and there are floats available to use in the water and complimentary sailboats and kayaks. There are three pools as well and there was never a fight for a chair or a towel. There was hardly anyone at the pools. The staff bends over backwards to make it nice for you and they are all so friendly. The grounds are beautiful and very lush and extremely well maintained. We also used the gym facility which was very nice and very clean as well.

It might have been the time of year, or the overall effect of the economy, but the place was sort of empty, not alot of kids and very few teenagers, most of the guests were older. Some staying there for months as they were owners of the condos.

One suggestion for a day trip, see Kieran who docks his boat in the marina and he will take you around the island by water and show you a great time. He is a go with the flow kind of guy and seems to really enjoy himself and is not about the money. We really enjoyed our day out with him, but as an aside, you can skip the land part of the tour in Soufriere as the volcano and the waterfall are not that big of a deal. Maybe do more snorkeling or fishing instead.

So to sum it up, if you are looking for a relaxing vacation in an upscale environment, this is the place.

Room Tip: Second floor harbour view with a jacuzzi, very private and great views

We were familiar with The Landings before we booked because we had seen the resort promoted on Jetsetter.com. We started out looking for something a little less expensive, but noticed that The Landings was running a great sale...so we booked a one-bedroom harbor view for $339/night for 5 nights. Great Decision!! The Landings is beautiful, elegant, and worth every penny. We were upgraded to a stunning two-bedroom harbor view that looked like something out of a magazine. Biggest surprise...the front entry door led to a huge outdoor balcony that overlooked the ocean. The Master bedroom, living room/dining room, and back balcony had great views of the harbor, which is beautiful too. (Picture lots of lush green/flowering landscaping set against a small fleet of yachts and sailboats bobbing around on the Caribbean water) Actually, calling the balcony a balcony is somewhat misleading. It was really more like a large outdoor living/dining room with a hot tub to boot. Some days we couldn't decide which balcony we wanted to sit on.

As beautiful as the rooms were, we thought that the people who work at The Landings are some of the friendliest, kindest, most helpful people we have ever seen at any resort anywhere. For that matter, we found the island to be the same way. Exceptional!

We ate at both The Beach Club and The Palms. The Beach Club food was good, (not excellent) but its setting (panoramic water views), resonable prices, and convenience made it a no-brainer for most meals. The service was very good by Caribbean standards, slowing somewhat when the place was busy. The Palms was excellent by any standard.

Favorite Things:

We booked our airport transporation both ways with Serenity Tours. They were not only a great value, but they were helpful, friendly, and patient (I ask a lot of questions) as well. We highly recommend them!! As a surprise for my wife, I splurged on a helicopter transfer for our arrival that was a spectacular "welcome to the island." Serenity charged $95 for a ground transfer for two people, or $305 for a helicopter for two people. The helicopter ride provided a beautiful end to a long travel day and a quicker (and much more exciting) start to our vacation...cutting well over an hour off the drive to the hotel. We took the ground transfer for our return and were driven in a van with only four captains chairs. The ride was almost two hours, so the space (and the complimentary rum punch and beer) made the ride much more enjoyable.

Upon several local recommendations, we went to Gros Inlet (a 15 minute beach walk or a 5 minute cab ride from The Landings) for the weekly Friday night street party and gorged ourselves on barbeque chicken and fish with the locals. It was the best (and cheapest) meal of our trip.

Waverunners on the beach at The Landings are extremely resonable. We paid $50 for a half hour and had a total blast exploring the bay, checking out the yachts, and looking at Pigeon Island up close.

The Landings was wonderful! It may be a little more expensive than other resorts, but there is tremendous value in what you are getting for the price. There is a $30/day resort fee which we found fairly standard, but no other surprises. At the hotel store, cokes were $1.50 and full size bottles of suntan lotion were $10. At any other place the prices would be twice that. We felt the same way about the restaurants.

Two enthusiatic thumbs up!

We booked The Landings with two other families on the recommendation of a friend. Photos of the resort are truly what it looks like. The accommodations are the best we have ever stayed in, compared to the other Caribbean islands we have visited. High end appliances, hot tubs on most verandas and beautiful furnishings and views. We had Carina and Wincia at the concierge desk arrange for dinner reservations for our party of 11 before we arrived. We had to tweak them a little to accommodate a restaurant that was recommended after we arrived and they handled the switches effortlessly. Best dinners out were at Big Chef Steakhouse (ask for Kendall as a waiter) and The Cliffs at Cap Maison Resort...other special meals were at The Buzz & La Terrasse (Claudia the owner is a doll). Breakfast and lunch at the Beach Grill were very tasty, service was a little slow at times but in paradise that's ok. Dinners at the Beach Club and The Palms were very nice. My brother and sister in law had sent a beautiful and delicious cake to out room for my birthday and the crew at the Palms was very accommodating in serving it to our friends as dessert after dinner. The beach is beautiful...clean, clear water and beach. Local guys rented us jet skis, we kayaked and enjoyed fruit from the fruit man. who pulled up to the beach daily. Some of our group took a hike up Pigeon Island and the pictures of the view are stunning. Waiters and waitresses the Beach Club were very nice, especially Brenda. Gertrude at the main desk is very sweet and accommodating. Fitness club was nice as well...just needs more lighter hand weights, stability balls and maybe a few Bender balls. The weights and equipment (other than the treadmills, gliders and bikers) were geared towards muscle building not toning. A couple of us used the spa and really liked it. Over all, we would definitely return to the Landings.

Room Tip: 600 and 700 buildings are perfect locations

We had read differing reviews of The Landings and resolved to keep an open mind.

On arrival we received a warm welcome. It would have been nice to have had the cool towels that we noticed were being handed out to new arrivals a week later when we were waiting for our bus to the airport but no matter.

Our apartment was fabulous. I note that other luckier people were upgraded. That didn't happen to us but we could not fault the apartment at all. You could live there quite easily, it is that huge. The views over the Caribbean Sea was stunning; the appliances were top notch; the bed was comfortable. No complaints at all.

We were very close to the beach and, as others have said, this was a lovely place to relax. Service from the beach club was hit and miss on the beach but was generally ok.

Breakfasts were perhaps the low point of the experience. We accepted early on that nothing is done too quickly in The Caribbean but we sometimes had to wait too long to be served. On a couple of days they had freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice but they always had to check and when it wasn't available the boxed juices were disappointing. On two days they ran out of maple syrup - again a small matter but a shame.

Fabian was the friendliest of the waiting staff. None of the others was rude but we were expecting the fabled friendliness that we had heard about and it wasn't really in evidence.

We didn't have tennis lessons but we had dealings with the tennis coach and he was a great guy. The concierge staff were generally helpful in booking taxis and restaurants for us.

On the final day, we were there until late afternoon and they let us have a courtesy room which was helpful.

We had a fantastic holiday and loved the room but service wasn't quite up to 5 star standard on occasion.

Room Tip: Ocean views are stunning. We were on the second floor and had a beautiful view.
