Bay Gardens Beach Resort is exactly what it portends to be, which is a very nice resort. This this not the nicest place I have ever stayed but we knew that going in when we decided not to spend $15k at Sandals and chose Bay Gardens' all inclusive plan with the dine around option for half that price. The staff is very nice and the rooms are good, clean, and comfortable. The staff responded very quickly to all of our requests. The concierge (Carla) and excursion agent both did a fabulous job for us and several of the restaurant/bar managers were awesome. The food was fine but not outstanding. Always hot and fresh, but just not amazing. The dine around option was awesome to be able to get discounts outside of the two on-property restaurants. The beach is sloped and not huge but extraordinarily pretty and the water is great. Having the floating water park right in front was huge for my family and we had a ball on it. In short, if you are looking for a wonderful 4 star resort, I highly recommend.

Room tip: 3rd floor beachfront was beautiful and the stairs are no big deal.

Firstly I should say that we stayed here for a week in a group booking ,some as all inclusive and others not . It has to be said that the hotel itself is beautifully located, lovely pool and beach and offers water sports and spa a lot of which is included in inclusive package. The rooms vary, some well refurbished and others not. but overall were very comfortable with a/c and fans and British sockets is a bonus if you’re from the UK. The main restaurant is reasonable but not amazing - lunchtime burgers, sandwiches, pizzas all quite good but evening meals were fairly average. The buffet breakfast offers all the usual fair and good choice but there was frequently no plates, glasses bowls, only hot plates for fruit. The Seagrapes beachside restaurant offers the best food in the hotel -wonderful seafood but only open lunchtimes and Sun, Tues and Thurs evenings. On several days were were out of the hotel alll day and requested packed lunches as part of our expensive all inclusive booking- these were atrocious -a meagre dry white bread crustless sandwich with very limited filling and a drink - usually water in a plastic bag- no cool bag. Compared with a similar standard hotel our previous week in Barbados ( sandwiches, crisps fruit. X2, soda, water and chocolate in a cool bag with a $30 refundable deposit for the cool bag) this was appalling .Our main issue at this resort was customer service. One single lady in the party arriving in the dark at night was turned away and sent alone to another hotel being told she had booked.a sister hotel - this was incorrect and the following day she was relocated back to our hotel and finally got her room later that evening with very little apology for their error. Several of us had substantial balances “to,pay” on our accounts despite having paid in full in advance. Service was frustratingly slow in the bars and non all inclusive guests were made to feel like poor relations by staff- even being refused a bottle of water at breakfast which they had paid for in their B&Bpackage. We all requested late checkout but were all refused despite several of our rooms being available to book online on the day so the hotel was not fully booked. Eventually we were given an extra hour and a courtesy room half hour slot but it took some begrudging negotiation. There were of course some exceptions to the poor service rule with kind enthusiastic individuals keen to do a good job but the response to us raising concerns was not well managed on any occasion.
Overall this has the potential to be a lovely resort hotel but their attitude to guests needs to improve and attention to detail and service needs to make guests feel welcome and valued

Room tip: Beach front ocean view rooms are modern and lovely

We had an excellent day at Bay Gardens. My husband and son enjoyed the water park. You definitely have to be fit and strong to enjoy the structure. We absolutely loved sailing the Hobie cats across the bay, though we wish you could use it for longer than an hour: maybe a sail in the morning and one in the afternoon. The food and drink vouchers were generous and easy to use. We didn't even use all of the drink vouchers. The food was very good. Our server Sana was exceptional!!

The setting and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff is pleasant, knowledgable, and welcoming. The breakfast is delicious and varied. My room was quiet and comfortable. Wish St Lucia was closer and and easier flight away.

We found ourselves unexpectedly in St Lucia due to travel difficulties, and booked this hotel at the last minute for the night. We arrived at 4:30 pm after a long day of traveling and were made to wait at the front desk because our reservation (made by my husband's assistant while we were in the air enroute) apparently had not specified a family of 3. The room was no issue, as it had 2 queen beds, but since this is a "full service" hotel, we were obligated to pay an additional $100 "because the room includes breakfast and the water park" (which closed at 6:00 pm, but whatever) Reluctantly, we forked over the additional payment because, really, what else could we do? Since we were going to have to leave at 7:45 the next morning, I specifically asked what time breakfast would be served and was told 7:00.

The next morning, we went to the restaurant at 7:00 and were told it was not open. So, we went to the front desk and said that since we were charged extra for the breakfast which we couldn't use, we'd like to have the extra fee refunded. I've worked in the hotel business and know what it's like to be on the other side of that desk when people complain and I thought we were quite polite and reasonable in our request. The clerk said he couldn't do that, which seemed odd, since the clerk the day before had no difficulty in ADDING the extra fee; it was even put on a separate credit card charge. When we pointed this out, he rather rudely asked us if all 3 of us had slept in the room which seemed an unnecessarily snippy response. He was soon joined by the manager who also said there was nothing she could do. The whole attitude seemed to be that we were trying to cheat the hotel out of the rate they were entitled to charge, despite the fact that they were not able to provide the promised amenities which were the justification for the extra charge!
Eventually, a 3rd employee joined the group and said that the breakfast buffet was indeed open, so we gave up the argument and hurriedly wolfed down a quick breakfast before leaving for our flight.

This experience left me with a poor opinion of this hotel WHICH COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN AVOIDED. The manager could have turned this whole situation around by offering us some compensation, or even just by having someone walk over to the restaurant to check why they weren't open at the appointed time. Perhaps she truly did not have the ability to adjust the room rate but if so, the management of this resort should rethink that strategy as the front desk personnel are the ones who leave the most impression on the guests.

I think some of these resort locations feel that they don't have to treat tourists that well because they won't be coming back. Well, this was our second visit to St Lucia, and probably not the last but we definitely won't come back to this hotel !

Room tip: Lights stay on at the pool area all night. If this will bother you, choose a different location
