“Money well spent?”
Reviewed July 25, 2006

Visited the Almond Morgan Bay for one week in July 2006 having spent the previous week at the Almond Beach Village Barbados.
It is reputed that Almond spent USD 51 million refurbishing the place in 2005 and certainly the accommodation, restaurants and other public parts of the hotel were first class.

We enjoyed our stay, but found the booking in advance system for the restaurants a bit of a nuisance.

Overall, a really nice hotel and hard to find fault.

Just came back, my boyfriend and I stayed there from 7/11 to the 17th. It was an exceptional vacation.

The food is excellent! There are four restaurants- Bamboo, The Palms, Morgan Pier and Le Jardin. (You need to make reservations for dinner at these restaurants, they are all sit down service) Be sure to make reservations asap!
There is also The Plum Tree Grill which is open 12 to 8 and offers buffet lunch and dinner, and cheeseburgers. This is located near the kids pool- which is on the other side of the resort. (that was nice)

Drinks are strong and plentiful and you must try a bannana dacquerie.

Upon arrival they take all your bags to your room, give you a brief intro to the hotel, and serve you rum punch.

If your landing in the BIGGER of the two airports, prepare yourself for a two hour drive to the hotel in a cab that is not well air conditioned * BRING COLD WATER FOR THE TWO HOUR RIDE*

Our room was beautiful, ocean view, and a balcony. If at all possible request the 540 block- it's far enough away from all the noise but close enough to everything.

If you are traveling with GOGO and you need to go to a meeting, bring your flight info, and your CC, they will go over your return flight home and you will be able to book tours through them! My boyfriend had to walk back to the room twice because noone told us to bring the flight info or the Credit Card.

JOY TOURS- is a MUST- it picks you right up at the hotel, takes you on a scenic view of the island, the waterfall, the volcanoe, Marigot Bay, snorekling, the Pitons and it has the BEST BBQ lunch!!!!

Also, we did the Zip Line tour and traveled throgh the rainforest. If you are up to adventure this is a must!

Also, did the Pirates Sunset Cruise- this was "okay" But it was fun to be on the same ship as they filmed the movie.

We loved it here- My only complaint is that you have to dress up for dinner. Men must wear trousers and women must wear pants or a skirt.

Overall excellent room, service, and food- Would definetely go back.

Just returned home from The Almond and can honestly say that we have just had the best carribean holiday in the last ten years.

As mentioned in previous posts cool drinks and chilled towels await you after the transfer which despite previous reports the transfer is not as horrendous as some make out...yes it is one and a half hours but its manageable and in no way life threatening!!!

We travelled with our 6 year old daughter and to say she enjoyed the kids club would be an understatement, we only managed to drag her away to have lunch with us and also to get showered and changed so she could go back for dinner and the evening activities, we managed to have dinner with her on two occassions in fourteen days because she simply enjoyed the kids club so much!!!

We managed to eat at all the resturants and I have to say the food was of the highest quality and on only one occassion I would say service was slow, Le Jardin was excellent with great steak and chicken dishes, Morgans Pier fantastic tuna and fish dishes and both the Palms and Bambou good mix of Carribean and creole style cooking.Breakfast was a choice of Palms or Bambou both serving the same dishes of standard breakfast fayre as well as fruit, pastries, omletes and eggs made to order as you wait.Lunch was a choice of the beach barbeque, the plum tree kids grill and both the Bambou and Palms so really spoilt for choice and something to suit all tastes.

The pools were all well kept and the gardens immaculate, rooms were tended to daily and were done to a very high standard and coffee left daily for the coffee machine which was great for that early morning fix.

We hired a taxi for the day to go and see Soufriere, the Pitons etc but the trip although only 20ish miles was an ordeal and we eventually turned back due to our daughter being travel sick for the first time ever. This trip was far worse than the airport transfer so beware.

If I had any comments to make the place better it would be trivial things such as a bar nearer the beach, loosen the dress code at night in Palms and Bambou and serve tea in a pot at breakfast.

If you get the opportunity get the helicopter transfer on the return leg to the airport, excellent views over the Pitons, Marigot bay etc and only a 15 minutes to the airport.

To sum exellent vacation, excellent staff, lovely clientelle, sad to go home.

Need any other info feel free to email me.

As a young couple, my boyfriend and I prefer the finer things in life, but we also look for the bargains. We went to St. Lucia at the end of June and stayed at Almond Morgan Bay. The resort was beautiful, the food was supurb and the price was perfect! We ate and drank like kings. Our room was newly remolded with a nice balcony and the bathroom was also new. The service was top notch. And the grounds were spectacular; I absolutely LOVED the flowers and vegetation.
Joy's adventure tour is probably the best value day trip that is offereed at the resort. (it fills up quickly, so book your trip early) It is heart warming that Joy is a local and they give an interesting tour on the way, narrating the history of the island. I would reccommend travelers to take the adventure; the lunch on the prviate beach was one of my favorite parts of the day. :)
I highly reccommend Almond Morgan Bay as well as traveling to St. Lucia.

This resort was beautiful. The food was good, but not spectacular. Dress codes for men were a bit ridiculous considering how hot and humid it was. I can understand a dress code for indoor dining where there is airconditioning, but long pants is too uncomfortable for outdoor dining.

We had a garden room which meant our room was located further back. There was a horrible, funky smell in that area. We weren't sure what that smell was, but later in the week discovered that we were located very close to the sewage "runoff" area. Especially nasty is the tennis court area.

Service was terrible! We were part of a bridal party, and had a group of 17. We made reservations at the French restaurant "Le Jardin" for a welcome dinner. I can understand why they insisted in splitting us up into 2 tables. That's fine. But they insisted that the 2 tables be on opposite sides of the restaurant. They were not accomodating at all and had silly rules. Furthermore, the restaurant was 2/3 empty so they had plenty of free tables.

Reservations are required at all restaurants. The bride & groom had made reservations at the French restaurant later that week for an romantic dinner. When they showed up for diner, it was discovered that the clerk had put down the wrong date. The bride & groom were told that they could not eat there, despite the hotel's screwup. And of course the restaurant was not full.

There were many more incidents that week. We managed to have fun despite the screwups, but we would never ever go back to this place, or recommend it to anyone. And we would never go to another Almond resort. There are much better resorts out there (i.e. Sandals)

Second trip to St. Lucia & it was just as good as the first.... Resort was clean and the staff very friendly. Food was good, best restaurant was LeJardin & they had excellent food. If I could change one thing about the restaurants it would the dress code for dinner, you're in the Caribbean & I did not see the purpose of the men having to wear slacks to every restaurant in the evening. We stayed @ a resort at the far north last year and it was an adult only all-inclusive & the men there were not required to wear slacks to every restaurant. The spa could have had a better atmosphere & more privacy while getting a massage & by the way the massages were GREAT. Don't depend on the wake up calls from guest services, had troubles three out of three times - set your own alarm clocks, but if you take the card/key out of the power slot it will mess up the clock in your room. Lots of watersports & plenty for families to do.... One warning - watch out for Silver, he is a local St. Lucian & he likes to walk down to the edge of the beach & sing & take a sand bath before preceeding to the ocean to finish his singing ! Was amusing for the first 5 minutes; he's harmless, but loud @ times which can become annoying. All in all --- Great Trip - had lots of fun with my family. Ask for Laura at one of the bars - great girl, stay away from the "screaming wolf" drinks!

My family and I went to St. Lucia and stayed at the Almond Morgan Bay resort from July 8-15th. Upon Arriving we were offered a cold towel and a drink, we were brought to our room which was very nice, bathroom was very clean as well. We had an ocean view room which had a nice gazebo out back where you could relax. They had already made reservations for us at the Palm which was a very nice restraunt. When you arrive you need to make reservations for the next few nights dinner, and you have to dress up for all of your dinners at the resort, I highly suggest the French Creol restraunt! The kids center will keep your children for you until 10pm if you would like but then they miss out on the beach.
The beach was nice but the water was murky. Only at our resort was the water so murky, when you went away on tours you saw how clear the water is but many boats go through the water which made it murky. The pools were great, there is one that is adults only, meaning 16 years and up, that had a pool bar, and was very nice if you didnt want to get sandy and sticky from the salt water. However the pools close at 6pm! However it was pretty nice because you could go get ready for dinner or listen to the band, one night they had dancers.
IF YOU HAVE TO WAKE UP EARLY, DO NOT RELY ON THE WAKE UP CALLS! The first time we got some other rooms wake up call. The second day we got ours 20 minutes late, and then the day of our departure we didnt even get one which left us only 15 minutes to get our luggage in the lobby! We took the helicopter back for a 13 minute ride to the airport which was a much faster way to travel and very amazing, I loved it!
Over all our vacation was fantastic, Almond Morgan Bay is great!
