Spent 8 days in January in the condo. A wonderful apartment, great view, good location to explore the north part of the island. The kitchen is nicely equipped, the washer/dryer was very handy, WIFI worked good, enough TV channels. The air conditioner worked great, but did not have to use it very much though. Hosts Debi and Ansel extremely nice people, accommodating to all our needs, extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We never had a worry there, felt extremely safe and would highly recommend.
Their are neighbors, but cannot tell that they are even there. Good privacy with the great view. Bus stop close by makes it easy to explore the north part of the island. Easy and cheap and fast to get to Gros Islet, Castries, and Rodney Bay on the bus. The street that goes by the condo is a main road and we felt safe walking it day or night. The grocery store close by is handy along with the local fruit stands. Not much for restaurants close by, but a little north is a small local stand that has Caribbean style breakfast all day and then serves fish after 8pm and north of the grocery store across the street from the Courts store is a small bar that serves grilled ribs and chicken every evening. Calabash cove is within walking distance and is a great place to go for cocktails, dinner, and they have a nice beach. It is on the pricey side, but very nice. The beach just below the condo is very secluded and nice, but due to all the rocks in the water are unable to swim there.
Great place to stay.
My friend and I stayed at these apartments (2 bedroom each with ensuite) for 7 nights in March 2016 after viewing quite a few apartments near the beach /Rodney Bay area while we were in St Lucia. I have to say they were the most modern, clean and well equipped apartments we viewed while we were there. Granted that this is because they are brand new. Before I got to St Lucia I had seen these apartments in the popular tv programme A place in the sun and also on Trip advisor so while we were there we went to view them and luckily the owner was there at the same time. The apartments were available for the 7 nights we wanted so we booked them.
The sea views from the decking/balcony and the main bedroom were amazing and also being south facing the whole condo was bright, warm and sunny throughout the day. You can see the beautiful sunset while having a few drinks. The apartments are very safe as they have an alarm system and just on the corner of the main road (where you can catch the bus to Castries or Rodney Bay). Although these apartments were not on the beach, there were a few options:
1. Calabash Cove hotel (Adults Only) is a 10 minute walk from the apartments. This is up and down a few steep hills so I would recommend good foot wear. Luckily for us, the day we checked in, Anselm the owner of the apartment, very kindly drove us to the Calabash Cove hotel and introduced us to the staff there so we could use their facilities such as beach, bar, pool and have lunch there. Please note using the beach is free as all beaches in St Lucia are public beaches, but if you wanted to use their pool then there in a 20 USD charge for the day which is not bad. We had lunch there one day and I would definitely recommend food there. This hotel is truly a Caribbean Paradise where people go to ease all their stress. This hotel was the most peaceful hotel we came across. The management and other staff were absolutely amazing and so welcoming. My sincere thanks to Wanita, Rohan and the bar/beach staff for making our days there so blissful and heavenly.
2. The bus stop to catch a bus to Rodney Bay or Castries is on your doorstep and is a very frequent service, which we used quite a lot. The locals are the most friendliest, approachable and well spoken people I have ever met. What is more is that they have instilled the same etiquettes in their children. So using the buses is very comfortable - you can go to Rodney Bay beach or Vigie beach (please read my review for more details) which is en route to Castries.
3. Windjammer Resort is not too far from these apartments. It is quite a walk away however we did walk there and back (approx 30mins one way) but I am sure you can take taxis there and back. It is a family resort with good facilities and a nice beach. (We also spent a lovely evening at this hotel just having a few drinks and cocktails and there was good live music).
Location being so close to Calabash Cove Hotel (5 star)
Location being so close to the bus stop and the supermarket
Excellent Wi-Fi connection
TV with some channels that are English (movie channels) and quite a few children’s channels
Apartments came with mosquito repellant spray, however the compounds of these apartments did not have mosquitos like the previous apartments we stayed in prior to this one had.
A very well equipped apartment with delicious complementary collection of teas and hot chocolates and not to mention a bottle of wine as well.
Communication with Anselm was fantastic. He got back to us within minutes when we had problems with the air conditioning units in one of the rooms.
A couple of our days were wasted as the air conditioning in one of the rooms broke down. In the end the whole unit had to be replaced externally by an engineer, but thanks to Anselm it was done efficiently so rest assured that the next guests will not have this problem.
There is a supermarket 5 minutes from these apartments, but for fresh bakery products I suggest you go early. Now this supermarket is also open on Sunday which is handy.
There is a Dominos Pizza branch nearby that do deliver to these apartments but you need to find out the details. Might be worth asking the owner what restaurants are nearly. We both cooked something simple indoors and took a bus to Rodney Bay for dinner.
There is a man with a mobile van near the supermarket that sells fresh Sugarcane juice which is very refreshing (specials on Friday with ginger) - I would highly recommend to try this.
If you are adventurous I would highly recommend zip lining in the treetops. It is expensive, but worth it.
Suggestions for the apartments:
It would be very useful if the apartments came with a mobile phone with some credit/minutes to make local calls such as ordering food and arranging excursions. Obviously the guests would then be responsible for the phone and expense of topping up with credit.
It would also be very convenient for the apartments to have takeaway leaflets for guests to order in. Cards for taxi firms would also be very beneficial.
Lastly, I would like to say a big thank you to Anselm the owner of these apartments for making our stay there so enjoyable.
