We first ate at The Edge on our last trip to St Lucia, 3 years ago, and had such a memorable evening that we were keen to repeat the experience. There was always a risk that the 2nd visit would fail to live up to the high expectations we took with us but I'm delighted to report that it was just as good this time around.
The waterside setting is perfect. It's worth booking in advance and requesting a table on 'the edge' where you can look out directly across the water, and the strains of the cool jazz playing in the background are accompanied by the lapping of the water below your table ... we did wonder how much cutlery they lost as a dropped fork could be very difficult to retrieve!
The food is exceptional and is truly fine dining at what I believe is michelin-star level. I noted some of the previous reviews with dismay and can only assume that the reviewers arrived with very different expectations - think 'Master Chef' rather than 'Little Chef' and you'll be on the right lines :) This does however come with a price tag to match but for a truly memorable dining experience in such a romantic setting, which will last with us long after the credit card bill has been settled, we felt it was worth it.
I'm not going to describe the food in detail here as The Edge have a Web site you can check out for menus but I am just going to give an honourable mention to the dessert taster plate and, specifically, the banana tarte-tatin - absolutely divine!
Our only experience has been in the evening but I'm guessing this is a fabulous venue for a chilled-out and far more informal lunch .... maybe next time.
