Couldn't have asked for a better hotel to spend 10 nights at. The Staff were friendly and helpful. Our Suite was just amazing - overlooking the beach (paid extra for this but it is worth it). The whole place was clean and tidy. The Manageress was always present, as were all the Heads of Departments if you had any problems (which we didn't). The Hotel food was good and quality of wines etc. was excellent. There was always enough sunbeds around the pool and on the beach, which makes a change!!
There were characters on the beach selling necklaces etc. but a polite "no thank-you" usually worked and after a couple of days they were like your best friends!! Always waving and asking how you were. We had a lovely time.
We hired a car to drive round the Island, and it was worth it. Even though St. Lucia sounds small (27miles x 14), we managed to do over 300 miles in a week on reasonably easy roads. Nothing here goes very fast except a few irresponsible youths (same as everywhere!) - you do have to watch out for the pot holes in the roads though!
Would highly recommend St Lucia and if I came back - I would definately stay here again.

I stayed with my wife at BGBR for 8 nights in February 2009. There is not much I can add to the many great reviews that have been posted in the past month, incuding that from IanTG. So just some brief comments on our experience and why we chose BGBR.

Normally we look for a condominium when booking a beach vacation, as this usually gets us a nice room with separate bedroom and kitchen (one of us likes to sleep in) at a price within our budget. Sandals and the other AI resorts are out of our reach. I decided to splurge on a one bedroom pool view suite - these rooms are very similar to a condo and have a partial sea view. Booked it direct with BGBR and got a great room assignment that even had a sunset view (although we enjoyed that on the beach each day). The look and feel of the kitchen and living areas is actually better than the hotel's photos. Master bath is huge and has two vessel sinks and granite vanity. Kitchen also done nicely with granite. Our room attendant Sansha kept the tile floors and the kitchen spotless for us. There are small AC units mounted near the ceiling in the living room and bedroom. Sensors that turn off the AC if the doors are open acted strangely especially the night when the local power grid glitched off a couple of times - if the AC refuses to operate during your visit try opening and closing the front door.

Second goal was to have a car-free carefree stay. Found just that in the Rodney Bay area with the help of the great info we found on TA. We knew it would be a busy beach but to be honest, it was incredibly quiet. Don't worry about the busloads of cruise passengers that set up in beach chairs nearby. They stayed in their own area and didn't affect the experience in front of BGBR. No problem at all with safety walking out to the local restaurants around 8:30 each night. Best dining experience was at the Charthouse. Spinnakers next door was an excellent surprise for value, quality, and selection. Be sure to check the rapidly-changing specials on the chalkboard. If you go at happy hour, be warned they do not spare the liquor on the 2 for 1 drinks. Getting food & drink at BGBR's restaurant and Spinnakers without leaving the beach was a great plus. Definitely consumed my fair share of Pitons. At home we normally dine at restaurants with USD 10-20 entrees. I'd say the range for our dinners around Rodney Bay was $20-40 during our trip, but we knew in advance what to expect. Breakfast in the room, and lunch on some days, helped to control the cost (we're light eaters, anyway) and maximize time near the beach.

Some days we laid out by the pool which is also quiet because most guests went out to the beach. Fountains spraying water over the pool turn on late morning and were a bit of a nuisance due to the noise and the spray affecting some of the lounge chairs. Finding beach lounges was never a problem. The staff brought out what was needed as each day progressed.

Tours: Took a taxi to Pigeon Island one day, worth it for the experience, views, and the pub. Booked a full day tour with Cosol, got a private tour with his brother Yellow Bird on Valentines Day, also the day with the fewest cruise passengers in port. It was a great experience and recommend highly. After running into Brig Unicorn's busloads of tourists at the volcano, I can definitely say a small tour is the way to go.

The food: The staff and manager are working hard to offer a variety of local foods and great service. Despite the new somewhat commercial appearance this is still a rather small and intimate resort. It is pretty amazing what they offer given the relatively small number of rooms on the property. Those of us at the Wednesday manager reception were told that they read TripAdvisor and want to be number one. I think we took four meals at the resort, about what I guessed in advance. We didn't come for the food. Hopefully BGBR isn't be offended by that, as our goal was to enjoy the local area and not stay confined within the resort.

I would defnitely come back to Rodney Bay on next visit to St. Lucia and it's good to know that there are plenty of cheaper room options at BGBR and Bay Gardens hotel should they economy not be cooperating with me in the future.

I would just like to say BGBR is stunning with the views to match. This was our honeymoon and the team including the service manager, Laguesta around the pool, Phillipa in the restaurant to name a few made our stay amazing. They were all so friendly. We arrived to a champagne reception and a cold towel which was great after the long journey. Our room had been decorated with signs and flowers as well as more champagne and fruit to celebrate our marriage. In addition our double was upgraded to an apartment by the pool which was a welcome surprise. Not forgetting the weekly managers free cocktail evening which was a cool surprise. The facilities are excellent from the pool and jacuzzi to beach access and restaurant being easily accessible for everyone. The gardeners do a great job to keep the gardens very well maintained. Our trips were great with horse riding on the beach and into the sea, a hair raising jeep ride through the rain forest and an excellent boat trip to the pitons. Overall a very relaxing time with as much or as little as you want to do available to you. Thanks to all at the resort and we hope to come back in the future with our friends. Steve and Lynne.

If you are looking for a home away from home, Bay Garden is the place to be. At first I was a bit hesitant about the rooms but as soon as our cab pulled in to the hotel, my husband and I were treated like royalty. The General Manager Berthia Parle even planned our week for us. Every time we came back to our room, there were new gifts in our room, from champagne, to flowers, to love birds made out of towels. The little touches like that made our trip even more enjoyable. During our stay, Hurricane Omar's waves were to strong for us to go down to the beach... no worries, the staff of Bay Gardens had a personal masseuse to come and give use massages on our patio. it was an experience to remember. For the most part, our stay was very quiet and relaxing. We were not to far from downtown Castries and a quick cab ride to the Friday Street festival. ( I can not remember the mane of the town). We had such a good time we did not want leave. Again, if you are looking for a great staff and good hotel, this is the place to be. Also, be sure to try the Frozen Habiscus (check spelling). I ordered from the hotel restaurant, pure heaven on your pallet!

I was vacationing with with my 3 daughters ages 14, 19 and 22. We chose this hotel based on the location and we weren't disappointed. We loved the activities at the beach but when we'd had enough we could walk 100 feet to our beautiful pool. We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite with a full kitchen. The rooms were very generous in size and comfortable for the 4 of us.
We walked a couple of times to the grocery store for our snacks and breakfast supplies. We preferred taking our time in the morning and enjoyed sitting on the balcony while taking in the view. Usually our lunches were by the pool.
We enjoyed many great meals at the nearby restaurants and felt safe walking to them in the evening. As well, the older girls enjoyed the nearby clubs which were a short walk away.
The Bay Garden Beach staff were friendly and on our last evening there we took in the luau buffet at the hotel.
We taxied to Pidgeon Island for a few hours one afternoon and our driver came back at a prearranged time to pick us up. This historic site is a definite must see and offers magnificent views and a beautiful beach right next to the Sandals Resort.
We would definitely return to the Bay Gardens Beach Resort and my daughters and I felt we had chosen the best hotel on Reduit Beach.

We spent the first week of Feb at the Bay Garden Beach Resort. it is a beautiful resort on a busy beach but being located at the very end allows you some relief from the traffic. Everyone at the resort was helpful and attentive. Amanda our room attendant and Julian at the restaurant made lasting impressions. Many others did as well but I didn't get their names. As you will see from the photos from our room...the website doesn't lie about the views.
We didn't come into contact with many Americans, I think they were mostly staying at the Sandals resorts. The crowd at BGBR were mostly Canadian and English. It made for some interesting and lively conversations on the beach and at the pool bar.
One thing to note...on Sunday most of the restaurants, including the BGBR have buffets for all meals. I guess it makes it easier to keep the staff low when turn out is uncertain.
We have been to many islands in the carribean and this was undoubtedly the most welcoming. To a person, housekeeper, waiter, tourguide, beach vendor, security....EVERYONE asked us if we were having a good time, thanked us for coming and said they hoped we would come back.
Beach vendors were plentiful, but respectful if you said no thank you. Hey, they have to make a buck if they can.
We will be back to St.Lucia and the BGBR..

We stayed at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary! We hoped it would be a great holiday but it was more than that. We had a holiday of a lifetime. We felt special from the moment we arrived and we were spoilt in the best possible way for 2 weeks. The staff were superb and the hotel and ameneties first class, simply the best.
