If you are looking for a short walk to a beach (although when we were there the sea was very very choppy and not suitable for young children) - and a pool, this may be a hotel for you. But be under no illusion that you will receive anything like a 4 star experience. When we there, the service was appalling - really simple requests (for example - a teabag at breakfast, glasses for water, even a wine list) were met with shrugs. There are plenty of places to eat nearby so don't be tempted to have anything other than breakfast here - the food really isn't great at all. We had an hour and half wait for a basic sandwich at lunchtime. Karoke and beer drinking competitions were also a feature of our stay - and as it's not a big site it can get very noisy - but this may just have been due to the time of year. Rooms are a good size and kept very clean but unfortunately this did not make up for the general malaise of the staff who we felt lacked the morale or motivation to make their guests stay either memorable or enjoyable.

I came to this hotel for a Romantic getaway…. little did I know my boyfriend had intentions of proposing. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by friendly and courteous staff. They checked us in promptly even though we had arrived hours before check in without notice. We stayed in a 1 Bedroom Suite with a pool view. It was exactly as described and pictured, in good condition, clean, comfortable and spacious. The bed was decorated for our arrival with a welcome message and flowers. Also housekeeping, who I must say did a fantastic job, folded our towels in a creative way each day - It was a mini surprise. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. On one occasion after coming in from an activity we accidentally overslept and just missed the Hawaiian style buffet dinner… all the tables were cleared and they were just taking the food into the kitchen. We asked if we could get a take away meal but restaurant staff were really sweet and said not to worry, they set up a clean table for us and took our order. Even though it must have been an inconvenience for them they were really happy and friendly and even teased us that they were giving us an exclusive dinner for 2…. they even lit candles and put the music back on. The activity desk staff member was extremely helpful and made great recommendations. The pool and hot tub were clean and well maintained. Wait staff frequented both the pool and beach ensuring that you never needed to leave your location to order a drink or small meal. The day before we were to leave we requested a late checkout but our room was not available, they offered to store our bags and provide us with another room to shower and get dressed in when we were ready to leave… this was a great convenience. I can honestly say that I personally have nothing negative to say about my stay – all staff ensured that we had a wonderful and memorable experience. I will definitely be staying here again and I would highly recommend it to others.

We stayed over the Christmas period. I cannot seriously fault the hotel; the rooms were large and clean, the pool excellent and the 50ft stroll from pool to beach manageable by even the laziest Brit on holiday!
The food is not great but with so many restaurants within a 15min walk of the hotel who cares! - try the Fire Grill, Big Chef Steakhouse and The Charthouse or if you are feeling bold the Golden Choice in Gros Islet for local food. For even more local colour take a stroll to the end of the beach past all the "all inclusive" cattle hotels to the shack at the end and get the owner (Ann Marie) to pour you some of her home made rum punch and have a chat with her - she will even make up her own mosquito repellent for you (best not to ask what's in it)
Also make sure to speak to Andre at Saluna Watersports - hire him and his speedboat for a day rather that the mass booze cruises that you see and go down to the beaches at Anse Chastanet or Jalousie. We hired it for two days and found him to be an excellent host.
Finally remember to take mosquito repellent, I never get bitten but one of our party became the mosquito equivalent of an all you can eat buffet a subject that he became quite fixated upon throughout his stay !

We have been to the BGBR a couple of times now, and its a great little hotel.
To be fair we go B&B as we like to eat elsewhere - and there is plenty of choice locally.

But, one of the things that make this hotel for us is Saluna WaterSports - and Andre who runs it.

To see what we mean look at www.saluna-watersports.com

    Just fantastic!

Just coming to the end of another 14 days in St Lucia, I say another because we are regular visitors. This is the second time we have stayed in the Bay Gardens Beach Resort.

Great hotel right on the beach. Location is the key. The beach view rooms are 10 yards from the beach and the pool view rooms are 10 yards from the pool. Relatively small hotel 84 rooms but big enough to have everything yet small enough for you to be treated as individuals. The staff/management are fantastic they all stop to say hi and to make sure that you have everything you need.

Site is compact enough that you are literally next to everything but it is set out in such a way that you are not crowded or overlooked. No need for golf buggies to get you around!

Located to one ene of Redruit Beach, plenty of hotel sun beds on the beach and hotel staff making sure hotel guests get to use them. Good selection of Watersports and also a drinks service add to the beach experience.

Hotel is about 2 years old so everything works. The rooms are spacious and very well furnished. Excellent bathrooms. We stayed in a one bed suite which has a seperate lounge/kitchen with a sofa bed ideal for kids. The kitchen is good enough to do your own thing at breakfast/lunch if you want to. You could even cook dinner if you wanted to.

There is free wi fi throughout the hotel and even on the beach, a newly enlarged spa, a shop and a tours desk. The swimming pool is first class with a lovely jacquizi built on a pedestal in the centre.

Regarding food the hotel has 2 restaurants, Hi Tide is the main one serving all 3 meals and Dolphins is it's fine dining offering(dinner only). Both are good quality and obviously convenient but coming back to Location you are 5/10 mins walk from a whole plethora of restaurants, bars and clubs offering all types of food, mostly very good quality and at various prices. Spinnakers literally next door is great and we would also recommend Delirius, Ti Bannane, and Charthouse, but there are so many to choose from.

I would strongly recommend you book room only because of the choice. also the hotel meal plans I have seen offered are no cheaper than what you pay on a walk in basis so make your mind up when you are here and mix it up.

Summarising the key points are the location, the newness of the hotel/the quality of the rooms and the fantastic people who simply cannot do enough for you.

    We will definately return
