I got married at this resort in January 1998 when it was called Wyndham Morgan Bay Resort. It was fantastic then from the beautiful rooms, great food and very friendly staff. I can only think that they will have to go some to improve on the time we had there!!! Glad to hear Joys trips are still going.
Hoping to return in January 2008 for our 10th Wedding Anniversary if not before.

We stayed at St James for two weeks in february and had a lovely time. The rooms were spacious and clean with lovely views of the garden/ocean.
The food was nice, with a great choice, you must have an omlette for breakfast they are delicious. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
Its a family resort with lots of things for the kids to do, we spent most days by the adults only pool, its nice and quiet and very relaxing.
There were loads of free water sports on offer, including water skiing! The beach overall was dissapointing, not the turquoise waters you imagine you'd find in the carribean.
Quite often the beach was closed for swimmers due to rough seas, on the days that you could swim you couldnt see the bottom, because the waves had churned up alot of the golden sand. There were masses of seaweed to negotiate before you could get out deep enough to swim. It was a big let down for us as we love snorkeling. The locals told us Morgan Bay used to be called choc bay because the water looks like chocolate!

However we did get to snorkel on several trips, you must go on JOYS TRIP it is fantastic and the snorkeling amazing!

Overall we had a nice relaxin holiday, St Lucia as an island is beautiful and we would visit again, but probably not back to St James.

My wife and I stayed at this resort from the 12th December to the 19th December 2005. The accommodation, restaurants, entertainment, facilities and staff were all fantastic, so much so that we will be returning in 2006 (with our children, 10-15).
Whilst we were there we tried a number of excursions and tours (all good) the most memorable being a trip along the coast with Joy’s Tours. There were some building works going on during our stay, but nothing to disrupt your holiday. Overall we found the resort to be excellent and I would certainly recommend this resort as I’m sure you will too!

I read the reviews and still traveled to St. Lucia Nov. 30 - December 6th to see the new property. As others have said, there were problems.... but what many did not see was the resolve of the hotel and management to rectify the glitches involved with opening a new property. Remember that this property has been completely renovated since last May.

I wanted to say that the rooms were light, airy and attractively decorated. Maid service was great - as was the entire staff, especially in their desire to please and meet the needs of the guests. The St. Lucians are a very gracious people.

The fare in the restaurants was WONDERFUL - especially the French Restaurant. Also, the gentlemen working the boat area were phenominal.

Book this property with no qualms - it will live up to your expectations! One of the best reasons to visit this resort is the diversity of the visitors.
We met many wonderful people visiting from all over the world.

My daughter is getting married in May - and it looks like Almond Morgan Bay will be their honeymoon destination. What better recommendation can I give than that?

Note: the only caveat would be to make sure that there are no concerts being held next door during your stay.

Before I begin my review can I say that we are not travel agents or associated in any way with the holiday industry but just an couple with a small son looking for the most enjoyable holiday. Despite the apalling reviews and reports (whether fact or fiction) about the conditions at this resort we decided to go anyway - with open minds.

Check In - The Lobby of the Hotel is lovely - spacious and beautifully furnished. As soon as we arrived at the Hotel we were greeted by "Chester" who firstly provided us with Rum Punch, took our details and very swiftly returned with our room keys. He then summoned a "cart" and we were whisked off to our room.

Room - This was very spacious - containing a massive "King Size" bed for us and a single bed for our son. There was an iron/ironing board, safe, fridge, tv, coffee/tea maker, ample storage for clothes. We had a balcony, small but adequate with two chairs and a nice view. The bathroom contained loo, bath with shower and again was spacious. The maid service was excellent the rooms cleaned daily and to a very good standard. The tea/coffee were replenished daily also. The rooms are laid out in 3 storey blocks. Two points to note: We were in Room 146 and this block (and several others) was set on quite a steep slope so not for those with trouble walking. We found the "Entertainment/Music" very loud and we could quite clearly hear it at night when we were in our room.

Restaurants - There were three fully operational restaurants when we arrived and the kids restaurant opened whilst we were there and the Morgan Jetty (pier) restuarant/bar was opened the day we came back.

Bambou - This was open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and operated buffet style (although some dishes could be ordered). It had a very wide variety of dishes to choose from (smoked salmon for breakfast yummy!!) and we breakfasted there most days. I should add that here as with all the restaurants the staff could not be quicker, more polite, helpful and certainly not more friendly, some were even greeting us by name after a few days.

Palm - This was my favourite - a la carte Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and what lovely food (a kids menu was also available) - again staff brilliant - wine topped up before you'd even finished.

Jardin - Adults only restaurant - open for Dinner only - we left Marc in the Kids Club one evening and had one of the best steaks we had ever eaten here - definitely worth a visit (or more).

Bars - There were three bars running whilst we were here - the Morgan Jetty bar opening as we left. The Sunset Lounge was the main bar, it was covered and was located very close to one of the pools and was also where the evening entertainment took place. There is a pool bar and also a swim up bar. All the bars are fabulously stocked and the staff very quick to serve - cocktails galore!!!

Pools - There were two pools when we arrived - another pool opened before we left. One of the pools was 4' deep throughout which was ideal for our Son - the other pool was of varying depth and contained the swim up bar. The pools were beautifully clean and at least two staff members were employed purely to take care of the pools (checking ph levels etc).

Beach/water sports - the beach is only a very short walk away (it is not large but more than adequate) - it is cleaned daily and is very well stocked with beds, it is sandy. Because of the abnormally high rainfall in November the seabed (and local rivers etc) have been stirred up, whilst the sea is clean it is sandy and therefore sea at the Almond is not suitable for snorkelling at the moment although obviously this will clear given time. The watersports are great - water skiing, banana boat, peddle boats, windsurfing, sailing all no charge. We loved the banana boat - the first time we were surrounded by thousand of sardines, in our hands, feet all over!!! - quite an experience!!!! The guys who run the water sports centre, again, couldn't be more helpful.

Kids Club - Brilliant!!!! - There is a babies club - 5-12's and a teens club (which opened while we were there). We used the 5-12's - Marc could go in there from 9 in the morning - if we wanted they would take him to lunch at 12.30. They were only closed for half hour at 5.00. We could take him back at 5.30pm and they would keep him up to any time until 10.00pm. They had stacks to do - they would take the kids to the beach, scavenger hunts, you name it they did it - in the evening after dinner they could watch a film if they wanted. It was very well staffed and in fact we had to persuade Marc he didn't want to go all the time - he might like to spend a bit of time with Mum and Dad!!!!!!!

Gardens - These were being planted whilst we were there - when they are more mature they are going to be beautiful - they look pretty good now!!! - there were quite a few workmen planting etc. but they were so polite and friendly and caused no disruption to us at all.

Conclusion - We are so glad we came here - it is a lovely Hotel - yes initially we had a few teething problems but these were sorted swiftly and efficiently - the staff are the friendliest we have come across anywhere - yes there is still some work going on but they are working flat out to get everything done - when it is, this is going to be one fantastic hotel and one that we would gladly come back to.

If you have any questions or would like some photos please email me Please note I shall be off-line between 29th December and 13th January but will answer all questions before or on my return.

My family and i have just returned from the Almond Morgan Bay Resort 16/12/2005. Being a regular visitor to tripadvisor i consulted the website before we left to find some very negertive reports on the resort, so i feel it is my place to put the record straight. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and a much needed drink. The resort was not quite finished while we were there( only two pools were open and kids pool not finished, the pier resturant was not quite ready )but this did not spoil our enjoyment in any way. The food served in all resturants is first class with plenty of variety. The selection of drinks and brands is second to none. As the resort was not finished there were still a few workmen about but they were all freindly and fun and did not disturb you in any way. There is a great selection of watersports for every taste. All in all i do not think that i can give any negertive comments and when finished this resort will be somewhere not to be missed.

I have just returned from Almond Morgan Bay. St. Lucia and would thoroughly recommend it. The staff were great fun and the service was excellent. The food was fantastic, particularly in Le Jardin and Le Palm where the food easily met 5* standard. With childrens pools, adults pool and water sports for everyone the hotel is well suited to both couples and families alike.
I believe this recently renovated resort will do extremely well and I hope to return very soon.
